Coach Khoo noticeably absent in Cal's victory

Last night, Cal high finally won a game for the first time in about a month. Head coach Khoo, who has been highly criticized on these message boards the last couple weeks, was noticeably absent from the sidelines for the game. coach Carpio, one of his assistants, took over head coaching duties. Funny enough, the 2 seniors that Khoo had been refusing to play consistently, Uke Spiller and Arman, were the ones who carried the team to victory. Both were on fire from 3 pt range at multiple stages of the game. Bottom line, the Grizz spare themselves some serious embarrassment and take down Granada.
Not sure what the deal with Khoo is... I talked to a few fellow parents in the stands and nobody had heard any rumors about the situation.

I have heard rumors that Uke Spiller has been suspended by the school. Khoo and company have their hands full trying to squeak out another win. Anyways they had to shoot an unconscious 48% from the field to beat Granada.

it seems like calling out a 17 or 18 year old's possible suspension from school isn't the purpose of this forum. of course, this threads about the Cal Coach had taken a turn for the worse awhile back. glad the internet message boards were in its infancy when my kids were playing 10+ years ago.

Its like the internet has given the "angry parent in the stands" another voice. Maybe it isn't the coaches fault and Cal High just isn't very good. Honestly I haven't ever remembered them being any good in the last 15 years please correct me if I'm wrong

I'm not a parent just an educated sports fan with high credentials on the playing field.

You only have to go back 10 years. It just seems like more.

They were 22-6 and tied for 1st in the EBAL under Cary Wilson in 06-07 with a 50-31 throttling in the playoffs of a tough 20-8 Newark squad. They made it to the NCS semis before losing to DLS.

No one here played the game of basketball therefore can not comment on anthony khoos chin offense.

Couple quick points:

Khoo can coach, he just has almost zero talent and anyone that says differently is lying. This school has been borderline bad for a few years, made the playoffs and got drilled by Dougherty in the 1st round. Some of the schools best players don't even play.

You don't have to be a former player to give your honest opinion on this site, it's a forum and we appreciate most anyone's opinion, just speak from the heart and post facts.

If Coach Khoo is stepping down, there will be a lot of coaches interested in this job and I can think of a few that would love to get there hands on this job. Cal has plenty of talented student athletes, great athletic dept, they have a great support base of parents and administration, they just need to keep the best players playing and new facilities never hurts.

Cal is exactly where it should be, in the lower 1/4 of the overall league and the worst team in the North.

Yes it was taken down once the original poster hedged their original post. Legitimacy was all gone after that (wasn't much there to begin with) and poster was banned from message board.

Cal High is rolling MAN! I'll tell you what man, I really like this Ryan Kwong guy man, they call him the SHOOTER. I haven't seen guys shoot like this man since Jerry Rice 1987 training camp Man! He is just a purebred shooter! Have you ever seen the Movie "Cast Away"? In that movie, Tom Hanks' only friend was a ball named Wilson. At Cal High Ryan Kwong's only friend has to be a basketball because I'll tell you what, he shoots the lights out man! Those Fightin' Grizzlies are going to finish the season winning 8 out of their last 10 and make NCS man.

I Love the style man! You can run some 16 power with Torian with a leading Arman K! Then you can hit them with some spider 2 Y banana hitting a wide open Like Hause in the flats. I love Xs and Os man!

Look at my playing career man! I played for the Flyers at the university of Dayton man! Talking about flyers have you seen D'Anthony Thomas in the open field Man! Wow that kid can run. Why don't you come down to Tampa at the FFCA and we will talk about the game man!

I looked at the max preps page before I posted, I saw one good season 10 years ago which to me is an anomaly based off all the other years I looked at. My point is, its high school, these coaches get criticized a lot for wins and losses when in actuality most of these kids won't be going anywhere with sports. Having played high school sports I can't remember very many wins and losses (a few stand out) but I do remember my coaches, teammates, and the fun times we had. Winning is nice but its not like Cal high has a plethora of talented kids who aren't playing because they hate the coach, they probably aren't very talented. But its HIGH SCHOOL its not professional sports, if the guy is trying hard and teaching the kids life lessons through sports then why come on a message board and vilify him. How would you feel if you had a message board dedicated to your job where people could go on there and rip you for how bad you supposedly are at X job. I ask you, would you say these things to his face? If so then do it, but don't come on the internet and bash somebody behind a keyboard.
