Why doesn’t Folsom schedule a Hawaii team and give the kids an unreal experience.Folsom needs one of the following on their schedule next year: MD, SJB, C10, or MV. Plain and simple.

That year MC finally beat CC!! Burse was amazing. The State championship versus Parker of San Diego was epic!!I don't remember teams being asked to leave in the past. Interesting dynamic. One of my favorite teams to watch was that Modesto Christian state title team with Burse
There’s some good teams in Hawaii! Doubt they could afford it.Why doesn’t Folsom schedule a Hawaii team and give the kids an unreal experience.
nah they would just get criticized for having a weak schedule. Only way they get this monkey off their back is by scheduling one of the top teams in SoCal. And I beg to differ, C10 or MV can be beat. MV is having a historic season but they lose a baller senior class. C10 looks beatable this year. MD/SJB would just be for the sheer spectacle. I’d tune in that’s for sure. Scheduling a SD team does nothing for Folsom anymore.folsum is nowhere near good enough to justify any of those matchups. neither team would get anything out of it.
would like to see them play lincoln san diego or a team like la serba or corona del mar next year those would all be grate match up
Yes, it’s time…. If Folsom wants to be a real open contender then you have to play Open level teams….nah they would just get criticized for having a weak schedule. Plus MD coming to Folsom would be Quite the Spectacle….. I remember when MD came to Stockton to play DLS in 1999 MD packed the stands with a ton of fans!….nah they would just get criticized for having a weak schedule. folsum does not want to be an open contender though i dont know how much more evidence you people on here need to prove that.Yes, it’s time…. If Folsom wants to be a real open contender then you have to play Open level teams….
San Diego teams are D1 AA at best…. Since now you have PITT that’s played Cen10 x 2 and SJB, all in So Cal, Folsom will just look bad not putting a Top 3 CA team or National level team like BG on their schedule no matter where they have to go to play the game…..
Then there is the West Catholic Athletic League in the Bay Area. Valley Christian, a Protestant school, is a member. When they joined a number of years ago someone proposed changing the name to the "Mostly Catholic Athletic League." The powerhouse Trinity League doesn't have the name problem for Orange Lutheran with the other Catholic schools.putting modesto chrisian basketball in the TRI city league is an equally stupid move by the sacramento sjs section. TRI means three. meaning the league should only be allowed to have a maximum of three cities represented. the three cities are stockton lodi and tracy. words have meanings except apparently to the "people" who run sacramento sjs.
This is something I've not understood for a while. Many NorCal teams that get games against SS competition only seem to want to swing for the fences (i.e., Mater Dei or St. John Bosco). There are a number of other teams that would provide very good reputation-building games that have demonstrated they might be open to travel: Orange Lutheran, Mission Viejo, Servite, or maybe Los Alamitos. There’s some other matchups for Folsom next year that would be good for both teams.OLU.Sierra Canyon,JSerra in so cal.Corner Canyon Utah.Basha and Liberty AZ
Kudos to Folsom for making the call!…. Tough to schedule a game that far away in the middle of the season on short notice with league play coming up in such a difficult league….
Who knows though, maybe this opens the door for the teams to play next year….

sierra canyon is the third best program in california. if folsom won't play centennial or bosco they won't play sierra canyon either.Thing is, outside of DLS for 5 of the past 6 years, Folsom historically hasn't shown an inclination to schedule games against programs they recognize as clearly superior to them. Games they don't reasonably expect to win (I think they expected to beat Serra-SM). Kinda like a champion boxer protecting their legacy by strategically setting up fights against favorable match ups only.
And IMO the only reason they started scheduling DLS in 2018 (Richardson's last season as HC) was because DLS stood in their path for the OPEN game and they knew they had one of the better classes of players since 2014.
They've only scheduled two Southern Section teams ever and neither were considered elite or even top level programs at the time.
I don't blame them for never scheduling Cen10, as that program historically refuses to travel outside of SoCal or Fresno sans a trip to Las Vegas last season and Peoria, AZ this season. But those other programs have shown the willingness to reciprocate travel.
Trouble is, Folsom doesn't reasonably expect to beat them and doesn't want to be Akron going into the Horseshoe in Columbus.
Again, I don't blame them (as much as I'd like to see it happen). Just as I wouldn't blame the average program here in the Sac Metro area not wanting to play Folsom.
You're 100% right. Really, any game against a TL team not named Mater Dei or St. John Bosco would pose a serious challenge most years, as well as provide serious cachet (if won). The likes of DLS, Bishop Gorman, and Sierra Canyon, among others, have figured this out by scheduling JSerra, OLu and Servite in recent years.
Back around 10-13 years ago when Casey Taylor was still at Del Oro, they managed to schedule respectable Southern Section programs such as Westlake, Oaks Christian, Notre Dame, and Vista Murrieta. Westlake was even a top program at the time, representing the South in the OPEN game in 2011.
There are a myriad of good programs down South that would seriously strengthen SOS while not necessarily qualifying as a "blender" type game.
What about Sierra Canyon?
Huh? Sierra canyon is 0-3 vs TL this season.sierra canyon is the third best program in california. if folsom won't play centennial or bosco they won't play sierra canyon either.
I think you are incorrect sir. Mater Dei settled on a 9 game regular season because they had trouble finding a final team that wanted to play them. They are one of the few teams in California that could have taken this game if they wanted to but TL starts next week and there was such short notice that they declined. You are accusing Folsom of doing this for publicity which is not accurate. Doherty has shown he’s much more willing to schedule tougher compared to the previous regimen so I give Folsom credit.Nah, not so fast. Mater Dei has 10 scheduled games already. See bylaw #2217 of the CIF - Southern Section Handbook:
Now, see Bylaw 2207.6 of the CIF - Sac Joaquin Section Handbook:
Mater Dei was in no position to schedule and Dougherty / Folsom knew that. Kudos to the Monarchs if they did indeed do Folsom a major PR solid but the truth of the matter is this is Folsom acting like a tough ass after police has made it to the scene. Nothing more.
i said third best program, not third best record. they are very young this year and still super competitive.Huh? Sierra canyon is 0-3 vs TL this season.
MD only had a 9 game schedule this year, they have 2 bye weeks….Nah, not so fast. Mater Dei has 10 scheduled games already. See bylaw #2217 of the CIF - Southern Section Handbook:

Not even close…. They have to figure out how to not get their doors blown off by JSerra first…. 🤣sierra canyon is the third best program in california. if folsom won't play centennial or bosco they won't play sierra canyon either.
one game is not a measure of who is a better program. yes j serra so cal version has a better team this year then sierra canyon, but sierra canyon is a better program overall. Not even close…. They have to figure out how to not get their doors blown off by JSerra first…. 🤣
M&P....College Park is in Pleasant Hill,College Park faced one of their poor football teams in some time and the coach did not one any part of a beating that DLS would have put on to CP..and community college park has been looked at as a joke of a program ever sense. so i’m not quite sure you’re making the point you think you’re.
i am well aware of where community college park is. my point still stands.M&P....College Park is in Pleasant Hill,College Park faced one of their poor football teams in some time and the coach did not one any part of a beating that DLS would have put on to CP..
