some teams have strange seasons and Del Oro was one of them...They finished the league play at 3-3 and for the season at 10-6 for 2015..BUT wound up taking the playoff's with a big win in the final..
The Golden Eagles started the preseason with a routing of Pleasant Grove of Utah 41-0, but then things went bad as they fell to Punahou 22-15, followed by a close loss to Bellarmine 34-31...A big recovery followed with a 52-10 win over Nevada Union, but then the roof caved in with four losses in a row to Folsom, Rocklin, Oakridge and De la Salle....After those four beatings, a regrouping took place and the team began to focus which led to two league victories in a row and enough wins to get DO into the playoffs.
It didn't look like the Golden Eagles would survive the second round, but they became a team on a mission with the coach and crew pumping new life which led to a big 16-13 win at Sacramento St stadium and becoming the playoff champs in the process.
The 2016 season see's a host of seniors that are back from last years playoff team and have a 8-2 JV team stepping up to fill the blanks...
Del Oro starts the 2016 season with a home game against visiting St. Paul of Santa Fe springs who went 2-3 in league play and 5-5 for the season....The Swordsmen are also loaded with seniors and have a big line, but they face a battle hardened Golden Eagle team...
Now the Sierra Foothill league is one of the toughest leagues in the area and a look at the seasons schedule will tell you who Del Oro faces...
