some teams have strange seasons and Del Oro was one of them...They finished the league play at 3-3 and for the season at 10-6 for 2015..BUT wound up taking the playoff's with a big win in the final..
The Golden Eagles started the preseason with a routing of Pleasant Grove of Utah 41-0, but then things went bad as they fell to Punahou 22-15, followed by a close loss to Bellarmine 34-31...A big recovery followed with a 52-10 win over Nevada Union, but then the roof caved in with four losses in a row to Folsom, Rocklin, Oakridge and De la Salle....After those four beatings, a regrouping took place and the team began to focus which led to two league victories in a row and enough wins to get DO into the playoffs.
It didn't look like the Golden Eagles would survive the second round, but they became a team on a mission with the coach and crew pumping new life which led to a big 16-13 win at Sacramento St stadium and becoming the playoff champs in the process.
The 2016 season see's a host of seniors that are back from last years playoff team and have a 8-2 JV team stepping up to fill the blanks...
Del Oro starts the 2016 season with a home game against visiting St. Paul of Santa Fe springs who went 2-3 in league play and 5-5 for the season....The Swordsmen are also loaded with seniors and have a big line, but they face a battle hardened Golden Eagle team...
Now the Sierra Foothill league is one of the toughest leagues in the area and a look at the seasons schedule will tell you who Del Oro faces...
8-26.....St.Paul of Santa Fe Springs Home 7:30 P.M.
9-02.....Pleasant Valley Home 7:30 P.M.
9-09.....Bellarmine Away 7 P.M.
9-16.....Capitol Christian Away 7:30 P.M.
9-23.....Granite Bay Away 7:30 P.M.
9-30.....Bye
10-07.....Nevada Union Away 7:30 P.M.
10-14.....Folsom Home 7 P.M.
10-21.....Rocklin Away 7 P.M.
10-28.....Oakridge Home 7:30 P.M.
11-04.....Wood Creek Home 7:30 P.M.

Bellarmine is formidable, PV very good but level below, St. Paul runs with the big boys down south and should give em a good game, CC will be a coast for DO starters.....

DO has to be the team to beat this year in SJS. State Champs that return about 60% of last years team including a very good QB in Smartt, This is the easiest preseason DO has had in years. St Paul has won 10 games in 3 years. Not exactly a powerhouse. I honestly see DO going undefeated in preseason this year. Bellarmine will be a battle but they lost a lot of players off last years team. DO has a great Fresh/JV class coming up. DO is going to be tough.

St. Mary's-Stockton and Folsom will be in the mix with Del Oro too.

Inderkum is super intriguing to me this year as well

With you Streak on Folsom watch, just wonder how they will fare having lost their offensive architect Troy....definitely have talent, high as usual and have a lot of younger kids coming up the ranks, with most likely some key transfers. Schedule is favorable, so saying 6-0 heading into Del Oro game. Del Oro has lots of talent too, having brought back many starters on both sides of ball, and their juniors will fill some holes & add depth, got to watch a few JV games before varsity action and they really moved the ball and defended well. St. Mary's always seems to be in the playoff mix at some level, but can they get over the hump? Lots of playoff losses by 7 or less. Do like Inderkum a lot, El Cerrito gave them a run last season and may do the same again, but other matchups are definitely in their favor - and their head coach is a winner, knows how to get it done. Nice to see they open with a relatively heavy game and could see Yuba City giving them a scare.

Folsom lost a lot. D1 QB and future pro lineman. But more importantly one of the great offensive minds at the HS level in Troy Taylor. They have a great program so I'm sure they will be back but I think DO is the team to beat. St Mary's is a notch below both of these programs. They have a really scary game against Cardinal Newman early in the season. That would be a bad loss.

No too sure about that. St. Mary's gave Folsom all they could handle last year and return most of that Team.

Bells lost some senior talent but will still have some speed at WR and RB and athletic QB. Probably not as formidable as last season but they should be very good.

Looking forward to the Bells/DO game. Want revenge for Martig burning DO's D on that last drive of the Bells/DO game last year. DO should have a decent run game(RB Davis) and a seasoned QB(QB Smartt) to move the ball. DO D should be good with a number of returning starters(Hurst, Gee, Luna, Miller, Thomas, etc...)

DO had the Bells in the bag, poor defensive calls gave the Bells the game, having only 3 deep with 30 seconds to go is not in the manual. Do expect DO to roll on the Bells this year.

I think it should be a pretty good game versus Bells. This Bells team got lots of experience in state and may have a chip on its shoulder with Mission Viejo loss and will know what to expect of the tough SFL teams. Defense should be stout. Will need to get stronger on line but quick line, May be a close game. They have a good core returning of athletic and fast players including:

Ike Ogbogu. Sr, QB, 6'1, 180, athletic, tough strong runner, and very mobile (quick and can cut ) and accurate passer intermediate and long routes, 4.66 40. Last season backup but some good playing time.

Justin Malone, Sr, TE, 6'3, 215, Fast 4.6 40, HM WCAL;

Jackson Burrill, Sr, OLB/FB, 6-3, 225, fast and big and strong, HM WCAL, D1 athlete;

Cade Hall, Jr, NG/OL, 6-3, 225, 2nd team WCAL; v

Nick Vallner, Sr, WR, 6-0, 180, 4.55 40, WR/DB;

Bobby Facchino, Sr, 5-11, 200, C/OG, 2nd team WCAL;

Brendon Manigo, Sr., RB/OLB, 5-10, 190, listed 4.45 40, strong and fast;

Not sure if Earvin Da Silva, Sr, 5-9, 170, RB/WR, 10.93 100 M will be on team. He sat out last season. One of the top sprinters in the section and very good underclass player

Bells will probably be faster and DelOro maybe more physical. Bells will slow game down with that offense. Having played each other last season, both teams will have a feel for each other. I don't think either team is elite next season but both teams will be very good. Will be surprised if it isn't a battle and it looks like both teams will have at least a couple games under their belts. Both programs play big games.

Folsom added Rocklin's top athlete as a transfer and joining the Dogs his senior year and probably will be a dual threat QB and safety. With him (Michalet) will be very fast and based on video running the offense looks like they will be very strong on offense. The transfer may put them in an advantage but will start with DO as #1 in SFL, but Folsom could very well be top team. Looks like they will be explosive again. See my Folsom post.
