Division I Game Thread: Folsom (68) vs. Oceanside (7)

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

OS is collapsing rapidly. Game's getting lopsided.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Folsom is doing whatever it wants right now. Oceanside can't even get into its offense. Short punt for Oceanside gives Folsom the ball at Oceanside's 13 yard line.

Three plays later, Bailey Laolagi goes in for a one yard TD run.

Folsom leads 28-7 with 5:13 left in Q2. 28 unanswered points.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Good move by Oceanside HC for trying to go back to the running game. Gotta slow this game down and give your QB something to work with.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

I could see Jonah Williams as the highest recruited player in NorCal next year. His stock is going to explode.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Folsom has the ball back on its own 38 yard line with 3 minutes left.

Defense is a lot easier when you can get heavy pressure with four guys

I think he is definitely in the top group with Collin Johnson from Valley Christian and Tagaloa/Asiasi from DLS.

We'll see, Tagaloa already has offers from all over and so does Asiasi. He is very good though. 3 great recruits coming from NorCal next year.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Tre Green has a 9 yard TD run to make it 34-7. Drive took less than a minute.

Browning threw a good ball down the seam to Thompson to gain most of the yards.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Folsom is good. Period. Someone wrote it's an embarrassment that Grant is undefeated, now Folsom is walking over Oceanside which is a good team do we call them an embarrassment. No they are a good team that ran into a special team.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Wow ! Ridiculous. Makes you wonder if they will end up #1 in state .

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Folsom is too much for Oceanside. They can hang 70 on these guys.. looks like they made the necessary adjustments defensively.. and the pirates defense don't know what's hitting them

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

The Oceanside coach looked sick when giving the QB the play. Folsom could score again before end of the half.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Grant was good. Very good. This is a top tier team in state and country

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

1:18 left and Folsom gets the ball on its own 22 yard line.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Honest ?. Does browning compete day 1 for job at wash? I mean I think it's a realistic ?

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Deguara throws the ball off a double reverse and hits Tre Green down the field. Folsom ball at the six yard line. Play of the night.

Great throw and great catch. Little bit of everything tonight.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

You think Oceanside has ever had 40 scored on them in the first half?

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Browning to Green for 6 yards on a swing pass. This one should go into the locker room at 41-7 Folsom. Quite a show the Bulldogs are putting on.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Boys and girls you are watching the greatest team to ever come from SJS. End of story. Never seen anything like this.

It is always hard to start day 1 in major college football, but I think Browning is going to do really well up there. Skill set and program match up so well and Browning seems like he has the drive to keep getting better.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

With the run defense, I think this Folsom team would matchup with the Spartans. That would have been a good game to see. I think this team could defeat the Spartans. Definitely a better game than the last one.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Just heard on the broadcast that Browning is through at Folsom. He reports to Washington after Christmas break to get ready for spring ball. I am guessing that Pedersen has every intention of starting him right away. Why else would he have him up early to learn their offense. Thats pretty dang cool, Browning is a STUD!!!!!!! This team is loaded. I might as well say it, the only thing missing for Folsom is the shot at the mighty Spartans!!!!!

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

This is clearly the best Folsom team ever, much improved over last season. They are special. It's great that Folsom got to play a solid undefeated SoCal team for a state title, but it sure would have been nice to see this team play DLS.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

I think this Folsom team is the best challenge to a DLS team since I started following in 2006.

I think Browning is in play to start right away, but I think coaches like to get as many kids enrolled early as possible. Helps the overall transition.

C'mon Larry, that's the problem with making snap decisions early in the game. This Oceanside team would merely be a good team in the SJS.

Not only do I not believe they are better than Grant, I like Vacaville's, St. Mary's, and Rocklin's (a healthy one) chances against them. Rocklin, with their backup QB, was driving late in the 1st half with a chance to take a 21-20 lead into the locker room. The wheels came off a bit later, but they at least were able to compete for a half all without their stud QB. I realize that Woo is a big loss for Oceanside, but he alone isn't slowing this Bulldogs offense. Browning is making some NFL throws out there.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

I believe that this is among the greatest performances that we have seen in as big a game as this. Many of us were saying the same thing as we watched Elk Grove put up 77 points in that final against Atwater. I believe that Folsom is the best coached, with the best system in place, in the SJS. You must match their braintrust before you can beat them.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

+1
100%
EXACTLY

Most of the insane comments are coming from the soar losers from the CIFSS. Respect goes to Folsom

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

It's becoming more common for kids to graduate early and enroll early so they can be there to learn the ropes and experience spring football. I think Goff did this at Cal his senior year too.

I was thinking the same thing. Because of the huge improvement of Folsom Oline and Dline this year (not mention other aspects of the team) I think 2014 DLS/Folsom match would have been an amazing game. Most likely DLS would create much more collapsing pockets to pressure the QB than other teams. But - man - Jake is getting that ball off quickly even in less than desirable conditions.

He's already a 4 star recruit according to Rivals.

Can't argue with that... I've seen DLS in person this year, and they are ridiculous... But so are these guys.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Oceanside negative18 yards rushing for the half. Domination.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Larry- You are a classic! I love the Hyperbole! Personally, I think Troy Taylor was the next Niner Head coach! I'm going to recant something I've said a few times on here. I always doubted Browning because of what I've seen against DLS and even last week against Grant. Tonight he looks like a polished pac-12 QB. I'm still leery if he has a cannon but that probably number four on a prerequisite of priorities for a QB.

This is essentially the same thing I said on the National board. While this wasn't one of Grant Union's best all-time teams, they were damn good. It truly was a case of a really good team facing an elite team and there's a HUGE difference. Oceanside is finding that out right now, just like Folsom's 2012 and 2013 teams did against DLS.

This Folsom team is on a DLS-like level, regardless whether they would be able to beat that team or not.

Truthfully, only about 4 or 5 teams in this State could play with Folsom for 48 minutes. DLS, Centennial, SJB, and maybe 2 or 3 others.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Williams will have the SEC schools knocking. He has that connection. 5 star by summer.
I think browning competes day 1 like Goff did at CAL. He will open some eyes up in husky land.
A fully healthy team and I like Oceanside over any other SJS school this year.

Nah, can't end that story. This Oceanside team isn't at all a true test. If they were doing this to a top Trinity or PAC-5 team, I'd likely agree. But this Oceanside team isn't any more of a challenge than teams they've already beaten.

I said it leading up to this game. Oceanside, Cathedral and Helix are all fairly comparable. The Pirates might be slightly better than the other 2, but the difference is negligible. And all three aren't really any better than Grant, St. Mary's, Rocklin or Vacaville.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Cole Thompson with a big kickoff return to set up Folsom again near midfield. Thompson is headed to Harvard along with Justice Shelton-Mosley (Capital Christian)

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

What must not be forgotten, and placed in proper perspective, is that Folsom has gone 43-0 in the SJS over the last three seasons. That run is amazing, and in this section Folsom has had no peer. This team has not even been challenged, and the fact that they led two 14-0 teams, a combined 87-7 is dumbfounding. You know, the more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to agree, this team may be the GOAT of the SJS.
