Division I Game Thread: Folsom (68) vs. Oceanside (7)

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Probably 52-33 DLS win if they played this year. The Spartans still too physical for Folsom and better team speed.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

This year's starting quarterback, Browning, finds Jake Jeffrey, next year's starter, down the seam for a 40 yard score. Way too easy. 48-7 Folsom 71 seconds into the second half.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Bailey Laolagi jumps an out route near the goal line to halt the Oceanside drive.

I think a lot of people backed off him when he got injured. That will prove to be a mistake.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Lailogi (sp?) is a stud and should be playing at a pac-12 type school. What a play on the pick!

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

That interception was ridiculous. Years from now, when these guys are as old as some of us writing on these boards, they are going to talk about this night, and they are going to have a blast doing it.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Browning hits Thompson on the slant. Thompson sets state record for most touchdown catches in the season. Folsom has to be getting close to national team scoring mark too.

Folsom leads 55-7. Almost at running clock

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Uh....NorCal is up 2-0 and it really hasn't been close. Just sayin.....

You're crazy Larry. Why? I already pointed to an injury riddled Rocklin team competing much better against Folsom that this Oceanside team has.

I'm telling you, Oceanside could not beat St. Mary's or a healthy Rocklin team. I think Vacaville and Grant could beat them too. Enterprise from the NS could probably compete fairly well, too. Much better than they did against Chaminade anyway.

Yes it was. I really hope Sac State ends up with Laolagi, who has given them a verbal. I think Sam Whitney is considering them too. What a huge haul both would be for that program.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Reports on twitter have attendance at 5,113 tonight. Disappointing number

I'd add Deguara to that list too. Telecast said he was recently offered by Davis. Picked up Air Force earlier.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Folsom has had a running clock in 4th quarter for 16th time this year. Every game. Impressive

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Will folsom jump to #1 in state with this beat down? You can make a good case.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Besides LB Poly in their heyday, as good a public team as I've seen in the state- ever!

How many kids will play college football from Folsom? (At all levels). It has to be in double digits.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Um, he used to the cover zero blitz at the wrong time.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

No Larry- If DLS wins, they are number one. Let's face it, DLS would have done the same thing to Oceanside.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Oceanside blitzes the house and Folsom goes to a screen. Browning to Weldy, who has plenty of blockers. Browning gets the TD record. Folsom gets the scoring record. That'll do.

Folsom leads 62-7

7 or 8 seniors have offers. Williams in the junior class. Gets to double digits quickly

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

I'm just saying this performance could garner some first place votes. I mean this is insane.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

That was the perfect ending to that game. Wow!

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

68-7 Folsom final. Folsom sets the new bowl record for points scored in breaking Central Catholic's 2012 mark. Bailey Laolagi returned a fumble on the final play.

This is one of those performances that will stand up against history. Remarkable year for Folsom.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

Oops. Should have eaten that ball.

When you start talking about 1/2 starters playing college football and throw in browning and superior coaches. Scary recipe,

" larry legend33 posted on 12/20/2014... Will folsom jump to #1 in state with this beat down? You can make a good case."

A case could be made, but doubt it. Folsom was already behind dls. Either dls will have the more impressive victory, cc, or cc will have the more impressive victory over dls. The problem with how socal is set up is that they had all their elite "name brand" teams in one bracket. As I think it was thunder mentioned, O-Side might not have won the SJS D2 bracket. I believe he also mentioned that he thought O-Side, Helix, and CC-SD were more or less interchangeable and we saw what folsom did to CC-SD.

Well Folsom beat Oceanside as if they were just another SJS school, so it appears Oceanside would have fit well in the section, or as well as anyone would against this years Folsom team. In public schools you sometimes get these classes of athletes that happen to come to the same school at the same time. When it happens you get a Elk Grove 98, or a Grant 08, or now a Folsom 14. Those schools all have champion DNA but sometimes the mix is a little more special.

You're a bit off on your numbers. It's 38-0 since their last loss to Vacaville in the 2011 Section final. But you are correct that they really haven't been challenged. The closest anyone in the section has come is 16 points - twice.

I don't see that continuing next season, though, as they not only graduate Browning - who has been at the helm this entire run - but nearly every other starting player. I believe only 2 starters return next season.

Lastly, I don't want to hear Awood try to argue anymore about Folsom "doing it the right way" and not running it up on anyone. They left all their starters in to the end to put up a meaningless score on Rocklin in the Final seconds and did it again tonight. I didn't hear everything Coach Carroll said to Troy Taylor while they shook hands, but he certainly wasn't happy and appeared to say something along the lines of "we would never do that to anyone".

Folsom is a fantastic team, but show a little class - especially on the big stage. You got your coveted State title, there was no need to embarrass Coach Carroll or his players just to get the National scoring and TD pass records.

Didn't folsom only beat Jesuit by 7 in last years sjs semis? Something like 42-35?

I thought exactly the same thing. I mean, how many records did Browning need? I thought that the Oceanside coach was pissed. I'm guessing little acts like this may be why respect may be grudgingly given to Folsom's co-coaches who obviously can coach their asses off, but just as obviously don't believe in Karma.

Not sure where it would be best suited to post this, but...

"Either you guys are all on crack, or I am a Pac 5 elitist. We will find out on Sat. 49-7 Folsom = I have no idea what I am talking about 35-28 = Pac 5 has 7 teams that could hav'e beat both teams. This post was edited on 12/13 10:40 PM by sammyswordsman"

No they wouldn't have. Once they were up 42-0 at half, they would have played their 2nd and 3rd teamers - never putting the ball in the air once - and maybe scored once or twice more if they broke a couple runs. In the end, Oceanside's coach would have felt differently about the loss.

I believe that last TD not only matched the National record of 91 TD passes in a season, but also broke the National single season scoring record by a team. I believe they needed 56 points to tie and 57 to break it.

Yes it did. I'm usually completely against this stuff from Folsom or other teams, but the chance at these records clouds the argument.

I stand corrected. You are 100% correct. I can't believe I overlooked that game in my records. So they were challenged at least once

.

The next closest games were 16 points to Pleasant Grove in 2012 and Granite Bay in 2013. They also won by 17 against Roseville and Ponderosa in 2012. Every other game has been won by at least three TD's or more.
