Division I Game Thread: Folsom (68) vs. Oceanside (7)

Another example of following the herd off the cliff. Folsom didn't get the scoring record. Aledo of Texas scored more than 1,000 in 2013 according to Mitch Stephens

Thanks for clearing that up. I could be mistaken, but I think it was Joe Davidson who mentioned something about Folsom needing 56 points to tie the National scoring record and, if so, it makes sense why it was wrong.

With the news on the scoring record out of reach, just another blow against Folsom keeping their starters in to score again

Just curious why he would be on the field the last 6 seconds of a 62-7 game? Isn't he a starter / key performer? Same with Browning after halftime. O Side was about as good as most expected, the game was over for all intensive purposes going into intermission. Slinging it around in the 4th qtr. with a 48 point lead?

Don't get me wrong, Folsom is a very very special team. I just don't understand the rationale. Hopefully all the kids for Folsom
got into the game (would be ashame if some 4 year non starters who put in hard work and sweat didnt get on the field for a SBG in a rout).

they could've been talking about the state scoring record... 880 pts set by Bloomington

Or they could have been playing it safe because of Del Oro come from behind win in 2009. That had to be a hard pill to swallow that night.

Sammy keeps his record perfect: he hasn't been right about anything. Ever.

Lol. PJ is really feeling his oats this weekend. Good for you.

Admittedly they are better than I thought. Admittedly, the other team was much worse than I thought. The glaring parallel is that despite the claims of the SD section, the Sd section is on the same competitive tier as most (all but two) of the Nor Cal teams.

Agreed that Nor cal has not one! but two Pac 5 Caliber teams. I mistakenly thought there was only one.

There are many more than two PAC 5 quality teams in Nor cal. A better discussion for you might be how many PAC 5 teams could win SJS D 1. Maybe two would have had a chance this year.

Take your time this time - look around and learn from your mistakes and lack of football knowledge. I am not giving up on you. I have a soft spot for St Paul that you benefit from.

Re: Division I Game Thread: Folsom vs. Oceanside

ThunderRam- Touché. My point is that they would have beat them as convincingly. The score was skewed because of the need for records in the minds of Folsom.

You know about St. Paul ? We can be friends now!

To answer your question, after a lot of thought, if their were 7 Pac 5 teams in the SJS section playoffs, this would be your quarterfinal teams

Mater Dei
Poly
JSerra
SJB
Centennial
Serra
Bishop Amat
Folsom

Nice spin attempt. U didn't follow the thread. That's ok

I have a family member that coached football at St Paul in the 70's

Oceanside was the SDS's best team. There were at least 5 teams just in the SJS alone that could beat Oceanside, let alone expanding that to all of NorCal. Grant, St. Mary's, Rocklin (a healthy one), and Vacaville all could play with and possibly beat Oceanside. Rocklin, with a backup QB, was driving late in the first half with a chance to take a lead against Folsom before the wheels came off. They still only trailed by 14 going to the locker room whereas the SDS's best was down by 34.

This was a down year for the SJS and it was still better and deeper than the SDS. Same is true for the CCS. I can't say for sure regarding the NCS, but we know DLS for sure. Maybe Pitt too.

7 or 8 seniors have offers. Williams in the junior class. Gets to double digits quickly

Folsom's senior class 2015 is special. I think 7 seniors will end up playing D1, which is a lot for a single year. I don't know about the underclassmen and how many will end up playing college football.

I doubt Folsom will top the 2010 Grant team which had double digit D1 college players or Pleasant Grove's 2012 team which ended up having 15 D1 college players on that one single team. Those are just D1 numbers and not D2, D3, or NAIA.
