Great game from Eastside ... they'll be a force in D5.

But note, that if the info I got is correct, that next year, Eastside would not drop to D5, but rather to the division the committee felt matched their competitive level -- into other words, most likely D1 and at the lowest D2. The same concept will apply to Pinewood and all schools, supposedly.

I think after ESP goes to the D5 state title game again this year (3rd in a row) after smashing everybody in the Norcals along the way they should get moved up (competitive equity or not)...don't you agree?

ESP and Pinewood have no business in D5. About time they get moved up.
And with CN(to D3)and BOD(to D2) being moved up next year...that should make the higher divisions even stronger.
Although our D5 and D4 reps will get CREAMED in the state championships if all that happens. Because right now only ESP and Pinewood have D5 state champion potential in the North. And only CN and possibly West Campus in D4.

I would have liked to see the SJS leave Brookside in D4 so as to keep up the quality of the division.

Don't it seem like most team in the CCS section always stay in the same division or is it just me????? They could win 5 to 6 section championship or State Championship and still be in the same division!!!!!!

Brookside is done. One more year in D1 will wipe out the program and the coaching staff will make a mass exodus. Since Que left the incoming freshman have not materialized

They said Brookside was done 3 years ago when he supposed have left be we all know the truth about that!!!! ACTUALLY IT GOING TO HELP BROOKSIDE AND ITS GOING TO HELP THEM GET MORE PLAYERS THEN BEING IN D4 OR D5 WHEN COACH K WAS THERE. BROOKSIDE IS A VERY SMALL SCHOOL HANGING WITH THE D1 SCHOOLS. WHEN THE SJS SECTION MAYBE THE NEW RULE TO PUT BROOKSIDE IN D1. IT'S WORKING IN REVERSE ENROLLMENT WILL BE HIGH NEXT YEAR WATCH!!!!!!!

The plan is that next year teams will be slotted in NorCals by the committee and not by enrollment. So Pinewood and ESCP, for example, will likely be D1 if they don't go open. Same with teams like Salesian, Miramonte, Campolindo, Lincoln, Oak Ridge. etc.

That means that the lower divisions will be much weaker, but presumably all of them will be much more competitive.

the lower divisions will be competitive in the North only...they will get absolutely killed in the STATE final.

NORTH
DIV 4 and 5...CRUSHED,KILLED, ANNIHILATED in state.....50, 60+ PT victory's for South
DIV 3...still beaten soundly.
DIV 2...more competitive but still South winning comfortably
OPEN and DIV1 will be battles and contested.

the overall depth of the SOUTH will dominate the NORTH except at the highest levels.

Remember that the south D4 rep last year (ANTELOPE VALLEY) was the 1 seed in D4 or the 57th ranked team in Socal according to the competetive equity committee. They were (school size) a D2 team that had won 30 games in a row.
AV would have been a TOP 25 team in Norcal.

OPEN.....8
D1..........16
D2..........16
D3..........16
total: 56

The North was able to win D3, D4 and D5 STATE games because we had a couple of really good teams at those levels. After Comp Equity takes place that will no longer be true.

The NORTH is about to get their collective A$$es handed to them.

Which South D5 team is going to beat Brookside by 60 next year...in their state final....too much 420 this morning

Brookside is D1 next year, I believe. A two-year sentence for getting stuck in the Open against their will.

It really is unfair. Brookside Christian was placed in the Open by a completely different group than the organization that will keep it in D1 for two years. Again, why punish teams that make the Open? It's bad enough that no respect is earned for qualifying, but to then condemn a team like Brookside -- which would be very competitive in a lower division -- to D1 makes no sense.

As for the North losing D3-D5 state games, for most of the history of the state championships, the North has dominated divisions 4 and 5, so the pendulum is merely swinging back.

Another note: Mater Dei, thanks to losing two overtime games in the Southern Section Open, will drop to D2 in the SoCal Regionals.

Brookside has one freshman and four juniors returning. The window of opportunity has been shut for them. The rode the sails of Que as long as they could and could not make it to Nor Cal by year three. It is really sad. Hopefully, they bring him back to rebuild the program.

Don't be mad that's Brookside moved on with Coach K !!! Pico is way better coach with less players in D1. When K was coach at Brookside he ducked ever team that and everyone that was ranked!! Pico ducks nobody and would love to see them to in the AAU circuit. The only thing Oakland Soldiers don't play in Reno or the second division in every tournament. Brookside will be strong again for years to coming until Pico moves on to NCAA as a head coach !!!!!!

CLAYK
If I'm remembering correct, the stat I heard watching last years D4 broadcast was....prior to CN winning the D4 state last year the south had won D4 7 yrs. in a row. I may have to disagree and say you are mistaken on that one Clayk.

Brookside will never be D5 ever again with competitive equity....

and I don't smoke 420....

and I'll be right with my analysis when its all said and done next year. In fact I think we could see a game at the D5 level where the south winner wins the game by something like 90-25.
We had an EXCELLENT D5 rep last yr. ESP. And that game was a battle right down to the wire. Now ESP will end up in D1 or D2. And don't forget the South is already doing comp Equity so their rep last year is the level of team that will always be there.

I'm telling you its going to be ugly.

I just think Que is a really good coach. I don't know about the AAU circuit so I will take your word on that but let's not forget who started the BC program and brought them their only state title.
