2020 Capital Christian/Team Sacramento wing Evan Johnson (6-foot-4) started to show some of his promise in the second half of his junior year and carried it forward to a good showing during the Live Period at SoCal Live.
Making a big jump up to No. 19 overall in the 2020 class rankings, Johnson wins off the bounce with either hand. Combining a long stride with a good first step allows Johnson to attack seams and get good looks at the rim. He is expanding his offense to add scoring punch in the mid-range and three point area.
Johnson is a good rebounding wing. He can corral rebounds in traffic and also reads the ball well off the rim.
On defense, Johnson plays with a good activity level and shrinks passing lanes. His length also allows him to contest shots.
As a junior, Johnson averaged eight points, three rebounds and 1.4 steals per game. His second half of the year saw an eight game stretch when he averaged 11 points per game and made nearly half of his season total three pointers.
Johnson is a low major recruit and one of the fastest risers in the 2020 class coming out of the first live period.
