Congrats to Nuno! After being named first team All-Big 8 conference at Diablo Valley his freshman year he has got himself a D1 ride. Who would of thought a D1 player out of HMB the Dr. and his staff must be doing something right.

I, too am happy for Rico. The staff at HMB, the school community, his parents and family should all be proud of him. However, I would also credit the staff at DVC with developing him this past year, and more importantly, pushing hard to get him to the four year level with three years of eligibility remaining. Coach Steve Coccimiglio has been doing a great job there for over 30 years, but his lead recruiting assistant Coach Derrick Jones, has been instrumental of late, in bringing in high character student athletes, and working hard to place them at appropriate four year levels for their ability. Congrats to Rico and all who have helped him along the road. It takes a village!

Rico Nuno Commits to Eastern Washington

That's great news for Rico and all his coaches and extended family. Coastside kids never really went anywhere until the Doctor stopped by and took over. Kenny Milch did a nice job but the coastside use to resemble YMCA basketball.

I will say one thing about Eastern Washington in Hoops and Football. They lead the league in kids becoming homesick and returning to California only to maybe change their minds again.

Albert Tuipulotu did the yoyo gizmo because 2 of his pops brothers - Peter and Tom went to BYU. I believe that Toke Kefu went and played there. Granted most of these are football examples.

U R correct BKWRDKUROUT in your above assessment & first thing I thought of when I saw E.W.U.
Yes Toke Kefu did attend Eastern Wash, but football did not pan out for him [the all time CCS rushing leader at the time].
I remember Kefu in an interview saying he was homesick for the bay area.
Whom ever attends E.W. has better bring their umbrella.
