Jonathan Galloway of UC Irvine, who played his last 2 years of basketball at Salesian High School was named the Big West Defensive Player of the Year this past week for UC Irvine.

UC Irvine finished 1st in the Big West and also had the coach of the year (Russell Turner) and Player of the Year (Luke Nelson).

Galloway a Red-Shirt Sophomore has simply gotten better and better every single year and has started all 32 games this year

Galloway has the size (6'10), the work ethic, and the competitive drive and has been a great fit
at UC Irvine. A lot of teams missed out on him or did not project what his college game would look like. He has been a defensive 5/4 at UC Irvine.

UC Irvine has had major success the last 4 years with Russell Turner at the helm winning 20 games 4 consecutive years and will most likely win 20 games this year to make it 5 straight years of 20 wins.

UC Irvine has had success recruiting Northern California with recent players:

Will Davis (Sacramento HS)
Travis Souza (Turlock HS)
Michael Best (Terra Linda HS)
Reed McConnell (Sacred Heart Prep HS)
Jonathan Galloway (Salesian HS)

Congrats Jonathan! Another former NorCal Wildcat absolutely shining at the next level. A lot of very high level players came from that camp in a very short time of existence. A special group of kids and families.

Very cool honor for Jonathan. Has put a lot of work into his game
