June Live Periods in Cali

CIF will not participate in the June Live Period.
What does this mean for the class of 2020??

This whole thing is a hot mess. Nothing will change except kids will have less days to impress college coaches. Terrible for the borderline kids

More games will be live streamed because of this.

Coaches will watch the games from the comfort of their home or office.

AAU is what the coaches show up too.

College coaches like to see kids in person. They want to see how kids react to adversity, how they support their teammates and if they listen to their coaches. This is a big cluster that will hurt alot of kids wanting to go to college but it will also have colleges making bad decisions on who they bring to their school.Transfer rate will be even higher now.

If you ask most high school coaches they just want one thing. That's the month of June, not for viewing periods, but for going to team camps, exposing kids to college/dorm/campus life, high level summer tournaments. End of June most coaches release the kids for Aau for entire month of July. This thing is all screwed up.

They tried to repair an issue with summer basketball, didn’t really repair it and opened up another wound. Bang up job!

This is going to really hurt lesser known players and/or those from smaller high schools.

Old system wasn’t perfect, but it had a good balance between AAU/high School and got kids some exposure time.
