Jurrion Dickey Transferring out of the Bay Area

Hard to predict with Bryce Young. He has talent but just not height. These pro talent evaluators will find the flaws. Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray are not tall but are solid below the waist. Young doesnt have thick legs and Robert Griffin III comes to mind. His legs just couldnt take the punishment of the NFL and his career was cut short.

St. Francis has 2, DLS has 2, Bishop O'Dowd has 5, Serra has 3.
The waiting is over....that's a lot of palyers...

98% those kids end up at MJC. That aint Bam
For many of them that is true. However, MJC has built itself up into one of the best JC's around, and off the last season's team 31 players got scholarships to four-year schools. Mostly smaller programs but still it's an opportunity for them. A running back from my old school (Turlock) got a scholarship from Kansas St. JC's are a good opportunity for athletes that need a second chance for whatever reason. Even on a high school level many players from California that are not good enough for Div. 1 or FCS get recruited by small colleges in other states, especially the Midwest, that don't have enough players in their own areas. We've got more than enough, they don't have enough.

And I don't care! I like REAL high school football! I get it you like to follow these kids to Bama. I enjoy watching the grandkids of my classmates play. I enjoy meeting parents and fans from opposing teams. That's how I met Champ. That's how I met Slug bug. The one down thing about high school football. Is how certain schools have separate sides. Sonora you all sit on same side. There is sports academy schools. Don't try to pass them off as high schools! Why did California stop playing IMG? Sports academy not real high school!
i hate bama.

Remember the good old days when you played for the town you lived in from youth to HS. It seemed to mean more back then. I have not strapped up since the 80’s but that was the feel. The Central Valley and Texas appear to still have that muster.
i mean the good old days also didnt allow you to type on that electronic device you have or have unlimited porn at your fingertips either. what i time to be alive

This is where the loss of the likes of Chico, SF, Sonoma, Hayward St. Mary’s, Santa Clara, Menlo and even Long Beach and Fullerton etc really have hurt the choices California kids have.

The ones who aren’t P5 Stanford and SC level, but can play on at a lower level and still get an education. I mean just say a roster of 60 players for those schools alone would give another 600 spots to players in state.

Agreed!! An even larger impact of the NCAC schools shutting down football is that so many high school teachers and coaches came from those programs. Up until the late 90's, I would bet that most of us played for coaches that suited up for Chico, SF State, SJ State, Sac, Hayward, etc. There are many factors on how/why it is difficult to find football coaches in the Bay Area, with cost of living being #1, but not having those football programs as a feeder system has to be a factor.

100%. I’m sure the Vic Rowen coaching tree alone is huge.

Who is Jurrion's "dude?" "

If he is going to Oregon and has his scholarship on lock why leave home and quality program at VC to play in SoCal. Is he trying to get a better offer Does leaving home at 17 help him as a young man, Or should he complete his high school experience with his friends and family. If he had no offers and trying to get one I would understand the move more

if you have a quality toyota and someone gives you a McLaren, its a no brainer. his friends will always be his friend, his family will always be his family. matter of fact, he will still be living with his family as he cant afford to live on his own. (imagine that) it isnt a move you would understand because you will never have to understand it.

People should really read the article
The VC coach is quoted that this is not an athletic motivated transfer. So it obviously is some family motivated move

I also said Serra has three, but forgot that Easop Winston is with the Saints, so Serra has four now.

If the family has moved to SoCal, then why would, or how could, Jurrion stay at VC. I'm not saying that is what has happened, but I am surprised that everyone appears to assume the transfer (or possible transfer) is motivated by the kid's football experience. It could be an untimely family move.

Machado is quoted in the Merc as saying the transfer is not football related. "Machado said the move is not related to football and that he harbors no ill will toward Dickey or his family."

I guess I have a level of distrust with people comments. I am sure Machado is a good guy and absolutely wants what’s best for kid… so of course he is going to say not athletically driven move. It’s a greater distrust of SoCal schools getting NorCal talent. Amazingly the family is moving in/around/near MD 🤔

You get to play and practice with elite talent and resources. You get to travel and play versus superior competition. Why would you be upset because a athlete wants to try to compete versus the best? It is your job as a parent to put your child in the best possible situation to succeed. Athletes or science student whatever they may be.
So move your whole family to SoCal (to avoid sit out) and play for "the best" possible program. Oh and he may want to hold onto the soap, given the history of hazing at MD. Sounds like a great opportunity to build character...

I’ve heard that MD is literally paying a number of parents a very respectable amount to move to Santa Ana and have their son play for Bruce Rollinson. Crazy if so. I wonder what the value of some of these programs is.

you know, some people just like LA metro

It might be worth noting that Serra will feature what is touted as a premier 2021 transfer at QB this season: Maealluaki Smith. He is now a 6-4 junior. He came to the San Mateo WCAL unit from the Sacramento area last year. He was a backup in 2021 but it's his show now. By all accounts, the kid is a serious prospect. We shall see.

Who? I thought Coach said in his little interview that Serra and the WCAL don't recruit!? He said it takes away from the high school experience and the freshman getting the chance to work up to the starting spot...... Alright well, first game Away against Folsom and Walker Lyon. Time to get the popcorn ready. I might tune in during the commercial breaks of the MD BG game that night.
