Mor Seck has been offered by Kansas

First of all I can confirm that he is indeed 7'2 now.....still young enough to keep growing. Remember Giannis didn't stop growing until he was 20.

For his height, Mor is a unique talent. I think the combo of him and Sensley over the next 2 years is going to be something we talk about in the Bay Area for years to come. I don't see one Bay Area team this year competing with Riordan and keeping it within single digits. I just don't.

This is just the beginning. I have heard Oregon, Gonzaga, Florida, Florida St., and Memphis are all on the verge of offering, and that doesn't include all the HBCU's and smaller schools that will also be offering him in the coming months. My sources at a smaller school has already told me they gave up on recruiting Seck months ago, because they think he is going to go high major or G-League.

Seck is a great kid. It's not easy coming from a foreign land to America and succeeding as quickly as he has. Last year we saw a very Raw Seck. Now....I think this season and next we are about a to see a Aaron Gordon-Esque type talent.

Adding CCS Frosh of the Year, King-Jhsanni Wilhite to the backcourt with Lee Hubbard will have the bigger impact. Combine that with Mor and Rob Vaihola's size and length and it will create serious matchup challenges. Rob was out half of the league season last year and was rounding into form in the postseason and had, by many accounts, a very strong offseason. Lee Hubbard also had a strong offseason. Not too much info on Sensely, but he comes into a perfect situation that if he earns a varsity spot, he can settle in without having to worry to shoulder the team's load. The Crusaders have some solid returnees and appear to also have another strong incoming freshman class. We hopefully will see in 2021.

Before Sensley committed to Riordan, he was assured he would be given a Varsity spot. He was not going to go to a school, with his skill set, and essentially sit out a year on JV. Sensley is a current 4-star, with the potential for 5-stars when his career is said and done. Riordan has NEVER in their history had a Freshman who was so highly regarded.

Congrats Mor! Speaking of Sensley, Cal-Hi Sports back in the day had Riordan's Brett Crawford (pre 1982), Dwayne Fontana (1985-86) and Jaha Wilson (1988-89) ranked as the top incoming 9th graders. Crawford played Varsity as a soph. A previous post confirmed that Fontana played JVs his frosh and soph years. I believe Jaha played Varsity as a freshman. The only other incoming freshman I know that started on Varsity for Riordan was Jelani Clark.

Valley Christian's 6-11 Tichyque Musaka 2022 already has offers from KU, LSU, Marquette, USC and Oregon to name a few. Those VC-Riordan games are going to be must see games.

Wrong. You may be a lil new to this ayalar. This star system is new....from the 2000s. But that isn't to say the school hasn't had highly regarded frosh. Kevin Restani was highly regarded as a 6 foot 10 frosh from the outer Mission. Same for Brett Crawford. Erick Newman. Terrence Mullins. Dwayne Fontana, Jaha Wilson.

Sensley is a talent. He is about 6-6/ maybe 6-7, and he is long. He has a good skill set to be a wing, from what I have seen in private workouts. The sky is the limit for him. He also has good hoop pedigree, as his dad was a good player at Hawaii. But he will have to learn it and earn it. Nothing will be giving. Riordan has another good freshmen who will be heard from down the line in a few years. Maybe 2. Its all about development, patience, and stepping up when it's your time.

That was a great list. Story. Some live up to hype. Others fall off. And others come out of nowhere.

I think Bishop O'Dowd might have something to say about nobody in the Bay keeping it within single digits

Ayalar can be quite hyperbolic (see James Wiseman post). Most others keeping it real. I'd throw in Dublin, Campo, Mitty, Bellarmine, Moreau, Salesian and out of area squads Sheldon and Modesto Christian as other teams with something to say.

no matter how much Kansas thinks of Seck. in high school basketball if you do not have guard play Seck wont get the ball in effective spots. ODowd, Sheldon and Mitty have really good guards.

Dublin's roster the past 2 seasons created the most challenging match ups for the Crusaders IMO. That 2018-19 game was a 4pt thriller at the end of the Newark Memorial Tip-off. Coach Costello's teams are talented and well coached.

I haven't weighed in on this thread yet, so what the heck... Hitting a couple related subjects, too...

Mor Seck, as said above, was pretty raw last season, but I understand he was fairly new to the game. No doubt he showed a ton of potential, tho... It's really hard to tell just how much skill a big center will develop, but I'd say if a program like Kansas is calling, he's worth watching. Also, like mentioned above, if Seck is going to develop offensively, he's gotta have guards that can get him the ball. Either that or keep working on becoming a defensive force.

So far as O'Dowd goes... If nobody has transferred out like has happened to a lot of privates recently, they will be a force. I had them picked as an upset winner in the NorCal final v. Sheldon that got Corona'd. They do have to find someone to take over for Bowser and maybe some others, but with Roberson and Lewis, they'll be hard to deal with.

Sheldon has a whole lot to replace from their nationally-ranked squad last year. But they have a lot coming in, both from last year's bench and the JV's, one of the best JV teams I've ever seen. I did hear somewhere that the heir-apparent at PG transferred out.

Based on Sheldon's apparent need to retool and the fact Riordan has to find a new guard combo, I have to make O'Dowd my way-too-early pick to get it done in NorCal next year. Just throwin' that on the wall to see if it sticks...

Looks like the over-arching story this coming season might be that a lot of top players have apparently left privates and headed to publics. Might be a big year for the public school teams...

Jaha Wilson played on the Riordan Junior Varsity his freshman year. He was promoted to the Varsity for the Playoff Games.

Dwayne Fontana played on the Freshmen A team that went 19-0, then on the JV team, his Sophomore year that went undefeated as well, at I believe 25-0.
Junior Varsity season record for Dwayne Fontana's team was 21-0
Jaha Wilson's Junior Varsity season record was 18-3 (10-2) as a freshman. League Co-Champions with St. Ignatius.

Fontana and Ray Kelly were 2 of my favorites to play. Dorian Maningo was also a Crusader stud in that era.

That list was a great read btw. Crazy to read some of those names from the 80's and early 90's.

I have to be honest, I completely forgot about Musaka. But at the same time, I look at VC and their team, and outside of Musaka they have no improved much. Riordan next season, for sure will have a huge advantage over VC, and every other league opponent.

Hopefully we have some version of CIF/NCS next season so Riordan can play some great out of league games, but if it's just league games, I agree that Riordan/VC will be the game to watch.

P.S: Kansas is going hard in the Bay Area in 2022...might be Big Twelve Norcal Edition in Jayhawk Country come 2023!

Jaha was mine and OneDNA's teammate on JV his freshman year. He moved up to varsi

Pat our you sure about that? My memory states that the last game of the year we played Serra who was 9-2 like us. And that last game ended up being for the championship, basically. And we beat them pretty good with a late run and Jaha dunking on 2 guys for an "and one"....I don't think SI was 10-2

Your memory is getting foggy. We beat SI twice that year but lost to Serra and Bellarmine

Saint Ignatius is listed as the Co-Champion in the WCAL Record Book for that season.

He isn't Wiseman for sure....
We'll find out next year when he steps on the court for Hawaii.

Ease up on this kid. One person unfortunately deemed him a James Wiseman type player. He’s only played organized basketball for 5 years coming over from faraway Senegal to make a better life for himself. Can’t we just wish this man all the best? Heck, let’s give all the kids moving on to play at the next level well wishes.
