NCS open-division 3 seedings

I think Salesian has to get the number 1 seed. Salesian is the only team in open that beat both DV and SRV.
I would tend to agree that Salesian should get the #1 seed. Wins vs SRV and DV. Significant win vs Modesto Christian. Game could have gone either way against Riordan. And Riordan won decisively against SRV by 24 points and SRV had a few more games under its belt.

Valid victories . If SRV beats De La tommorow. They will let the chips fall where the mp rankings place them. This is the most likely scenario. Solely talking Srv and Salesian.

Hopefully, head-to-head matchups applies, a win over De La should not play any part in deciding who should go number 1. Salesian beat DV, and SRV. Salesian also beat Modesto who beat Lincoln who beat SRV.

Thursday’s EBAL semis & Saturday’s final should play a large role in the seeding of EBAL teams. Dublin lost to DLS tonight, while Cal topped MV.

Thursday semi’s:
3) Cal @ 2) Dougherty
4) DLS @ 1) SRV

Normally seeding doesn’t matter unless travel distance is involved. But I do see why it’s important to Salesian cause it’s a big advantage for them playing at Contra Costa JC. Place is tough for visiting teams the way the gym is set up and Salesian is accustomed to it. If Salesian does not get the 1 seed, I don’t see them coming out of semis.

Now it has srv as 2nd … hmmm it’s almost as if it’s constantly updating .. the gap between de la and srv seems to be large. They did beat the number 4 team last night. It will be interesting to see how much credit it gives to SRV if they win the game tonight. If De La wins it appears to be a clincher for #1 spot . For mp rankings

DLS vs SRV should be a great game. I think that DLS size could give SRV some troubles while SRV has much better 3 point shooters so it'll be an interesting matchup from that aspect. Blair is a handful so I wouldn't be too surprised if he was able to will them to a road win but gotta think that SRV will prevail on their home court.

How does Washington get in as #57 ranking on MP when they are a D1 school?
If they lose to Newark (seems likely) on Friday I'm sure that will drop them out. But yeah seems like they would need to be 54th unless there are 3 teams above them in the rankings that don't qualify.

1) Salesian
2) Winner of EBAL
3) Liberty
4) Loser of EBAL

I would personally only do 4 this year and let D1 be a brawl for it all

Ayalar,

I think they have to take 6. The NCS has a certain amount bid's to the CIF tourney. If they only put 4 in the open, then they would have to figure out how to distribute the other 2 auto bids. Some would say let the D1 finalists and semi finalists in.... but that would pretty much be exactly what happens with the current open format. This makes sure that the top 6 teams in the NCS, regardless of division gets into the CIF tourney.

Which team did you choose ?

Srv wins this game if they turn it into a track meet

De La Salle finally decides to get out of the 18th century. One dimensional half court set only, type mentality. Who would’ve thought they are the ones leading the fast pace of this game. Transition offense is looking dynamite. De La 32 SRV 22 SRV needs a heavy dose of Thomas . Doesn’t matter how it goes in the basket. What matters ? Thomas starts with the ball every single time they are not in transition.

With 6 your looking at

1) Salesian (BYE)
2) De La Salle (BYE)
3) Liberty
4) Dublin
5) Cal/Dougherty Valley Winner
6) San Ramon Valley

The top 6 appear to be locked in cal high Should be a 1 seed in D1 only debate left Is seeding order 4 thru 6 Dublin should be no lower then 4 they have a win over DV who is in the championship game!

SRV also had a win over DV and they beat Dublin too.,,,should they be above Dublin?

I’m trying to figure out Liberty. Yes their record is very good. They are a league champ in an awful league. Not their fault. But if you know you’re in a bad league you schedule tough in non-league. They really didn’t. They played Lincoln-Stockton (Loss). But I can’t figure out their best win???

DLS (with victory on Saturday if lose 3rd)
Salesian (DLS loss they move to 1)
SRV (Dougherty win drop to #5)
Liberty
Dublin (Dougherty win Saturday drop to 6)
Dougherty (with loss on Saturday , with a win they move all the way to 2 seed, Salesian 1 and Dublin to 6th)

Liberty has a 25 point win over Bishop Montgomery….not the same BM we all know and love but still a good win non the less. 6 point win over Vanden. 13 point win against Weston Ranch. 9 pts against a good Grant team.

Yes they got blown out by Lincoln Stockton, but Lincoln is a borderline Open team in CIF. So that loss isn’t horrible, neither is their campo loss.

I’d give em a shot but maybe they should slip back to 5 or 6

I think all this who-beat-who-and-by-how-much stuff is one of the main reasons why most sections and also CIF have decided to let computer rankings be the #1 factor in seedings…

What they really need to do is improve the computer ranking systems, because they pretty much suck.
