Word around Brentwood is Partridge is stepping down. Rumors swirling that the new head coach will be Hoff who was the last Dublin head coach. I’m sure this story will be blasted by the end of the day. Sad to see. The BVAL might have lost a good one. I think his brother is a coach at Ole Miss. wonder if he’s going there.

That would be Hoefs; “hayfs.” Matt started as Frosh O coach at Cal High circa 2008, during the last part of Sanchez years. His dad Bill, was fr HC. After Sanchez went to BG, left Cal and a stint at AV, Matt’s alma mater. Then HC at Arroyo, quickly to Dublin as HC, but no campus job. Moved out Liberty way, campus job, moved up to OC. Bill moved from Pton and did FB/Bsb lower level.
Excellent coaches. Dad was a huge reason Sanchez got well coached kids moving up to Varsity, and Sanchez took Cal to the Coliseum twice. Interestingly, if memory serves, Bill had Partridges cousin? as a frosh.

Matt Hoefs is a very good coach and history has shown his dad Bill coaching the JV is a good combo.
@6. Welcome. What’s the rub? No teaching position on campus +, with all due respect to the Village Parkway school, there was a significant talent gap from the Gaels to Lions. A really good coach can become great with talent; HOF great if you know the guy who lived down the street from DHS! A very good coach with average talent may not shine as brightly. But a really good coach with 4+ years in place can resurrect a moribund program; i.e. 3 miles north.
