The governor made it plain today that his tough rules on re-opening in-classroom learning apply to private and parochial schools as well as the publics.

Saw this today from local reporting: "During a lunchtime news conference today, Gov. Gavin Newsom unveiled his guidelines for schools to reopen — including a proviso that would only let classrooms start accepting students in counties that have been off his coronavirus "watch list" for 14 days. Otherwise, all instruction in public and private schools in those counties will have to be done remotely, Newsom said.

"The health and safety of our teachers, students, and staff must be our top priority, while also allowing our students to continue to learn during the Covid-19 pandemic," Newsom added on his Twitter page, which he regularly uses to make important announcements.

More than 30 counties are on the state's "watch list," including Monterey County."
