Nor Cal Clash practice/preview (game is Sunday at Contra Costa at 3pm)

Even though the result was pretty much as-expected (seniors win by 19), it was an entertaining, competitive game for 3+ quarters before it turned into the typical All-Star no-D getoutathewaywhileIdunk show.

Akinjo was hame MVP, scoring a NorCal Clash record 43 points despite a slow start in which he shot cold early and also racked up 4 fouls before the 2nd Q was halfway over. It seemed that 4th foul got his competitive juices flowing and he was pretty much unstoppable afterward. Didn't get any more fouls called on him, either.

The seniors won each quarter by about 8-10 points, getting as far as 30-35 points ahead before garbage time.

Other observations

Those 5'8" twin brothers from Sheldon on the juniors team have arms bigger than my legs, fulla muscle. I bet they'd be hard to tackle on the football field, but we'll never know cuz they aren't playing that. Neither of them could do much about Akinjo, but they look like they can play...

Jordan Brown was there, but two fingers on his right hand are bandaged/splinted, so he didn't play.

The Bellarmine senior Jake Wojcik can light it up from the perimeter and looks to be a heady player, too.

For those who don't know, Logan Johnson can freaking jump right outa the gym... Plays hard, too. He had a few truly spectacular swats that are well worth looking for if/when this game finds its way to YouTube.

Looks like Mason Forbes is filling out some and adding muscle, too. He played a terrific game.

6'6" Tracy junior Isaiah Hawthorne looked like a man with a bright future in front of him.

The twins go to Salesian WITH Akinjo and played football up until this year. Best backcourt in Norcal and all 3 defend.

Oops... dunno why I saw Salesian on the program and thought Sheldon... D'oh!

Las Lomas back court will be as good if not better. Prince, Payne and Robinson are all legit. Individually Akinjo is top guard but collectively I would take LL back court.

@1124bell not even close dude. Salesian guards will eat them up. They don't defend or have the toughness those cats do. Also Akinjo is on another level.

I will take Capital Christian's backcourt with zach 6'3, Rick 6'4, Trey 6'0.

I will also take Folsom's backcourt with Jace, Martis, and Isaiah.

Salesian's backcourt would be 3rd at best

UMMMMMMM are you guys KIDDING ME right now....if i knew how to tag and add previous posts on here id put you on blast but GTFOH....... Salesian EASILY and by far has the best backcourt in northern cali. Akinjo is FAR and AWAY the best guard in this class and there shouldnt be no debate about that. Both twins might be offensivly challenged right now but the DEFEND. They all defend!! I understand one may have a sac biased here but Akinjo could be REALLY special.

It's really not even that close. The bias is more Bay Area based not sac based. Hopefully, we get to see the backcourts battle it out at Gridley.

You Bay Area guys are out of your minds. James is the best guard in NorCal but that doesn't make Salesian have the best backcourt. The twins are tiny and very limited offensively. I would rank CC, Folsom and bishop o'dowd as having better overall back courts.

@vukovich once again you are stating opinions and not facts. They're tiny? But guaranteed their strength and toughness makes up for that. Saw them play against Odowd last year and they for sure looked like the better backcourt. It's hard for teams to even bring the ball up against their pressure. Folsom doesn't have one division 1 guard on their team.
