Week #2
So the MVC game was canceled due to a stadium light issue so 11-5 total last week. Some surprises to me:
1. Soledad blowing out Greenfield. I thought these programs were a little closer
2. Watsonville not Blowing out PV. Apparently, these programs are closer.
3. Gilroy losing to Santa Cruz. A Gabilan school should not lose to a middle of the pack Cyprus school, ever.
I did not look super close at the schedule, Salinas and North Salinas played last night. My pick would have been Salinas 34-7. Salinas won 71-7. Scoring 71 points in a game is impressive no matter the opponent. Mind you it was 34-0 in the first qtr. Needles to Say Salinas looked really good, at least for a night. 19 More games this weekend.
Fri 09/06 Greenfield (CA) at King City (CA), 7:30pm- Can greenfield bounce back after being humbled by Soledad? No, King City wins 28-12
Fri 09/06 Monte Vista Christian (Watsonville, CA) at North Monterey County (Castroville, CA), 7:30pm- Hopefully the lights turn on at NMC stadium. I like MVC in this one 31-14
Fri 09/06 Monterey (CA) at Watsonville (CA), 7:30pm- Monterey pulled one out vs Alvarez, while Watsonville a had close game vs PV. I like Monterey 34-21
Fri 09/06 Alisal (Salinas, CA) at Alvarez (Salinas, CA), 7:30pm- this may be the best local match up. I will take Alvarez 21-20
Fri 09/06 Oakdale (CA) at Aptos (CA), 7:30pm-Oakdale is a great program, but from what I understand they are not as strong away from their hometown. Aptos 34-30
Fri 09/06 Sacred Heart Cathedral (San Francisco, CA) vs Palma (Salinas, CA) at Kezar Stadium (San Francisco, CA), 7:00pm- Palma needs to make some defense adjustments and probably share the load a little on offense. I like Palma here 28-14
Fri 09/06 Wilcox (Santa Clara, CA) vs San Benito (Hollister, CA) at Levi's Stadium (Santa Clara, CA), 5:00pm- Under the bright lights at Levi. I think wilcox will be a bit to much for the haybalers. Wilcox 35-14
Fri 09/06 Christopher (Gilroy, CA) at Live Oak (Morgan Hill, CA), 7:00pm- Live Oak had a nice win over a solid Burlingame program. Christopher got beat badly by TKA. Acorns win 40-14
Fri 09/06 Gilroy (CA) at Soledad (CA), 7:00pm- If Gilroy cant beat santa Cruz I don’t see them winning any games this year. Soledad 41-7
Fri 09/06 Carmel (CA) at Templeton (CA), 7:30pm- Carmel avoids a Shoe hangover and gets by Templeton 45-21
Fri 09/06 Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, CA) at Seaside (CA), 7:30pm- Seaside defiantly scheduled up here. Maybe a bit too far up? BOD should win 35-14
Fri 09/06 Mt. Diablo (Concord, CA) at Harbor (Santa Cruz, CA), 7:00pm-2 in a row for Harbor? Probably not. Mt Diablo 24-10
Fri 09/06 Vacaville Christian (Vacaville, CA) vs Marina (CA) at Monterey Peninsula College (Monterey, CA), 6:00pm- This will be a better measuring stick for Marina then the Seaside game was. But still not win. VC 35-7
Fri 09/06 St. Francis (Watsonville, CA) at Yerba Buena (San Jose, CA), 7:30pm-How many will St Francis suit up? Hopefully enough for the win. St Francis 14-7.
Fri 09/06 Pacific Grove (CA) at Gonzales (CA), 7:30pm- This game was moved to Saturday (I think). I like Gonzales in a close one 21-20
Sat 09/07 San Lorenzo Valley (Felton, CA) at Sobrato (Morgan Hill, CA), 3:00pm- SLV bounces back 24-12
Sat 09/07 Pajaro Valley (Watsonville, CA) at Soquel (CA), 7:30pm- I think Soquel gets by an improved PV program. Soquel 21-17
Sat 09/07 Stevenson (Pebble Beach, CA) at Webb (Claremont, CA), 2:00pm-Save the best for last!!! RLS starts the season with a win 24-6. Pirateball Baby!!!!
