I have no idea how anyone feels about Folsom as of today, but back in 2018, several of the SFL schools wanted Folsom to go independent in football. The Sac Bee did a pretty big write-up and a version of the story made it into USA Today High School Sports....How does the rest of the league feel about Folsom’s dominance of the league for quite a few years now?
How is scheduling Serra pretty weak? They couldn't even beat a 5-6 Serra team at home, beat the teams on your schedule first and then schedule upThey have been beaten. Rocklin got them and Granite Bay Did as well. OR has had a long 20-year gap but was so close last year.
I think they should definitely schedule better. Serra and LBP proved to be pretty weak. OR had a harder SOS.

A few years back, yes. Folsom was an open enrollment school. Not sure why but they closed enrollment for 2 years (2007ish) I believe. You could see the drop off. Then all of a sudden it was back on?Was this a few years back when WWHS44 said Folsom HS was not allowing transfers?
I’m going to assume Folsom not only gets students from inside the district, Cordova HS and Vista Del Lago HS but also out side EDH is probably getting hit hard with that, but are some of their players from Sac? Did I even hear some Del Paso/Grant kids making the drive up 50?
A little more parity would be nice, the SJS plays some really good football. From top to bottom it’s the best football section in NorCal, especially considering the small amount of private schools.
I think he meant Serra ended up being pretty weak, compared to where they had been the last few years. Scheduling them wasn’t weak, and it turned out Serra even beat them. I’m sure they thought Serra & LBP would be stronger teams at the time these games were scheduled. How is scheduling Serra pretty weak? Agreed, Folsom figured Serra would be good after being Open State runners up. LBP has a long tradition of great football, though they haven’t been a powerhouse in quite a while. But they can reemerge at any timeI think he meant Serra ended up being pretty weak, compared to where they had been the last few years. Thanks Observer. That is exactly what i meant. There schedule was weak. Serra lost tons off that team that went to Open so it was well known they would be down. LBP isn't a fraction of what they use to be. Folsom just screwed themselves on an off night. Right now they are the best team in Norcal.I think he meant Serra ended up being pretty weak, compared to where they had been the last few years. Excellent post as always!….Few things,
It’s reported that LBP was the one who reached out to Folsom for a game. Doherty has said this in video id have to find it but it’s out there. Folsom said yes of course. I don’t think they knew that LBP would be so mediocre, especially since they were the ones who reached out to Folsom. LBP clearly didn’t do their homework.
I can’t fault Folsom for scheduling Serra. Serra has been top dog in NorCal past few seasons and Folsom knew they could beat them this year and wanted revenge. They blew this game big time. Came out flat and were out coached. Folsom beats Serra 9 times out of 10, especially with their transfers playing.
Folsom got screwed when Davis joined the SFL. They lost a non league opponent game which limited their schedule. Next year they are getting that game back and it looks like C10 and Folsom are in serious talks.
Bottom line, Folsom has an open caliber team this season but they absolutely blew it with the loss to Serra.
Great run down.Excellent post as always!….
The addition of Jesuit and Davis to the SFL really hurt Folsom this year Scheduling wise, because it was the reason Folsom could not schedule DLS….
DLS and Folsom wanted to play this year, however DLS needed the game to be Week week 5 and Folsom needed the game to be week 1 or week 3….
DLS had already agreed to week 1 with Grant which had been in the works, and that game could not be moved, and Folsom had the opportunity to play LBP week 1 so that just left week 3….
DLS was stuck though with SF and since SF is in the WCAL they could only play week 3 so that game wasn’t going anywhere..,. Folsoms issue was that they now only had 3 non league openings, and they could not do week 5 because of the SFL schedule which was Davis….
So Folsom and DLS decided it wouldn’t work this year and DLS filled in Week 5 with El Cerrito….
The Shame of the whole thing is if Davis would have not been in the SFL for Football, DLS and Folsom would have played 9/27, Week 5, which was the week Davis Forfeited to Folsom….
Next year will be tough as well, but I know it’s a priority for the teams to play…. DLS will have more room next year but I know they are looking to play a National power in ESPN next year so that game will likely be week 1 so that would leave weeks 2,3 or 4 to play Folsom….
We will see what happens…. 🤣
Can’t let this year’s version of Serra control the line of scrimmage and run the ball down your throat at will in the 2nd half and claim to be the superior team. The superior team would never allow that. Being a little more talented doesn’t necessarily equate to being a better team. Folsom had more talent, sure, but it wasn’t an overwhelming talent advantage.Ryder Lyons was clearly the best athlete on the field, but controlling the LOS is basic football . Serra did that. That usually leads to winsFew things,
