Questions about new CIF post season format

So I'm trying to figure out the new playoff format. Upon reviewing the CIF website, there is apparently 51 section champion qualifiers statewide. Then when looking at the regional setup for playoffs, there's 2 teams picked outright to skip regionals and advance directly to State Open Division Championship Bowl Game. Then there's 12 more divisions for regional games (4 teams per division), equaling 48 teams. So how can there be 51 section champion qualifiers, and games for only 50 teams? Does this mean 1 section champion is being left out?

Also, can anyone tell me what playoff sections are assigned to what state regional sections?

Is this one of those situations where nobody knows what's going on yet? Seems like sections should have this figured out by this time in the season. CCS is funky, but one way or another they only get to send 5 teams.

The easy answer is every section winner moves on. There should have been more clarity on the CCS winners. Originally, it was just going to be three teams and I think that is the way it should be.

How the teams are slotted and for what state bowl division will be very interesting.

I found the rest of the info on cif site. So, more info will be released by cif regarding this, and it looks as though the committee will be doing the selections for each division, vs. assigning each section champion to a particular regional bowl section, in advance. Leaves a lot of leeway for game selection, which, as you stated, will be interesting.

What's the purpose of a small school open division?

Question? Moving on from league is the league champion required to play in the division of their league in postseason IE a Div 2 school plays D1 league and wins league they play D1 post season or by school enrollment as has been in the past?

Does it really matter? You are going to play Fort Bragg in a playoff game. Enough said.

Does it really matter? As long as final game is against MC, it's the same as being in D3! Now go back to your bed in Citrus heights and stop trolling on CN. You're starting to look like you have CN envy, cuz Folsom is just average this year.

Citrus Heights? LOL. I bet you are posting from Rohnert Park! LMAO!

Posting live from the City of Folsom baby!

Folsom is average? Not what the rankings say ;)

By the way- Folsom is nice. We ranked #1. Look where all of your cities ranked. This just came out ;)

FOLSOM WEATHER - 8/5/2015

Folsom has the worst air quality of any city in the Sacramento region per Sac Metro Air Quality Management. Do not move there if u have any respiratory issues, or u like to breath relatively clean air.

I wouldn't move to Santa Rosa. You ONLY ranked 117th out of ALL CITIES IN CA for families to live in ;) You are only behind beautiful metropolis's like Manteca and Turlock! LOL

#117 Santa Rosa, CA 53.64 78 97 163 115

Our air quality must be decent. I mean, we only rank NUMBER ONE for best places to live for families in CA! :):):):)

Cardinal Newman is located in Santa Rosa. Here are some "basic" crime stats for ya. Looks like you are more likely to get killed or raped there than die from bad air ;) Don't worry, your violent crime rate is ONLY DOUBLE ours. No bigs ;) I just hope you have good security to guard your 1980's yellow spotted grass field from vandalism and criminal activity!

Looks like no comparison to me ;););););););)

Hey, I didn't start it.

This dude decided to post something about (of all things) air quality! LMFAO! ;)

A rebuttal was needed.

You took the first shot, he responded. To get back to the post of you NOT starting it, is Fort Bragg really that much worse then Stagg was last year?

LOL you are kidding right!???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Fort Bragg- axp 400 Students
Stagg- axp 2,100 Students

Some people on here absolutely amaze me...

Stagg was 3-7 last year playing a bad schedule. The teams they beat had a combined 12-19 record. Sorry, not impressed.

Stagg would still beat Fort Bragg by 3 touchdowns.

Another bitter fan... ;)

Haha. Stagg lost to McClymonds this year. A school with 460 students.
Stagg was in D1. They were a mere "Maria Carillo" in our path ;)

We never dropped a division to chase a title :)

Go look at the rest of the teams we annihilated on the way to the State Title. 2nd in 4 years I may add ;)

Meanwhile....on the 1980's yellow spotted field :):)

So you do believe in the rankings. Good to know.
To an extent. We saw how accurate the #1 national ranking for DLS turned out against Trinity. ;)

But to say a top 10 ranked state team and highly ranked national team like Folsom is "average" is just plain stupid.

Agree completely. It is almost as bad as calling a top 5 Texas team mid-tier.

G61: I have always wondered how often your boss at Walmart let's you take a break from stacking shelves to go online to post on this website.

Only someone who actually shops at Walmart would use that as a reference. Lollll

Mtnjohn is DEF a Walmart shoppper;)

I guess on occasion I can go outside my gated community and slum at Walmarts. It would be great to try that in the Folsom area and run into G61 up on a ladder restocking.

Mtnjohn is probably a greeter at the Rohnert Park Walmart ;);)

Gated community? You must live in a bad area to need to gate ;)

Yeah, I just took a look at the document and its sorta vague. Like what is the difference between IA and 1AA or 1A and 2A? Is it enrollment or is it a ranking system?
