The Montgomery tournament starts on Thursday in Santa Rosa. Many of the games are being streamed on the Cube.

Teams in the event:

Montgomery
Campolindo
Marin Catholic
Monte Vista
McClymonds
Escondido
Redwood

I don't know who the eighth team is

Great tourney. I'm not sure if Marin Catholic is missing any kids from football but I kind of like them as the dark horse. Joe Calcattera is a stud and MC returns a # of players from last years NCS D4 champs.

Just watched the Campo v. Marin Catholic game on the Cube... Great show, with Campo coming from as far as 10 or so behind in the first half to come out on top 75-68 despite Calcaterra scoring 46. He actually had 38 at the half, but Campo used a box-and-one defense to bottle him up somewhat in the 2nd half.

Both teams were playing quite shorthanded due to kids still playing that other game where the ball doesn't bounce straight :)

Kiddman32- I hear a lot of things about kids and some are true and others are just hype. Do yourself a favor and watch Timmy Falls and Cacattera play this year. Both kids are so underrated it's not funny. Not sure if Calcaterra is 6"3 or taller yet but he has that sort of frame and will be a good player at a WCC type school by the time he's done. Scoring 46 against campo is amazing.

I agree... Calcaterra and Falls are terrific. I saw Calcaterra in that all-star game down at Las Positas in late August, and he handled himself well in a group full of D1 prospects.

Can't get up to Santa Rosa this weekend (90-minute drive and a ton of things on my sports plate to choose from, all closer), but the Freedom HS tournament on Dec. 18 and 19 looks good... as does the Bambauer torunament right after Chistmas, tho that competes directly with the Modesto Christian tournament.

My plan for next weekend, as I mentioned in another thread, is DLS on Thursday, Gridley on Friday and Jesuit of Sac on Saturday. Ah, December hoops... :)

Lets keep in touch. I'm definitely going to be at Jesuit and hope to make it over to DLS. Glad you feel the same way. Both those kids are just flat out gamers.

Larry Legend: What is exactly a WCC type school? The WCC to me is like the Pac 12. You have your Arizona's, UCLA's, Oregon's then you have Wash St, Oregon St; In the WCC you have Gonzaga, St Marys, BYU then you have Santa Clara, Pacific, San Diego.

True. Valid point. That league has gotten better and the Pac12 maybe watered down because more kids don't stay. They attract more elites. Most of the WCC teams are system kids with a few pro's. Zags, BYU, and St Mary's good example. Look at CAL. They will underachieve this year with a handful of pro's. Those kids will be gone next year.

But the lower WCC schools are really not much better than the best D2 programs in the nation. LMU, San Diego, USF, Santa Clara. Just awful. You don't have anybody in the Pac12 that bad.

Those tough kids from the streets of Moraga do it again, this time 48-35 over host Montgomery.

Looks like a tough test v. Monte Vista tomorrow in the finals. Never count these guys out, though...

Larry I am with you the falls kid is a flat out player. There are other guards who get alot of
hype and press that are no where near as good as falls.I enjoyed watching him at the tip
off classic he plays with good pace to his game and is a pure shooter.I will make it a point to go watch
the calcaterra kid heard alot of good things about his game

Bones, you got it. Cacaterra might even be better than Falls but I'm not going to compare the 2 at this point. Cacatterra is only a jr.
I'm tired of this board hyping guards who can dunk but have limited actual hoop skills.

Campo vs Monte Vista... wow.

Falls & Calcaterra are both 2017 kids. Not sure who is better, very similar games. Falls has more offers if that means anything

MV team was outstanding. It was a lopsided game pretty much with 2017 Fadal and 2016 Lashells leading the way.

Amazing what nick jones does year after year. Sounds like MV is back... again. Excellent program.

Nick Jones has built quite the program quickly at Monte Vista. He has shown he can coach top talent and also your good high school player. Not many people can do that.

Well said streak. A real student of the game. I see him scouting all the time and he's rarely not prepared. Its an outstanding program. From a basketball junkie I really enjoy watching them play.

He always has his teams ready to play would like to have seen campo have all there football guys
And clark healthy i think at full strength that game would have been much better.while everybody
Is handing dela the league title will u can be sure jones and his mustang's will be ready to battle

Having DV transfer Fadal eligible makes a big difference, but something tells me Jones would have had this team ready to battle even without him.
