Sacred Heart Cathedral at Archbishop Mitty at 730 pm

Mitty 15-7 after Q1. SHC have several turnovers while Mitty missing free throws.

Three straight turnovers on three straight possessions for SHC only causes them to be down 28-24 at half

Mitty with free throw shooting trouble. SHC 5 point run to start Q3 to lead 29-28 with 5:57

Alfred Hollins picks up fourth foul with three min left. Mitty leads 36-31 in Q3

Mitty leads 44-38 midway Q4. Foul trouble and free throw shooting in play now.

Pretty close than I expected. Either Kone had an off night or Coach Barbour implemented a plan to make anyone else beat them besides Kone.

Kone had about 12-14 pts. Jamar Williams-Sheppard did a good job making him work to get his. He has been a positive as he brings toughness, rebounding and defense in the front court. Makes you wonder why the 6'6 kid not named Hollins can't or just won't put in that effort? Mitty is a tough place for anyone to win at. I give the Irish credit for making it close and hopefully build on that effort.

The 6'^6 kid has been that height since freshman year. He was a project then; apparently still a project. Small hands and not willing or able to post up. Unfortunately still very soft.

I disagree with this assessment on Hollins. He in fact does everything for SH where nobody else does their job, particularly rebounding. He by far in his 2.25 years playing at SH, is the most efficient player and we are talking high school player numbers, not college or pros. His game is multifaceted now. To go along with his perimeter game, he can post and slash to the basket and he also gets offensive rebound put backs. No one else on the team does this.

Instead you have another guy on the team who is the same height that does not like the paint area, does not like rebounding, takes jump shots not within his range, and pretty much moves at 1/2 speed. You have a guard who is fantastic at dribbling but commits way too many turnovers and cannot hit a free-throw to save his life.

Having said that, SH is a better team this year than last, mostly because of the all-around skill that Hollins has. He's been their leader and the effort is there. He'll likely be 1st WCAL this year and make a run for the POY. Lets not mistake him for a senior last year who shot the ball like he was playing NBA Jams and was just atrocious on defense.

@iamgearyblvd So you must have read the post incorrectly. I said the 6' 6 kid not named Hollins. I don't even want to mention his name cus just like on the court he is not worth mentioning. Has to be one of the worst players at that size I have ever seen on both ends of the court. The IQ is non existent and he is lucky that he is somewhat needed because of his size out there. If you saw the Mitty game an adjustment was made by Kennedy to stop posting up Kone because Williams-Sheppard was doing a solid job defending him and they posted up the kid that was being guarded by the other 6'6 kid and the buckets started dropping. It's tough to play 4 on 5 on both sides. I've seen teams not even guard him because like someone said on a previous post he is allergic to the paint and shoots jumpers which after 8 feet you basically don't need to guard. Let's pray and hope a light comes on by his senior season and he becomes at least serviceable. 1 ok year out of 4 does not seem like too much to ask for but we will see.

Everyone needs to take a step back on this kid. This is HS! This young man may have been unfairly positioned / hyped to be a dominant big man through social media/posts just because he's 6-6! Very unfair. Perhaps this kid just wants to be a normal kid and was forced to play hoops because of his size? Not everyone is tabbed to go D1/Pros just because he is tall!
If the experts on this kid think my observation is untrue, then his lack of performance should judged by the coach. A good coach rewards performance from practice, games and off court activity.

Apologies, I misread. No youre right. Other teams shouldn't even guard him. Whatever shot he takes is low percentage. I dont know if you go back as far as the mid 90's but back then people laughed at our big, soft 6'6 lefty center. Teams would salivate to dunk on him. I think this kid by far is the MVP of the Charmin league.

Bells win 57-47. They're definitely not as good as their record indicates. Some good team play and size but average talent. Any very good team would have beaten them easily. Unfortunately, the Irish weren't that team.

I hate to agree with you guys about certain players, but you're right. That player who turns the ball over and can't make foul shots didn't play. Sheppard got the start. He played well. Team has no defense, no rebounding and no team plays. Half the time they turned into spectators on defense. Alfred Hollins is easily the best player on the team. Barbour won't be winning any Coach of The Year awards this season. And to 2shcp2, nobody wants to see players play well more than I do.

As for that lefty center from 1996, he was 6'8". He'd be second best on the current team. He had a good mid-range jumper but couldn't leap very well for a big player. At least his team won a WCAL title. I'm surprised he didn't play football too.

iamgearyblvd you know nothing about the game and good thing you have never played because nothing you say really matters. For you people who don't know, His name is Ramzi Carter Jr., and he can play. Go back and review the games, and please don't make comments about one kid to boost your pathetic self-worth, hopefully you're as critical of your own child if your sorry ass have any. And please when you find out he can play, don't swing form his nuts. He 's a kid, Stop trying to build your reading fan base by insulting a child. You guys are pitiful and probably have never play the game on any level, definitely not college. iamgearyblvd you should find a stool and flush youself like the piece of shit you are

Good to see you and J24 stand up for this kid. He's a kid. Maybe he just wants to have fun with his friends. Not everyone is an Aaron Gordon. Let the kid play.

I went to SH and I am a huge supporter of the school but I am also realistic. We will not win every year and this year we simply do not have the talent we once did. Other than St. Francis, you can say that about the whole league, which is why it appears to be very competitive this season.

Let's cheer our school and not denigrate or disparage any of the young men who are out there playing for the Irish.

SHC supporters eating their own, and they wonder why? This is too easy.

Hello Rabbit5, Happy New Year.

Speaking of support, I was at the game last week and I was pleased to see that after 3 years of fund raising all the wonderful alumni support finally yielded enough donations to paint the front of the school.

Hopefully the whole school can be painted by 2020!

All in jest my friend....all in jest!

Seriously. I'm from sac and I don't really know the Bay Area players/teams that well but to hear you punk ass grown ups talk about kids like this is bullshit. Be a man and find out who his parents are then go sit next to them during a game and say the things u say on here then you'll get some props. Otherwise stfu and offer some constructive things to say so maybe some one will read them and take them back to the kid so he can work on his game. I'm guessing the kid is taking your sons playing time cuz he is 6'6" and not as good as your son. We get it but do yourself a favor and keep that shit to your self or don't let anyone know who you are.

If his hands aren't small, then he has historically played like he has small hands. I can see that as a frosh and soph. Definitely been given the opportunities over past few years, but at critical juncture in games, always on the bench. That's not this board, its his coach. An observation; not criticism That is on coaching staff and kid to recognize and improve. Both need to own up to the potential of this young man. Hoping he and coaching staff gets it figured out. Now, for my personal observtion, this was a kid that was brought up too soon. Needed to find success on frosh team and move up from there. Expectation were thrown on this kid too soon. Were promises made? I dont know. That fact is you cant teach height and he still has time to blossom. He'll get a good opportunity this week with a tall/lanky Cat team.

Not a joke; just an objective observer.

It is on the coaching staff. They know what the problems are. This is a team with good players and one great player. I don't see any issue that can't be solved here.

The kid was brought up to soon because of his height. Is he training outside of practice? His play shows how much he works and it's starting to show. He is a kid let's not be to harsh because he tall. Let the coaches work with him. This team needs some offense plays and better decisions from coaching staff

@iamgearyblvd. Why do you care? No adult should attack a kid the way you did. You need to stick to constructive criticism - you went too far with the negative attack against the kid. Have some class.

Seriously, do you watch the games? Because those things that I observed (NOT ATTACKED) are all FACTS that happen in the games they have played. I wont question kids' overall effort. I'm sure its there. I've seen alot of Irish basketball through the years and I got excited of this duo coming in. Who didn't think this was the next Brown/Greene or Fox/Johns? Hollins has lived up to the public expectation. The other just maybe isn't that good. All I know is he has been given the opportunity to improve every year which is why he still plays but what he gives is really underwhelming.

Get off your coddling pedestal 2shcp2 and stop focusing on looking at negatives. Did you not see how I offered POSITIVE critique on Hollins?

He looked good tonight against the kitties.

I'm trying to. But then watch the opening tip. When the ball is at the peak, watch him. He's trying to swat the ball like a outside hitter in volleyball. I think he needs to go out for the Irish volleyball team. He would be an standing OH or MB.

Hollins isn't perfect...Please tell me another player better than him or with his game currently in San Francisco...He is going up against a guy much taller than him and he is trying to make contact with the ball. Tell me one coach who wouldn't want him as an addition on their team in the WCAL or even colleges with his skill set? Its almost like complaining about Thomas on the SHC girls team that she should be faster on the court running after the rebound. If we expect perfection from just one player then we wouldn't need the rest of the team...Another blogger said Mello is not attending SHC now, is that true? Can anyone elaborate? He was on the stands with a SHC jacket

If you're talking City players, Eddie Stansberry is playing very well this year. He really stood out in their win against MV during the Holidays and has shouldered much of the Crusader offense and D with the injuries they currently have, putting the Crusaders in a position to win almost every game. The Jr. Hollins is definitely a very good player and should have a monster senior season next year.

Just like Herman Pratt IV.
iamgearyblvd hatred toward this kid is so obvious, such a hypocrite. I still say you know NOTHING about this game, and want to speak as an authority and be respected. Hoping for validation, still throwing brutal insults at a child in a form that’s not for that purpose. You’re the bully that’s never done nothing and will never do nothing, you time is up!
