We won't see the end of this idiocy in our lifetimes. That's all there is to it.The original Minutemen had weapons. Not appropriate in wildly woke Bay Area. Cannot have even a hint of self-defense in those precious parts.

Would have to change all of their jerseys to Minutepersons. We won't see the end of this idiocy in our lifetimes. That's all there is to it.
Hey Crete, I went to SMB, I might know him or know of him. Small all boys achy back then....seriously tho....
concrete jr. had a grade schoolmate who went on to QB @ St Mary's, Berkeley & CCSF and ended up getting recruited by the A. P. Governors. Played 1 year, seriously injured his shoulder during a game and ended his football dreams, had a not so friendly parting.
Guess he left Peay'd off.
That's too bad. Nice patriotic nicknameSo I just read Concord High is changing their mascot from the Minutemen to the Crocodiles. I guess honoring this piece of American history is simply to much. The fact minutemen has “men” in it and carried a musket was enough to ruffle the nickers of the woke crowd. YV has also gone from the Warriors to the wolves. At least wolves were are back in Ca. where as the crocodile never was.
Here's and interesting sidelight. Back in the Fifties there were a group of people who were concerned about Nuclear attack. They did a survey to find the safest place in the country. It turned out to be Chico Calif. After settling down, they were famous for starting the Chico San company ( Famous for making Rice Cakes and Tamari sauce. A few years later Nuclear Cyclos and war heads were put in, just outside of Chico. They are still there today, but empty. One of there group even became Mayor of Chico.I'm no Jon Meacham, but I'm 99.8% sure Concord Naval Weapons Station had conventional ordinance stored in those bunkers. They are not missile silos. The Nike missile silos in the Berkeley Hills, Newark, San Leandro, etc. and Marin Headlands also were conventional warhead (Nike-Ajax) armed during the Cold War and 'Nam. There's no evidence the Nike-Zeus versions (thermonuclear) were ever staged in the numerous sites of the Nike SF region. And the ONLY nukes to ever make it anywhere near the Bay snuck in underwater to the Mare Island sub rework facility in Vallejo.
Banana Slugs still rue the day.
....better than aerial blue ice.....snowflakes. all yall.
.....he was @ SMB '06-'10 I believe (Crete 2.0 , same age, yrs attending DLS). Pretty sure St Mary's went coed in the mid 1990'sHey Crete, I went to SMB, I might know him or know of him. Small all boys achy back then
At least in the 80s - MinutemenI am fine either way on this one in particular, can understand both ways of thinking here.
btw, I wonder what CHS called their girls teams? Minutewomen? Minutegirls? Minutegals? Lady Minutemen? Just plain Minutemen despite the obvious fact they're female? None of those ever made any sort of sense, so there's that angle...

Who among us ever imagined that this site would become a font of national security information. Cover-Two disguised as quasi-man-to-man? No way. Let's hear it for stealth subs and ICBM launch capabilities. Dr. Strangelove, come on down. Just bring your shoulder pads and mouthpiece. "Believe it or not, military weapons are still being shipped through here, more than 50 million pounds of bullets, bombs and rockets last year alone. "It includes anything from grenades, any caliber of weapon, small missiles, incendiary devices," confirmed U.S. Army Commander Chris Hart.
He said there are no more nuclear weapons passing through the base, and what comes in and out of this facility doesn't stay long."
East Bay Remains Home To Military Outpost, Is It Safe?
The Bay Area is not widely known as a strategic military outpost. But perceptions can be deceiving, as CBS5 discovered.www.cbsnews.com
UPDATE: Evidently only few of the bunker silos can accommodate 25 ft tall missiles. Minutemen missiles are about 57 foot + translating to those bunkers couldn't be used for that type of missile. Evidently nuclear weapons may have passed through the base but not housed in the bunkers.
Just took my dad on the Nike Missle site SF-88 docent guided tour last year (highly recommended). They were armed with Ajax missles as well as Zues missles throughout the network in the Bay Area. This included the Berkeley hills. I stand corrected. SF88 did have Zeus nukes, albeit not quite the payload one would imagine in order to reduce the inevitable fallout along the coast.Just took my dad on the Nike Missle site SF-88 docent guided tour last year (highly recommended). But those subs at Mare Island? The real deal...
Nike Missile Site SF-88L, Mill Valley, California
The National Park Service conducts tours through this remarkably well-preserved and maintained Cold War facility, built to fire supersonic missiles at approaching Soviet bombers.www.roadsideamerica.com
Actually it was Nike Hercules outfitted with a nuclear payload. The range was shorter and the ceiling lower and is was anti-aircraft not ICB’s, which Zues was made for. Oh and to keep it football related and from getting zapped by @Streak One here’s the Potter Valley football schedule, i know there’s been a big demand for it here
You sly dog.......🫵🤠
Can't wait to see the mascot costumes of both schools!Raging Rhinos v. Fighting Zebras...
From this fan of odd mascot names... I give this ten million thumbs up!
Meanwhile, I looked further into the Concord High thing... Seems they wanted to go with the alliterative thing, nominating three "C" names to be voted on. Crocodiles beat out Coyotes and Cobras. If I'd had a vote, I would have gone with Cobras.

The Minutemen had guns. Yes, the Minutemen needed guns to fight the British Army, but guess what? There is no British Army in Concord. Or anywhere else in the US.The original Minutemen had weapons. Guns are not the problem. A open boarder with a influx of drugs is more of a threat than Guns. Teaching victim hood in our schools and creating division when there frankly is no need for it is a bigger problem than guns. Single parent homes and unengaged parents is a bigger problem than guns. Not enforcing laws that are the books is a bigger problem than guns. I could go on and on here. The hard cold truth however be thankful we are so armed because this government would absolutely walk all over us if we weren’t. The second Amendment wasn’t about the British or hunting, it’s about freedom don’t be so naive.T

We are the only modern developed state without meaningful gun control.
Guns are literally killing this country.
The vast majority of Americans want meaningful gun control, including mental health restrictions, background checks, no open-carry, family initiated red-flag laws, ban on high-capacity magazines, ban on assault weapons. But the 20-25% of the population who are insane went it comes to guns (including you, apparently), have been able to block true legislation through their lackey representatives. Maybe that will finally change in the next few years, before our schools and malls all get shot to pieces.Guns are not the problem. Left wing Woke or Right wing Whack. It's football season now. I agree with Rocknrolus.......Seriously, shoot this thread please. The woke movement sucks. We all agree. Let’s get back to football.
