You have to keep in mind if your are not moved up to the open division bracket you can only be moved up 2 divisions you can't jump from D4 or D5 to D1.

college park looked like a div 2 level team and cornerstone (stays healthy) looks to have won the div 4 north coast championship .

Adding Washington to the div 2 NCS group. Tonight is a matchup of the unbeatens wash vs Livermore. Will find out more soon

Newman and St Mary's of Berkely look like they could be a on a collision course. Both are very good.

Larry are you the north bay guru ? Who are some of the teams to be on the lookout for ? Other than Newman and Redwood. On any level !

Hahah.. I don't know about that. There is only one @northbaybbguru
I would say right now Newman is the best team north of the bridge. When Redwoods transfers become eligible that of course will change. I think Newman is better than Branson this year. Montgomery is in the mix but had a big fall off with Devries and Wright graduating last year.

Does anyone know what base division st Joseph is in ? Couple nice wins this weekend
They are D5, but both Sac High & MC are having down years (both 2-4) compared to prior years. St. Joe’s lost by 44 to DLS & lost by 34 to BOD this season. They should be competitive in D5 though.

it may be surprising under the new format. If your beating sac even in a down year. Your probably not going to be playing D5. You might even find yourself in D3. Are they taking 16 teams per division (outside of open) ? If so, this is the current case.

I know Granada has had a rough start. Not sure if they have any transfers that will become eligible? They’ve been a high level team the past few seasons. You have them not making the playoffs?

It is an evolving list . They were most certainly looked at today. Slight concern about not meeting one of the three criteria to qualify. Limited time to research considering how many teams there are and what point we are at in the season. It was best to leave them off the list and see if they can strike up a couple of more wins. Before any further time is invested into them.

Have not heard anything about players sitting on the bench. Their jv and freshmen last year were average.

As far as Clayton Valley goes... They lost Elijah Perryman to injury while at Gridley, and I have been told he's almost certainly out for the season.

They had already lost a top player during the summer to injury, so they are going to have to find some offense somewhere...

Can't see them not making it even if they were to drop down to Div 2!!
So you guys inspired me to take a further look at Granadas schedule. it does appear on the surface. They are very close to not qualifying. We will keep them off the list for now. we hope they are able to pull off a couple of upsets.

This is really sad news. Did not know this. Had heard he did not return to the game. That was it. I am sending him healing powers and strength. We all want to see these boys have the opportunity to see what their season becomes. To stay healthy ! We know how much is invested by and into these players. Stay strong Perryman fam

I do believe this will drop them into div 1

Leading to Dublin entering the open !?!?

Or ygnacio valley if they beat out clayton
Valley and a very underestimated campolindo team to win that league.

Terra Linda ranked in California top 25!

Bella we did take your info and act on it . By bumping up Terra Linda to the #3 spot in div 2. Up and over urban with their victory recently . They have another quality win vs cornerstone. Cornerstone is not good enough for open thus they are maxed out into div 4. Make no mistake about it Cornerstone is a high level div 2 team. With the two aforementioned wins vs high level 2 teams. This is what can justify for the moment. TL is the new 3 seed in div 2 . Let’s see some continued consistency and hopefully another quality victory. Go Terra Linda !

Will be interesting to track as the season goes along. Early versions of the maxpreps rankings are out and are sure to change a lot over the next couple of weeks. The initial rankings always have some pretty wild miscalculations

Yeah... the MaxPreps rankings start to make some sense after the post-holiday tournaments. By then, most have played roughly ten games, and there have will have even been repeat meetings in a few cases.

-If O'Dowd wins their league they have an argument to be in the Open regradless of their record. They play a usually tough schedule.
-Clayton Valley without Perryman means they are probably out of the discussion.
-How in the world do you have Moreau Catholic in the open? They have had better teams not make the open.
-Redwood will have shot also to get in, they were ranked high last year and return almost everyone and added TT
-Ygancio Valley and St. Mary's Berkeley also have shot to get in the open.

The rest of the list and divisions will depend on what the NCS does with the Open

No debate about B Odowd - let’s see if that happens

Agree about Clayton

Moreau has couple bad showings vs DV and O Tech. Sandwiched in between those games is a victory over Modesto. Moreau has a high ceiling with the players on their roster, that are actually playing (not hypothetically) . Seasoned coach! Currently who belongs in the open over Moreau ? Let’s see another team step up and will replace em.

Redwood will be in the open with Carr. Right now he is not on the floor and we expect better from the rest of the unit.

Yv stays healthy they do have a shot to get in. St Mary’s beat yv seems practical for them to have a shot at the open

I don't see how moreau could get there in the rankings. They play in a weak league and chose to use 4 non league games in hawaii against seemingly weak competition there too. They do have 5 non-league games left so if they roll the table on that and those teams all turn out to be pretty good then maybe but I don't see it happening. More likely to be a top seed in D2

12/21 Cardinal Newman loses to Clayton double digits, Clayton wins without star player, Albany improves 3 spots, Las Lomas enters the list win over College Park, college park moves back to div 3 (3 out of 4 losses), rancho cotate improves to div 2

Just curious why Moreau is ahead of 11-0 Dublin? Moreau is a good team, but lost by 21 to Dougherty, who you’ve got down in D1. I’m not saying Moreau couldn’t beat Dublin if they played, but on paper maybe Dublin should be higher? Are there players that were missing?

We did a review of both teams

After the review , we do feel Dublin has a slight stronger body of work. The Smash of Whitney, victory over Destiny, double digit win over Cal high , meanwhile finding a way to stay undefeated and doing it convincingly.

The ego has been checked at the door and we have made a move with the rankings. We appreciate your question.
It most certainly had merit. Possibly that’s one of the things that makes this list so great. Merry Christmas

Observer,

I said the same thing on this thread on Dec 17th. Ive seen most of the top teams play in the NCS and there is no way Moreau should be in the Open. This is leading me to believe that the creators of the list are family/friends/fans of the program.

In my opinion are the 10 in NCS right now. Of course this will change as you get past holiday tourneys and move towards league.

MC actually has a chance in D2 or D3 to represent the north, they have no chance in open or D1.
