Week 3 Scoreboard

End of the Third quarter: Central 39 Turlock 28. Turlock keeps doing short/onside kicks after getting burned on a return TD, but have only recovered one, giving Central a short field. I don't understand the reasoning.

The NorCal royal rumble doesn’t end with this week.
Nor should it. The top three or four programs per division in the SJS, NCS, CCS, and even the Northern Section should regularly schedule pre-league games against each other. Intersectional games are very valuable in ratings, rankings, and just for the sheer fun of discussion.

I guess my prayers worked! Looks like the hard hitting on D vs West carried over into this game via Central Catholic, afterall, and speed conquered size, and the underdog shocks the world just as David defeated Goliath. SM QB Samson Hunkin redeems himself (remember he was just a sophomore last year).

The Rams are going to be on lots of folks radar now after this beatdown. Don’t make mistakes like Serra did tonight vs DLS and Friday, 10/7, in Stockton could be another underdog opportunity for the St. Mary’s Rams. GO RAMS!!!
I find the David v Goliath hilarious! I watch CC every year. I already posted in MY OPINION CC is

The David v Goliath is hilarious! I posted before I watch CC every year. I am not trying to talk down kids. But the teams with the Rice kids in MY OPINION were just a little better. I just think CC was pushed up to D1 prematurely. And I already put out my bold prediction of the year. I think this is the year Manteca finally gets one over CC!

Final Central 54 Turlock 41. Turlock came back in a big way after the debacle vs. Clovis West but Central was too much. The gauntlet continues for Turlock next week as they head to Manteca. I'm not sure if I totally agree with the Turlock coach philosophy of scheduling tough out of conference games to prepare the team for playoffs. I can see maybe three tough teams with two other decent but winnable games. Central Catholic and Turlock have the two toughest OOC schedules in the southern part of the section and both could easily end up 1 - 4

The Granada hype did not last long. They lost 31-10 to Riordan last week, and were plowed 54-14 by Heritage tonight.

Monte Vista got back in the W column after getting blown out by Antioch last week with a 47-14 victory over Hayward.

Also:
Cal spanked Milpitas 35-6
Dougherty Valley beat Newark 41-16
College Park shocked Foothill 28-12
Dublin blanked Castro Valley 20-0
Amador Valley topped Bear Creek 28-6
Livermore trounced Alhambra 51-7

Three losses to NorCal schools the past two seasons including two at home.

Other side, what a start to the year for Serra! Might end up being the best two wins of the season.

Many predicted an eventual slide once Coach Lad stepped down and Alumbaugh took over. It just took a decade for it to finally start….

Maybe more so the retirement of their defensive coordinator, Terry Eidson, only a couple of years ago. DLS defense not quite the same since he has stepped down.

DLS also has a tendency to start the season not at their best. But, that premise didn’t quite apply last year when DLS lost the rematch vs Folsom.

Newman has major issues at the QB position. Can’t get anything going in the air. Acevedo was hurt this game and only played in 1st but give credit to Vacaville after getting hammered by OR. Rancho would smash newman if they played today.

i saw a few passes by the Newman QB and yeah that’s not going to get it done at all

Oakdale has CCS team a NCS, San Francisco and a couple of SJS teams in pre-league?

Nope. He’s a lineman. Cronin was blessed with a college QB year in and out. He developed them wonderfully as well. That “well” has gone dry. Rancho looks dynamic to me. There QB Liam Keaney should be on somebody’s radar. Kid is really solid. I could see them making a deep run. Could be a long year for my cardinals.

That’s a great idea! Teams should make an effort to schedule intra section teams - CCS, NCS, SJS. Add Mack to the mix also. Those road trips are great for team bonding.

I was thinking more of a round-robin or mini-tournament. Create common opponents across a few sections. Folsom, De La Salle, and Serra are basically doing it this season. The same should be done all the way down the divisions. Three or four teams from three or four sections who all play each other. It already kind of happens, but it would be nice if it were more consistently applied.

speed kils and they know they dont have it

Folsom loss to Serra and DO close game with CVC. CVC also missing D1 WR that is sitting...
Folsom loses a VERY close game (fumbled tying TD at the goal line) to a very good Serra team, and DO “barely” beating CVC is your reasoning to suggest the SJS may be ‘down’? SM looked pretty impressive tonite, as did OR last week. MT thumped SF. Jesuit seems to be on the rise…me thinks the SJS will be fine this season

Whoa. The SFL is so strong this year. Folsom, oak ridge , granite bay , and DO are loaded! Look at Monterey Trail too. The SJS is Not down.

I agree. I mentioned this exactly on another thread on another site.

The biggest difference I’m noticing the past couple seasons is vulnerability on defense.

Oakdale throws in some interstate games some years. 2 Nevada and 1 each from Colorado and Oregon.

Reno leads Grant Union 18-7 with 6:31 remaining in Q2.
I wasn't able to follow them last night. Curious, any thoughts on how they looked overall in the lose? Penalties, coaching,,, based on the score it seemed like a good game.

Mitty seniors are pretty good. They may surprise. Looks like Serra is top and the rest may battle except VC seems down
VC is way down. Machado claims it is due to a young team. It seems to be true but more importantly Scharrenberg is no longer the DC. He fired up the whole team and created a steward defense legendary in the WCAL. The current DC and line coach are struggling to get anything similar to VC's past strength. And Machado is slightly out of his element needing to coach at a higher level since he is also VC's OC.

Yes - to some degree, but it is the DLS' DC, Terry Eidson's, departure that signaled the demise of DLS being the NorCal King.

In 2004 DLS lost 3 and Tied 2…. In 2005 DLS lost 2 Games…. So that is 5 losses and 2 ties, Were Lad and TE bad Coaches or was their a “Dip” in them getting players?…..

DLS has lost 3 games by a total of 7 points in the last 2 years…. There is no “Demise” it’s just a cycle…. DLS will be fine….
