My opinion:

Liberty still too high. Menlo-Atherton and St. Francis too high. Los Gatos low (Wildcats vs Wilcox going to be a hell of a game). McClymonds too low. Pittsburg too high. Inderkum may be too low. Marin Catholic may be too low.

I made a beef about how Liberty squeeked by Oakdale and many made excuses about the location of the game. Fine, but then Palma goes to the same location and wins by two scores. Same Palma that lost to Mitty and now Salinas. Looking at all related results, still think that the Lions could conceivably be not as good as McClymonds or Marin Catholic.

I'm really only familiar with some of the SJS teams, so I can't make too many observations about the overall list. However, I am a bit stunned that Turlock is still on here. They struggled to beat Sheldon 14-6, who in turn has been blasted by three different teams from just the city of Elk Grove (MT 42-14, CO 53-14, EG 55-0). I saw the Sheldon-MT game live and I have seen CO play. The speed difference between those two teams and Sheldon is night and day. If Turlock couldn't run away from Sheldon, then Turlock is going to struggle mightily head to head with the speed teams in the SJS D1 playoffs.

Teams with speed like Folsom, Inderkum, Monterey Trail, Cosumnes Oaks, Elk Grove, Lincoln of Stockton, and possibly even Edison are going to give Turlock fits. With quality teams like Davis, Del Oro, and Oak Ridge left to fill out most of the rest of the D1 bracket, Turlock will not be likely to see a "gimme" win even in the first round. Turlock is going to have to win the rest of their games by solid margins just to get a home playoff game. They are looking at being ranked in the 7-10 spots just in D1 of the SJS.

Mack is absurdly ranked way too low they’re a top 10 team and I think they actually should be higher then Newman and Liberty isn’t top 5

FootballJunkie answered the question I was planning on asking:

If we assume that DLS, Folsom, Serra and VC are in the top four in some order, how do you rank 5-10?

As these discussions have gone on, it seems that there isn't much mention of teams that belong in the 5-10 range, but you have to fill the spots.

For me, the Capital/CO/MT group seems high. I can see the argument for much of the rest of the Top 20 though it is hard to drop M-A completely out IMO. They have a similar resume to St. Francis.

who has Los Gatos beat this year ?

* Mack too low -
* Wilcox too low - how can they possibly be ranked below M-A whose only win against weak Bells team.
* Think I’d give Valley Christian edge over Liberty.
* St. Francis has had one of the toughest schedules of any of the top 20 teams & they’re ranked too high? Somebody isn’t looking at opponents vs records.
* Los Gatos too low? Its cuz they haven’t played anyone not resembling a JV team (sorry - couldn’t resist & just kidding - kinda ;)

I find it hilarious that individual 4 star players who's STATS have plummeted still stay at 4 star. The optics of those stats means when adversity shows up that person gives up!! But when the team is undefeated when then Good Lord isn't that 4 star the greatest thing since slice bread. For example, when Serra held Troy Franklin to 59 yards at Levi's stadium. I had 3 people tell me I can't believe he's a 4 star/5 star or whatever the F*$# he is.....!!! BTW - same result at Folsom!!

I’ll have a comment on Los Gatos shortly, but I find your takes on Menlo-Atherton and St. Francis extremely curious. These two teams effectively have the identical resume.

I base my comments on the Lancers on the fact i saw them play. They’re really not that good. One may point out how they held VC for a while, but ya know what? So did Clovis West, who barely beat Central Catholic. Besides, SF is built to slow down teams like the Warriors, but they’re going to struggle against good teams with balanced offenses... or even just good passing teams.

My 1-4 are the "what have you done for me lately" teams. In my opinion, these are the teams that have shown the most consistency on both sides of the ball in the first 6 weeks of play. These teams are utilizing the 3-elements of coaching, talent and administration support at a higher level than the rest of the field. My 5-10 teams are teams that are one element away from being in the top 4. My 11-20 teams are teams that are one element away from being in the top 10. That element could be one of the three elements mentioned above or an element not mentioned. The Junkie

Very True "Cal 14"....MA & Saint Francis lost their CORE players to graduation and now they are like new teams. A little similar to Serra with one exception we had a 6'3/200lbs QB waiting his turn to shine and he's taken advantage of his opportunity.
