Absolutely not. The CIF had already stated they wouldn't consider CCS consolation bracket winners, the games were 100% meaningless. Some people say they were a money grab but I believe it was more the CCS trying to get the CIF to change their bylaws regarding letting non-section champions qualify. The CCS approved the consolation bracket hoping to showcase the CIF this great idea of theirs, to hopefully allow the 'consolation bracket champion" be considered in future years. The idea backfired big time and the consolation bracket turned out to be a complete farce - they were nothing more than JV scrimmages that in the end impacted a lot of non-football people (especially at Milpitas), and punished one of the strongest programs in the section (not to mention all of the sophomore and junior football players that really had nothing to do with it).Originally posted by CityVibesII:
The great irony is the playoff system was set up for a school like Serra who is good enough to compete, but still be considered for coveted state playoffs even they lose in early round.
