Week 8 Scores

What happened to del Oro?

They used to be on Folsom bumper a few years ago the games with those 2 were close at times

58-0?

Same with oak ridge they both 250 ranked teams in California

When usually they both top 30
Honestly, this was sort of in the cards.
OR had one of the best lines in Norcal last year. Everyone of those kids is playing college football at some level right now.
You don't replace that and OR is having to deal with that this year. They also have a very good Frosh/Soph/JR class. Expect OR to be very good next year. In fact I would say top 5 in Norcal good.

DO lost the best player in Norcal last year in Caden Pinnick. There wasn't a more dynamic playmaker than him.

Overall, SFL is weak this year. One of the worse years I can recall.

Last game of year between Rocklin and OR should be good. Otherwise, expect Folsom to continue to hang 50+ on everybody and DO, Whitney, and Davis battle for who is the worse. Actually that is Davis. Never mind.

Week 8 Scores

Miss counted 6 TD rushing. 1 kick off return 90 yards. 374 yards rushing Covered onside kick. And played safety on defense. I go on about Burford. But he isn't my favorite player is #50 Moses offensive line. About 5'5" 150 pounds energizer bunny never stops.
381 yards rushing. 7 yards receiving and 2 point conversion. 90 yard KO TD. And no one is looking at this kid.

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

Here's my (revised) WCAL rankings after week 3:

1. St. Ignatius
2. St. Francis
3. Serra
4. Valley Christian
5. Riordan
6. Sacred Heart Cathedral
7. Mitty
8. Bellarmine

This upcoming game between St. Francis @ SI will be another battle in the trenches between SF's Oline and SI's Dline which have been both teams strength this year.

Should be another WCAL doozy!

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

Great wins by St. Francis over Serra and Valley Christian over Riordan tonight.

Riordan couldn't seem to get anything going and am wondering if they were still reeling from that SI loss the week prior.

Im any case, the WCAL is still formidable with 3 undefeated teams still in league play.

Talk about a storyline no one expected at the start of football season.
Cannot agree more.

Bellarmine in dire straits

The Jesuit nightmare in San Jose persists. Bellarmine football is in freefall. The winless (0-6) Bells, once a premier NorCal program dating back to the Great Depression, have been outscored in their three WCAL games, 115-7. They are on track to finish the 2024 season 1-9 or 0-10. Either record would mark the most losses in the school's long history. They were 2-8 last year. The eight defeats are a current record. The one chance for a win they would seem to have this season would be versus Sacred Heart Cathedral. That game is set for the final weekend of the regular season.

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

We have one more game to play in this third week of WCAL action. If Sacred Heart Cathedral beats Archbishop Mitty (which might happen in this crazy week), I will come back to adjust this round of my rankings.

St. Francis beat Junipero Serra by TD tonight. There were a few that believed this would happen but I still thought JS would win out. The other surprising, really far more surprising game outcome, was Valley Christian dominating Archbishop Riordan. One or two posters called this game a tossup. But I thought AR would throttle VC via their passing game. Something has fundamentally changed for both teams.

Here's my rankings.
1. SI - No challenge from BCP and still holding the top spot. Next week, SI meets SF which should be a good game and very likely the last big test for the Wildcats.
2. SF - Tonight, the Lancers shut up critics by controlling the outcome of their win over JS. Next week, they meet SI and proponents of SF will get a chance to be vindicated.
3. JS - Serra started out the season ranked #1 but most people, including me, thought they could easily fall as low as #3. Then JS edged Folsom and it seemed the Padres were on their way to another stellar year. Two WCAL losses later, here they are #3. They play AM next week.
4. VC - The Warriors unexpectedly (at least by me) dominated AR to pull themselves back into the upper half of WCAL. At the beginning of the season, I put VC at either #4 or #5 but I thought it would be a position battle with SI, not AR. Something has fundamentally changed for the Warriors. I have my theory but still need to verify it against their roster. VC has the WCAL top three still ahead on their schedule, starting with SI next week.
5. AR - The Crusaders have hit some kind of crisis in their season this year. Many thought they would be contending for the top 3 of WCAL this year and a few thought they would contend for the top levels of NorCal. But that hope has not materialized.
6. AM - The Monarchs' game with SHC happens Saturday. AM is expected to win but expectations seem to be challenged this weekend.
7. SHC - The Irish will have a chance to improve their ranking tomorrow. If they are successful, I will come back to adjust this 3rd week of WCAL rankings.
8. BCP - Enough said.
@FBAddict Can’t argue with your assessment - especially of the Crusaders. I would even put them below Mitty at the moment. This team is struggling right now.

Week 8 Scores

Boy my CN would roll Windsor prediction didnt pan out but at least CN still won! Lol

A mixed extra pt by Windsor in OT was the difference.

CN 24
Windsor 23
OT- Final

Windsor coach DJ came with a good game plan. Shortened the game and the Windsor special teams played well (up to the mixed extra point) had CN backed up deep in their own territory most of the blame.

I thought there was some suspect play calling in the 2nd half by CN...they abandoned the run game almost completely which led to too many 3 and outs and their defense playing way too much...which led to the CN defense being gased at the end.

CN escapes with the win at Windsor. 1st win over Windsor in the Sanchez era.

Next week at home for CN vs another tough league opponent Rancho Cotate.

2 key things I took away.
1. Windsor had a great game plan like you said. Shortening the game, run the clock, dominate time of possession. It worked greatly.
2. Newman's offense is just not very in synch and put way to much emphasis on passing game which like you said led to some long 3rd downs. You got one of the best RB in the section (gentry) so why not utilize him? The lack of offensive schemes by Newman nearly cost them this game.

The better team won but Windsor's game plan was so much better they almost pulled it out. Recall last year Windsor had so much speed they did the opposite and spread out Newman.

Lots of Football left to play and I think 1 and 2 in league this year will be Newman and Windsor with MC knocking on the door.
