NCS Open..

Is there section more messed up than NCS? SJS has its areas of desire, for certain, and CCS, arguably, is too math based...but NCS having losers advance is a joke. If anyone ever questioned whether or not the playoff format(s) in CIF are arranged for some deadbeat to make over six figures sitting on their keister all day, look no further than the NCS football playoffs.

SFL Update

Rocklin is a tough, hard-nosed, and well coached program. But every time I watch Folsom play and they pull out the game its on the back of Ryder Lyons and his ability to make plays with his feet. Kid is really a cheat code at the HS level. I think Rocklin will be in the game and I believe its there best shot because the transfers have at a least a couple more games to sit if I'm not mistaken.

Couldn't agree more with you about Jesuit. I was at that game when Walker Lyons made that great catch from Folsom to squeak out a 22-21 victory of Jesuit in playoffs. They have a lot of resources and momentum right now. I look for the program to take a big step forward. Time will tell but it was a good move to get into the SFL.
i hope i don't get banned for pointing this out but - where was this "cheat code" in folsom's last game? cause i watched and they got absolutely bagged for 48 minutes.

anybody in nor cal can be beat on any given friday (as long as they are playing another nor cal team). folsom may beat rocklin on most fridays, but there's no guarantee the day they play will be one of them. rocklin always hangs, and once every few years they win the regular season matchup. they deserve there respect and you shouldn't be so dismissive of them. they are a class program run by class people and play the game the right way.

NCS Open..

That's funny top 4 team in NCS, maybe they should focus on being top 4 in their league first! 🤔 Haven't beaten Windsor or Marin Catholic in a few years that should probably be there first priority.
Thats just a homer comment by somebody not well informed. Newman hasn't finished lower than 2nd place in league in probably 25 years and won't even being in the tougher newly formed league. Windsor, SM , and MC both lost tons of players and are still good but in rebuilding mode. Marin Catholic will likely be 0-3 after the manteca game. Tough year to schedule up but props to them.
Newman plays a much improved ODOWD team in a few weeks. That is my 1st worry.

SFL Update

As for this season, I can see Jesuit being among the top 3-4 teams. Who knows. I haven't been able to review any of their games yet, and it's difficult to gauge anything by the opponents they've beaten so far (Bellarmine isn't Bellarmine of old), but they are historically a competitive program that has even given Folsom 3-4 close games over the past 10-11 years. They nearly took them out of the 2021 postseason.

While it's too early to say right how this current season might unfold for them, I do see potential for the not-so-distant future due to all the recent events discussed earlier. One factor that they'll be able to compete with Folsom right away is open enrollment, which none of the other SFL programs (other than Folsom) have.

As I said earlier, it all depends upon the focus of their AD and alumni. If they really want to build a dominant program, they have the means to get it done. Even more so now that one of their biggest roadblocks was removed.

Of course they have a chance. They've demonstrated that the past 4 years with one win and 3 other highly competitive games.

When you've got a QB as good as Reeve Slone, along with the offensive talent surrounding him -- you've always got a chance. The question is, how good is the defense compared to the past few seasons?

I don't have an answer to that yet. My initial feeling is that they aren't as good on that side of the ball as they have been. They aren't as big and physical as they've been. And most importantly, I'm not sure they have the talent and speed needed to contain Ryder Lyons when he starts doing his thing. Ryder really hurt them last season with his ability to extend plays and still make down field throws -- just like he does to pretty much everyone else.

Yes, the Thunder have an extra week to prepare, but Folsom's HC was spotted at Rocklin's game last week against Lincoln-Stockton rather than down in Turlock so the Bulldogs will be highly prepared too -- as always.

I see Jesuit as top 4 in league. They are well coached and will do just fine against Whitney, DO, Davis, and OR. The move to the SFL will make their program better.

Does Rocklin have a chance? Folsom seems to be better at every position. It’s going to take an epic performance by the Rocklin defense and QB slone will have to do some magical things to pull it off. Got to think Folsom is 3 score favorites over Rocklin. Who knows maybe the extra week of prep during the bye will help Rocklin keep it close. In the coach adams era they have played Folsom tough even when outmatched physically. We will see next week! Winner will be SFL champ.

SFL Update

the next decent team jesuit beats will be the first. this program is not what people are hyping it up to be. if they were they wouldnt have stayed in leagues where they could beat up on small public schools. imagine de la salle lobbying to stay in the diablo league.........

Your response completely deviated from the points I made. Straw man fallacy.

the literal first thing i said is that the sfl is way down so i'm not sure why your attempting to call me out. you are arguing in bad faith. i literally explained that the sfl is way down this year but at the same time it is much higher competition then anything jesuit has ever played. they are not used to this level of football and it will show this year while they hope to build up.

After going completely rogue above, you then admonish @larry legend33 for not addressing your post in a way you agreed with and went as far as to accuse him of arguing in bad faith. SMH.

As far as I can tell, you need to get your own reading and comprehension house in order before you start admonishing others. Pot meet kettle.

Also, I gotta be honest, your week-old account and sophomoric handle isn't inspiring much confidence that you're anything more than a burner account at this point. Step up your game or prepare to be ignored en mass.

Nor Cal Bigs

His transfer from Sheldon to sac hi wasn’t being approved so had to bail to some 3rd rate prep school. Good of had a great senior year playing with his friends at Sheldon. Lunacy.
This is part of the prep issue... Some kids get cornered into going prep by CIF rules... Not blaming the CIF or the sections completely, in some instances people behind the kid cause the problem... Not blaming them completely, either.

NCP Football Top 20: Four New Teams Enter the Rankings

1. De La Salle (2-0)

Derrick Blanche was the leading rusher this week with 182 yards and De La Salle ran for more than 300 yards as a team in a 39-10 win over Serra. The game turned from a close low scoring affair to a convincing Spartans win on a touchdown pass from Toa Faavae to Jayden Nichols late in the first half to give De La Salle a 14-3 lead. The Spartans host St Francis this week in their third Top 10 matchup in as many weeks.

2. Serra (1-1)

Iziah Singleton scored Serra’s lone touchdown in a 39-10 loss to De La Salle to snap its 29 game NorCal winning streak. The Padres are averaging 16 points per game this season against Folsom and De La Salle. Serra will host St. John Bosco on Saturday afternoon heading into its bye week prior to the WCAL schedule.

3. Folsom (1-1)

Folsom was off this past week after losing at home to Serra (22-21). The Bulldogs will complete their non-league this Friday against Turlock and will start SFL play on September 20 against Rocklin. It is part of five straight games at home to start the season.

4. Pittsburg (2-0)

The Pirates amassed more than 600 total yards in a 41-14 win over Bishop Manogue after leading 34-7 at the half. Marley Alcantara threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns going to RJ Mosley, Makari Benion and Truly Bell. Jamar Searcy ran for 175 yards and two scores. On defense, Etene Pritchard Jr. registered 10 tackles and a sack. The schedule doesn’t let up with Riordan on Friday, a trip to St. John Bosco on September 20 and Los Gatos on October 4.

5. Rocklin (3-0)

The Thunder got four rushing touchdowns from Rafi Merino and Reeve Slone threw touchdown passes to Mavrik Collins and Mikey Cunningham in a 43-3 win over Lincoln-Stockton. Derek Keeley and Alex Dunham each had 10 tackles for the Thunder, which were held scoreless in the first quarter before scoring 43 points over the second and third quarters. Rocklin is off this week ahead of its September 20 matchup against Folsom.

6. St. Francis-Mountain View (2-0)

Senior Kingston Keanaaina produced one of the early statement performances of the season with 336 yards and three touchdowns in a 34-14 win over McClymonds a week after McClymonds lost to fellow WCAL school Riordan 35-34. Aaron Knapp threw two touchdowns for the Lancers, which travels to No. 1 De La Salle on Friday.

7. San Ramon Valley (2-0)

Rhett Thompson found Marco Jones for a seven yard touchdown with less than a minute left to help San Ramon Valley beat Soquel 14-7 for its second win over a CCS opponent. Jones added 11 tackles and a sack on defense. Matthew Garibaldi rushed for more than 100 yards and a score. The Wolves will host Clayton Valley Charter on Friday.

8. Grant (2-1)

The Pacers got a good bounce back performance in a 35-21 win over Inderkum that featured two of the best teams in the Sacramento area. Luke Alexander threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns with two of those scores coming to emerging sophomore Zo Edwards. Brandon Lambert rushed for more than 200 yards. Jeremiah Tuiileila had a team high 11 tackles. This week, the Pacers travel to Clovis East, which is 3-0 and have scored at least 50 points in two straight games.

Diego Hernandez had 12 tackles and the Rams finished with 6.5 sacks and three interceptions. The Rams are off this week before taking on De La Salle on September 20.

11. Riordan (1-1)

For the second straight year, Riordan fell to St. Bonaventure to halt some of the preseason momentum. This time, it was down in Southern California in losing 42-34 after trailing 21-7 after the first quarter and 35-13 after three quarters. The Crusaders’ defense gave up 235 rushing yards on 29 carries in the loss. It doesn’t let up this week with a trip to Pittsburg on Friday.

12. McClymonds (0-2)

Berell Staples threw a touchdown to Rahsjon Duncan and Sharkey Tamale had a second half touchdown run in a 34-14 loss to St. Francis. The Warriors travel to Bishop O’Dowd on Friday after the Dragons knocked Monte Vista out of the rankings. They also play San Ramon Valley on September 20.

13. Inderkum (2-1)

Ricky Cole connected with Zayden Maxwell for two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as Inderkum fell to Grant 35-21 for its first loss of the season. Lono Chouteau got his third interception of the season and returned it for a score against the Pacers. Inderkum finishes up the non-league against Cosumnes Oaks on Friday.

14. Soquel (0-2)

Soquel is winless in two games but has matching 14-7 losses to Top 10 teams in San Ramon Valley and Los Gatos. In this past week against the Wolves, Soquel was tied with less than a minute left and held San Ramon Valley to less than 300 total yards. The Knights will host Valley Christian on Friday as it looks to challenge Salinas in the Gabilan Division.

15. Liberty (1-1)

The Lions had to turn to the air after falling behind Los Gatos 17-0 en route to a 38-21 loss. Sage Robertson threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns with Chris Joe accounting for 117 yards and two touchdowns. Jaxon Bell, who was held in check on the ground, had nine catches for 98 yards. Liberty will host Tracy on Friday.

16. St. Ignatius (1-1)

Jarious Hogan had 13 carries for 156 yards and two touchdowns in St. Ignatius’ 35-6 win over Tamalpais. Happy Rosenberg had 1.5 sacks in leading the defense. This Friday, the Wildcats will travel to undefeated Cathedral Catholic. They start WCAL play on September 27 with home games against Serra and Riordan.

17. Cardinal Newman (2-0)

18. El Cerrito (2-0)

El Cerrito trailed Monterey Trail 7-0 at the half, but gained control with a 21 point third quarter en route to a 28-19 win over the Mustangs. The Gauchos’ defense held Monterey Trail to four yards per carry and have now held both opponents to less than 20 points. Next up for El Cerrito is Oakland Tech.

19. Granite Bay (3-0)

The Grizzlies got out early and didn’t look back in a 65-6 win over Overfelt. Isaiah Ene and Gabe Smyrth each had two rushing touchdowns and Nick Harris threw two touchdowns and went 3-for-3 in limited duty. They are off this week before starting the SFL season at new member Jesuit.

20. Bishop O’Dowd (2-0)

Deji Ajose had 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns as Bishop O’Dowd won at Monte Vista 24-20 to move the Dragons into the Top 20. Saliou Sow also rushed for 150 yards. The Dragons, which haven’t won more than six games since 2018, will continue to be tested against McClymonds (September 13) and Cardinal Newman (September 20) the next two weeks.

I see Jesuit as top 4 in league. They are well coached and will do just fine against Whitney, DO, Davis, and OR. The move to the SFL will make their program better. SFL Update

My take from seeing most of these teams so far this year is Folsom and Rocklin are better than Jesuit. Jesuit is the 3rd best team in the SFL. If you think casey taylor has some secret recipe you are mistaken. They lost to 2 schools who are way down this year. Frontier is 1-2 and San Clemente is 1-2. Only wins are against OR. The TN game was a complete waste of a trip. Running clock and nothing more to stroke taylors ego.

every major metro area has at least one.

theres prolific, finley, theres one in vegas, whatever that one in arizona is called that the kid is going to, they had donda until it went bust in so cal and then theres a few in washington and oregon as well.
MaxPreps listed 56 prep schools in their 23-24 rankings. A google seach came up with over 200+ prep schools that had high school (prep) basketball programs.

SFL Update

Don't know about people hyping them but The lost in 30T to DO last year in playoffs because DO had the best player in Norcal at QB.
Jesuit is better than last year and the overall SFL is down. Its actually a perfect time for them to join. Grant had the opposite issue when there program was down they joined a very strong SFL. You must not be that close to SFL teams because Oak Ridge, DO, & GB are way down.
this may be a bit controversial so i hope i dont get banned but the truth is that the sfl is WAY down this year. that being said as of now heres how the league looks to me in my imo:
