Nor Cal Bigs

I haven’t been to a practice, but have been to a few games over the years…. Excellent team, but a more NBA-style game, which I just don’t like as much.

The top prep teams, like you guys, Oak Hill, LInk Prep, Montverde, I’m fine with…. The ones I don’t like much are some of your early-season opponents you slaughter, many of which don’t even have websites, etc. . I’m betting there are a lot of broken promises at those places.

Nor Cal Bigs

I highly recommend everyone that is a skeptic to visit a Prolific Prep, Montverde, Link Prep basketball practice. Then please come back to this thread and report back. I think that would be a great idea for someone to do.

If any skeptic would like to come to Prolific Prep next week. ProlificPrepInfo@gmail.com. Practice is at 5pm.

Last week had head coaches from Oregon, Baylor, Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas, Iowa, West Virginia, USC (not assistant but head coaches) who would disagree with what is said on this thread. And don’t forget these same folks place their committed recruits with the top prep schools because they want them prepared when they enter college.

Another factor that most people look over is that a lot of these colleges are then visiting other NorCal high schools only because they’re in town looking at Prolific Prep and GSP. The local high schools really respect Prolific Prep and GSP because they know we are assisting local kids looks for their guys but everyone on here are probably disregards that very important fact. Especially mid majors which do not have huge budgets, but if they can come here and look at 10 potential players and then visit some local high school talent, it makes sense for their budget to make the trip.

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

Last Minute WCAL Picks for Week 3

Mitty over Menlo-Atherton
Riordan over Pittsburg
Monte Vista over Bellarmine
Wilcox over SHC
St. Francis over De La Salle
St. Ignatius over Cathedral Catholic
Valley Christian over Soquel
St. John Bosco over Serra

I see WCAL going 5-3 this weekend
AR over Pitts - not likely, but if so, it means they are getting it together.
SF over DLS - again not likely, but if so that puts SF in the running for SBG-Open.
SI over CC - If so, look out AR, but highly doubtful.
VC over Soquel - probably not.
Although I don't want this to happen, WCAL might end up 1-7 this weekend.

there’s less than zero chance Riordan beats pitt. none. the rest I can see other than that cathedral is much much gooder than si so that one is tough.

PCAL Week 3

What I don’t like is when programs that play at a certain level stay in lower divisions so that they can pound weaker teams. I’ve made similar statements regarding certain private schools in the NCS, who have traditionally been able to hide in D4 when they’re clearly D3 or even D2 level teams.
And before that, questioned why the 1990s-early 2000s Los Gatos failed to opt up to CCS D1 when so many times they plowed through the lower level teams.

There was no apparent reason Carmel should have avoided a system-encouraged move to Gabilan this year.

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

height, weight, 100 meter time, core gpa, and was he a captain? those are the questions college coaches ask when they come visit high school coaches. not how many instagram and tik tok highlights does the kid have. from there, they look at the kid's actual film on hudl. again, not instagram or tik tok. from there, they come check the kid's game out in person. again, not instagram or tik tok.

if you are really interested in helping kids get recruited tell them the truth about what coaches are looking for and how the process works.
I used to think the same way about social media, then I went through it with some of the players I coached in you and I can tell you this is absolutely wrong! Social media absolutely has a place and is not important than you think. Like any business marketing is key to getting people to look at your product in this case it's the kids. Teams with big names, big following are more likely to get coaches eyes on them then I agree they look for the things you mention. Believe me though there are a bunch of similar if not better kids who don't even text that chance for a look. Any exposure kids can get is a good thing and should be supported. Not saying they don't actually have to play football but I would argue the hardest part of getting recruited is to getting eyes of coaches on you to begin with.

Acalanes Game Replaced

In my opinion del Oro couldn’t afford not to have a game tonight. Correct me if I’m wrong but all playoff teams need a minimum of 4 wins. They sure as heck aren’t winning 4 league games. This makes tonight’s game a must win if they want to make the post season.

CalPreps' project-a-matchup has Acalanes a comfortable favorite, so Del Oro may be hosed after all.

NCP Pick'em Week 4 Games

10. St. Francis at De La Salle (42 - 10)
9. Riordan at Pittsburg
8. Jesuit vs. Christian Brothers
7. Twelve Bridges at Casa Roble
6. McClymonds at Bishop O'Dowd
5. Menlo-Atherton vs. Mitty
4. Carmel at Miramonte
3. Sutter at Bradshaw Christian
2. Pierce at Del Campo
1. Monterey Trail at California
