DLS Heading to London!!?!!!

I mentioned in other threads. The Monague game was an outlier. The weather was freezing and it was pouring down rain and SM was trying to break in a new QB. Also one of SMs top WRs wasn't fully healthy (and didn't finish the game). Coaches got spooked and completely went away from the pass game because they didn't trust it. With the type of WRs SM has it didn't make sense. Complet le head scratcher.

Also agree with Pitt over DLS. I actually think Pitt is the number one team in NorCal. Folsom is good but I don't think base don SOS you can put them above DLS or Pitt. Alsonas I mentioned not sure about SRV. I am looking forward to the DLS vs SRV game. From what I'm hearing about them it should be a good one!

Overall though I wouldn't disagree with your top 5 but may switch the order up a bit.

Pitt
DLS
Folsom
SM/SRV (I'll hold this until I see SRV play DLS next week)

I wasn't putting them in order

I take De la salle over all with the way they playing

But Folsom and Pitt in the conversation

DLS
Folsom
Pitt
St Mary
SRV

U explained it well cause I was like how did St Mary lose to them

But don't be surprised if St Mary give Folsom a good game if they meet in the playoffs

The bishop Monague game still a head scratcher cause st Mary don't usually lose to teams like that

But st Mary is a top not cal school who is not afraid of anyone and played a great game vs de la salle

That loss to Serra at home keeps Folsom out of the top spot. Sorry. DLS handled the Padres. Folsom SOS does not match up.

2024 Elite 8 Fall Preview

Nice event but would if been nice to see Folsom and Rocklin involved they are two of the top 4 teams in the area. Was really disappointed in CC showing in the finals. They have talent and size across the board and shouldn’t be losing by 40 anyone even in the fall.
They only pick 8 teams. I'm sure Folsom and Rocklin had the opportunity if they chose. MC played with 8 Freshman/Sophomore's in this tournament. MC full strength is accurate.

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

As we know, Marin Catholic was indeed a member of the old Catholic Athletic League back in the post-WWII decades. Adding MC to the WCAL (football only?) might make sense if another school (Sacred Heart Prep?) joined too. But it won't happen. MC, SHP, Menlo School, Palma, et al are more than pleased to participate in public school leagues. SHC lobbied hard to become part of the PAL years ago. It didn't happen. The Irish are stuck. It's not healthy.
They should invite Central Catholic and St. Mary's of Stockton perhaps Jesuit. All can afford travel.

2024 Elite 8 Fall Preview

Are we talking about Jones? He's gotten better each year which I love. He's skinny but so are 75% of D1 players. He's probably 6"2 165.
His ability to shoot really creates problems. Sykes is bigger more physical guard. He's more like 6"4 200 and will be able to use that size to body some bigger guys at next level.
I'm not sure as He was referred as He. Who is he talking about? Ask Ankle.

Great game by DLS. Didn't know what to think about the NFL academy coming into this but they are definitely physical. Seemed like they made a bunch of small mistakes which makes sense as some of these players have only played for a couple of years

Hot take of the moment I think the best team DLS will play in the regular season is St. Marys when it's all said and done. I admittedly don't know much about SRV (or the NFL academy until today) so looking forward to that game. I think Serra loses one more game this year leaving SM as their highest rated team.

The path to improvement isn't what we think

I think his point is that what we usually think of as "gifted" is limited. We tend to think that "gifted" means what you are born with and nothing more, but his point is that "gifted" includes the ability, or lack thereof, to improve on what we were born with, among other things.

And it is a whole book, so that one example hardly explains his thesis, which is backed up by lots of research.

It's comforting to believe that hard work will always pay off, but even though hard work definitely helps, it's not as much an explanation of athletic, or any kind of, success, as we might like.
