WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

Some of your comments have some nice content, but most are pathetic and this is one.

Bellarmine as of 2021 had a 119mil endowment fund. Do you even have a clue whose kids go to this school? Have you been on the campus. It is shocking. So if you think sports provides dollars to the robotics team, you just made me laugh a minimum of 100 million times. If your kid was a damn near genius you would say toughen up and go get your head smashed in. Or keep it up kid, Stanford or Duke or MIT will be knocking.

Class of 2022 per a Google find, kids went to 8 different tech universities hard as heel to get into, 5 of the 8 Ivy League schools, and Stanford and many other schools that are hard as hell to get into as well.

I am an alum of SH, we are lucky to get a majority of that per the alum quarterly we get yearly. So do you really think Bellarmine gives a rats ass about sports these days.
yes I know who goes to the school. do you know how the school got the profile it got or how it got the large enroll mint and endow mint in the first place? how the school grew from nothing to the largest boys school in the reason? what got the school to the point where it has a years long waiting list?

hint - it wasn’t robots. like I said. get rid of robots and bellarmine continues on being the excellent school it is. get rid of sports and the school closes its doors withing 5 years.

sports do much more to raise a schools profile then robots. deal with it.

Week 5 Scores

The question is if CN runs the table (as it looks like a distinct possibility, can they be put into the Open/D1 division for NCS? I would doubt it, but isn’t that what an Open Division is for? I know, this one was created so that runner ups to DLS can get to NorCal/state games.
There's a LOONNNNG way to go this season obviously.

AND...

CN has yet to beat Windsor or MC in the Sanchez era...but DAMN this team looks REALLY good..

The frosh QB LT is the real deal and makes a HUGE difference on the offense. He's a college QB...

Another interesting tidbit...only Gentry the rb is a senior..the rest of the skill positions are returning.

If CN was to run the table and win league..I think they are an Open team despite being at the D6 level.

Holy crap Newman is going to be a problem, that QB is a freshman ? That RB is 6’5 280 and runs a 4.7?
He also plays Dline...I happened to be watching him on 1 play in the 2nd quarter. Playing nosetackle he bull rushed and got TRIPLE TEAMED... center and BOTH guards and blew all 3 back for the sack.

He's projected to grow to 6'6..he's only a sophomore now. If he's stays healthy he's a Power 5 guy.

@bearphan MC offensive line is so bad and Caden lack of mobility makes watching these games painful, it’s like watching Jimmy G back there under pressure…….even Tam is having their way with MC up front and Caden is the least mobile QB I have ever witnessed at MC

The few times he has time to throw he does throw a nice deep ball
poor line play has been a huge issue at marine catholic for years, charles williams and mobile qb’s like cook covered it up and let them get away with it. at this point it’s pretty clear it’s a coaching issue

moayed has had a great run but the attention to detail needs to get cleaned up immediately. if I was marine catholic after this season I would ask paul cronin to name his price and whatever he said I would pay it. he would clean it up and have marine in the open division his first year.

Long season so we shall see. I think if they get by Windsor in a couple of weeks they will run the table. Windsor is the best team on there schedule. Marin Catholic lost a lot and is rebuilding some. They aren't chopped liver but not what they've ben the last 5+ years. The windsor/Newman game is for the champ. Windsor will have the best player on the field (Anderson) but Newman Line/D will be better and they finally have a QB. And Windsor has played absolutely nobody. They scheduled way down this year so hard to say how good they are. (Analy, Hayward, Dublin, Eureka, Campo) Campo is historically good but not this year. The rest of those teams are really bad.
Yeah Don’t tell Kiddman, but Campo lost to EC last night 49-0. I can’t recall a Campo team ever losing like that.

I have colleagues and/or business partners who are Bells alum who went to the school in the 90s and 2k. They are not happy. They typically donate annually, but are concerned about the state of both the football and basketball programs. Kids transferring out used to be unheard of but the Bells top WR is now at Branham. 2 of its best hoops players have transferred the past 2 years. Both to WCAL rivals VC and St. Francis. Just different times, expanded demographics and focus on just academics instead of the student-athlete.

My guess is that should they get pulled up, they’d likely be the 3rd or 4th seed, and be on the other side of the bracket than DLS. They’d have to win that bracket and then beat whoever the 2 seed was that loses to DLS in order to advance. So likely they’d have to beat both SRV & Pitt. A tall order, but you never know. For their sake, they’re better off not making the Open.

Top 5 Leagues

i never said they have never been at the top of the league. i said they are not there now and i stand on business with that. 2018 was a lifetime ago in high school football terms.
With Covid it really wasn’t. And the top leagues of the bay area are not going to have one school be the top team year in and out. The WCAL has an easy 5-6 schools that have state title banners or played in state title games. And also in multiple sports. Serra has been the big dog most years as of late. Riordan used to be abysmal at times. But they have built a program. And my school SH has struggles but even they have a WCAL title and won one of the bowl games. The league is so damn good that it has a history of parity. Unlike Folsom running the table in football for years now. Or DLS when schools at one time said kick them out the league. Or south of San Jose when Palma flat out dominated that area for years.

WCAL 2024-25 SEASON

You don't know jack sh*

the issue is that the robo nerds are standing on the shoulders of the athletic giants that made the school what it is (serra and de la salle are examples - struggled with enrollment, decided to emphasize elite sports, now have waiting lists larger than there current enrollment) and then trying to steal the resources from athletics and claiming there are "more important" things. when the truth is these schools would either be closed, under enrolled, or barely able to exist without sports in the first place.

you can find plenty of private schools with sports and no robotics, but you can't find one with robotics and no sports. the nerds need to remember this and stop biting the hand that literally feeds them and provides the materials for there precious robots.

You take a lot of shots at Valley. I am a WCAL alum so I back all of our schools. You do realize 2018 Valley was 2nd and 2019 Valley won the league. Sure they have struggled for sure. But don’t put them off like they have never been a real WCAL school.
i never said they have never been at the top of the league. i said they are not there now and i stand on business with that. 2018 was a lifetime ago in high school football terms.

Top 5 Leagues

i said the west catholic leagues real teams. valley christian is not in that category.

if you want to go with salinas as your example how about instead of talking about meaningless preseason games talk about the playoffs. here you go this is what it looks like:

47-7 cannon fodder
57-21 cannon fodder
35-31 cannon fodder
did not make playoffs
26-20 cannon fodder lost to OAK GROVE lol
45-27 cannon fodder (only made second round because they got to play a team from monterey in first round)

meanwhile if you want to compare against saint marys (your choice not mine):
17-6 lost in section championship in close game
51-50 lost in first round. literally BEAT DE LA SALLE this year.
51-48 lost in semifinals of a 12 team bracket
did not make playoffs but came within one score of ending dls norcal streak
28-21 loss
52-7 second round loss. cannon fodder

notice all of saint marys losses except one are in extremely close games, in LATER rounds of the playoffs or championship games. and they beat teams from outside their area code to get there.

also. salinas has to play serra, they duck to a lower division or get beat by 50 every time they can't. saint marys chooses to play de la salle and BEATS them or plays them close.

there is no comparison. again you picked these teams as representatives of there leagues not me. happy to break it down for you using different teams if you wish also to show why your league isn't on the list yet.

Top 5 Leagues

okay fine let’s do this weeks results.

saint mary’s: took de la salle TO THE ABSOLUTE LIMIT

salinas and the rest of the gabilan: stayed in monterey county and beat up on weaker local teams in lower divisions

but the gabilan is supposed to be a top caliber league. when all there teams compete in lower level playoff divisions in a section that uses competitive equity.

make it make sense.
Plumpy- FYI- Of course you can't use this weeks games as this week were all crossover games as mandated by the PCAL- of which the Gabilan is affiliated with.

Week 5 Scores

Yeah if they are a legit top 4 team in NCS I don't see how they wouldn't be put in the NCS Open/D1 at end of year. Lots of football to be played and Pleasant Valley, Windsor, and MC will all be challenging games. But right now Newman seems to be seperating themselves a little. If they get pulled into Open and win a game or 2 but don't prevail in the lower bracket are they done for season? I guess that is the big ? I have.
how about we pump the breaks on new man until they beat someone with a pile. they won’t be put in the open because there are many teams that are more gooder then they are.

in no particular order

de la salle

pittsburg

el cerrito (guarantee they would beat new man head to head)

san ramon valley

marine catholic (will beat them head to head mark my words)

california

acalanes

las lomas (don’t believe me watch there qb he’s the next superstar bay area qb)

windsor (completely unstoppable run game)

and that’s just off the top of my head. teams like liberty and clayton valley might be better too though i would also hold off on them until they beat a real team. gotta to have a consistent “standard”
