CVC biggest loss will be that stud RB, and their other stud RB, but they have a pair of solid-looking juniors to tote the rock, and a good number returning in the trenches.

Isn’t the CVC QB a freshman ?

Currently, CVC has a solid and mostly young team (except for that amazing rusher that ran all over Campo last night and a couple or three others).

If CVC can keep 'em together they'll be just fine.

The Bells need all of the help they can get. The program is a mess. All three levels are less than terrific. Once this season is over, the school's trustees and administration will no doubt address the situation. If the current coaching staff is retained it will be a surprise. Changes are in order. STAT.

If MC beats Newman do they both go into Open/D1? I don’t want to see the loser “benefit” by going D4. Big downside to the format.

Saturday afternoon on turf is always tough. Although it shouldn’t be hot it’s a big home field advantage for MC.

For a time CVC was getting Pitt/Antioch/Brentwood kids. Clayton Valley going to a charter format was huge.

Now it seems kids flock to DLS or Pitt. The whole Concord area and the Bay Valley league is very down. Just 5-6 years ago too to bottom that league was very good. Antioch, Freedom, even Deer Valley have all had some good runs a decade ago. Now it’s Pitt, better than ever, Liberty is solid but down from their peak, Heritage is ok, Antioch is iffy, Deer Valley and Freedom bad. The demographics of these schools should all yield decent football programs.

I had the same exact thought last night.

If they couldn’t score more than 21 on 4-4 Serra-SM (with Ryder Lyons), no chance they would have stood a chance against MD. And MD probably would have went out of their way to embarrass them.

Its sort of crazy that VC hasnt really had a 3 or 4 star QB there given they had top WR talent in Collin Johnson and Jurrion Dickey.

NIMBYs in SF weld a very sharp sword however SI seemingly gets their way. Their last 2 big wins with the new learning commons that was approved and kicking out the farmers market which a lot of folks in the community were really upset SI being petty.

Their black hoops uniforms are nice. These football ones just looked really cheap and unimaginative. Hummel played must better and he had some nice passes that were quick slants and not just his predictable 10 yard outs. 2nd half was no contest. VC offensively couldnt do anything. As I noted before, VC doesnt have a real QB. Was there no junior or sophomore backup QB from last year who gives them more than what the freshman gives?

Wes Burford for 1 half. 5 carries 180 yards. 3 TD.

This was a fun atmosphere on senior night under lights. Jesuit was hanging around for about 1.5 QTRS but Ryder Lyons made a few ridiculous plays before Halftime and it was quickly over. His ability to extend plays is like something I've never seen. Incredible. It would be silly for him to come back next year but who knows. The kid who might have some of the highest upside in the area since Jonah Williams on O line is Vlade Dkaknov. 6"7 270 JR went from no offers to Auburn, USC, Ole Miss, Mich State, etc overnight. His size and footwork at tackle is something you don't see.

SJB has been Tetering on the brink in several games this year, most Notably they were lucky to beat OLU and SM…. They are young and starting a Freshman QB….

MD’s QB has gotten better and better all year and MD is not a team built on Transfers and hasn’t been for several years and has significantly more talent then SJB right now….

But heck, no one saw this coming…. I thought MD woul win like 31-17 or something like that, this was crazy, but SJB will be back next year….

Yup this right I look at it wrong

They highest finish on Max preps was number 5 in 2014 nationally they was #2 in the state

Finished 8 nationally in 2017

They finished 7 nationally in 2018


I looked at Max preps perhaps other ranking from other publications was different those years

It seems our WCAL rankings are pretty well set for the league season. All teams this week won their games as expected. And all games were on Friday night. There is always a possibly of an unexpected change in future rankings but most surprises seem behind us now.
Here's my week 5 rankings.
1. SF - The Lancers' dominance was seen against SHC last night. Most of SHC's scores were gained after SF developed a 35 point lead. The Lancers still have VC and AR left on their schedule.
2. SI - The Wildcats implemented their trademark strong 4th quarter strength to overtake VC's lead they held for most of the game. Half time defensive adjustments changed the course of the game. SI have SHC and AM teams remaining.
3. JS - The Padres was not challenged by the Bells. They still have AR and VC next on their schedule.
4. VC - The Warriors had a good first half against SI. But they could not maintain their lead during SI's 4th quarter onslaught. They were scoreless in the second half and their defense couldn't keep up in the fourth quarter. They have SF and JS remaining.
5. AR - The Crusaders' offense were firing on all cylinders for their defeat of AM. They have JS and SF still ahead.
6. SHC - The Irish gained most of their points after SF already had a sizable lead. The Irish have SI and BCP left on the schedule.
7. AM - The Monarchs had a hard time stopping AR from scoring in this lopsided game. The schedule holds BCP and SI in the future.
8. BCP - Enough said.
