Commitment File: Del Oro WR Tommy Poe commits to Sacarmento State

  • Tommy Poe 6-foot-4, 190 pounds WR Del Oro

  • Chose Sacramento State over offers from Colorado State, UNLV, Brown, Army and Air Force

  • Jr. Season Stats: 29 catches for 563 yards and 10 touchdowns. Led the Golden Eagles in all three categories

  • Scouting Report: Bigger wide receiver who make plays down the field (almost 20 yards per catch). Coming off a good junior year, but still picking up momentum as a prospect.

  • Commitment Analysis: This is a quality pickup for Sacramento State. They land one of the better seniors in the Sacramento area, a wide receiver who seems to fit their mold of physical receivers and landing a commitment that had offers from the Mountain West Conference and a pair of academies.

Windsor Wins Kahlil Bell D1 Bound 7 on 7 Tourney

The D1 Bound 7 on 7 Tournament took place at St Vincent High in Petaluma the past two days. Teams competing were : Windsor, Rancho Cotate, San Marin, Analy, Montgomery, St. Helena, American Canyon, San Rafael, Windsor ran the table again going undefeated again and beating San Marin in the championship game. Yes it’s 7 on 7 and not real football. Windsor has a lot of depth in the OL and DL and will not struggle in the trenches.

Robby Beasley

UC Davis has announced several transfer additions lately so I was checking the roster to see if there were names missing. Robby Beasley isn’t listed and his number 5 was listed on a newcomer. Anyone hear news about him leaving? I thought he did a nice job for the Ags last year (his absence during injury was really noticed) and was looking forward to seeing him play again next season

Palma 2024 WR Logan Saldate flips to Notre Dame

Palma 2024 wide receiver Logan Saldate (6-foot-0, 180 pounds) committed to Oregon State in the spring, but flipped to Notre Dame on Friday despite not being on campus yet, according to InsideNDSports.com.

Saldate is a catch and run threat with his elusiveness and straight line speed. Down the field, he finds the ball early and wins contested catches.

As a junior, he had 54 catches for 713 yards and nine touchdowns.

Saldate is ranked No. 9 in the NCP Top 50 and No. 2 among wide receivers. He is ranked as a three star by Rivals.com and is one of three receiver commits for Notre Dame (both four-stars).

If he ends up signing (which all indications point to yes), Saldate will be the fourth Northern California player in the past four classes to head to South Bend.

Screaming about streaming

The handwriting is on the clubhouse wall. Major League Baseball TV coverage is heading for a bold new world. Streaming is in. It's not always welcome. This weekend, two of three Giants-Pirates games were shown on Apple and Peacock streaming services. Comcast cable-TV, for which most of pay, showed one out of three contests. MLB wants to "grow the game." This weekend won't help.

2024 Football Spotlight: Drew Cunningham OLB De La Salle

De La Salle outside linebacker Drew Cunningham (6-foot-4, 210 pounds) is a projectable prospect who will surely get bigger in college and has some position versatility.

At outside linebacker, he reads action quickly outside of his area and drives on the ball to make plays. He can get out of scrums and doesn’t miss many tackles. As an edge rusher, he times his blitzes well with bend to get around the corner.

Cunningham, who had 56 tackles and 2.5 sacks as a junior, holds offers from Army and Columbia.

Cunningham is ranked No. 21 in the 2024 class rankings.

MLB draft - Cole Carigg

Cole Carigg from Turlock, who played at San Diego St., was drafted at #65 today by the Rockies. His stock went up at the combine when he made some throws in from the outfield at 100 mph. Was listed at catcher but can play other positions. Was on the same Turlock team as former first round pick Tyler Soderstrom. In 2020 they had other Div. 1 players on the team too and were ranked in the top 25 in the state after 4 games or so when covid hit and wiped out the season. I was really looking forward to watching that team but it did not happen.
