Neil Sterling did all he could to give the Padres a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past De La Salle, as Serra lost 9-6 in seven innings at De La Salle on Thursday. Sterling racked up three RBIs on one hit with a HR in the seventh inning. Matt Blais ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out two. The lead stayed with De La Salle after the first, when it scored three runs on two ground outs and an RBI single by Polshuk. De La Salle scored one run in each of the third, fifth and sixth.

Serra 16 San Benito 5[/B]

The Serra varsity baseball team refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against San Benito, recording a 16-5 victory on Saturday at Frisella Stadium. The game was decided quickly as the Padres exerted their will early with eight runs in the
first three innings. Senior right hander RJ Hanson did a superb job pitching in long relief for the Padres in his debut picking up his first varsity win. A walk by Ian McGuire, an error, an RBI single by Nolan Dempsey, a two-run double by Angelo Bortolin, an RBI single by Neil Sterling, and an RBI single by John Murray during the second inning supplied the early offense for Serra. John Murray also racked up five RBIs on two hits.

Padres open W.C.A.L. league play on Tuesday March 18th against Archbishop Mitty at 4 p.m. at Frisella Stadium.

Couple of results stood out from Saturday's action.

Serra beat San Benito 16-5. San Benito has a season opening win over Valley Christian.

Campolindo beat Granite Bay, the favorite in the SFL. I don't have a score.

Acalanes beat Joe Demers and College Park 2-0. Demers threw a complete game with eight strikeouts.

Does anyone have a score for the DLS-St. Mary's game?

SMB junior DE/TE Ben Schrider received his first offer this week to West Point-Army.

It makes all the hard work coaches do worth it when the kid is excited and emotional to get that first offer.

Would be cool to see him playing with former Panther and starting Army CB Chris Carnegie.

But enjoy the ride kid. Its going to be a busy recruiting season with many more offers to come.

St. Mary's-Berkeley linebacker Ben Schrider has picked up his first offer from Army.

Folsom quarterback Jake Browning has been offered by Alabama. It is the second straight year a NorCal quarterback has been offered by the Crimson Tide.

Campolindo knocked off Serra 3-2. Both teams scored a pair of runs in the first and Campo added the eventual winning run in the third inning.Angelo Bortolin had two doubles in the loss.

After falling to Elk Grove, St. Mary's beat Valley Christian-San Jose 4-1 on Tuesday. Alex Patterson got the win and Theron Kay took the loss.

Missed this on Saturday, but De La Salle junior LHP Justin Hooper picked up the win against Vacaville. He went 3.2 innings of no hit ball with nine strikeouts agianst Vacaville. He did have five walks in allowing two runs (one earned) to come across for Vacaville.

St. Francis picks up an impressive win over De La Salle, which was coming off a win over Vacaville. Tyler Deason got the win for the Lancers. De La Salle started Alex Ross.

Defending D1 champion Amador Valley is off to a 5-0 start after the 1-0 win. Chase Henley picked up the win. Bradley Pluschkell scored the game's only run.

College Park got a complete game from junior Chris Brown in beating Monte Vista. College Park improves to 2-0 while Monte Vista falls to 1-1.

Vista del Lago is off to a 3-0 start after beating Ponderosa (9-2). Tyler Kaim went 2-for-3 with three RBI

Davis beat Napa 7-4. Matt Trask went 2-for-4 with three RBI. John Ariola and Brett Bloomfield each had two hits.

Vacaville beat Franklin 11-10. Vacaville owns wins over Davis, Woodcreek and Franklin. Its only loss is to De La Salle. Corey McGuire went 2-for-4 with three RBI for Vacaville. Hank LoForte went 3-for-4 with three RBI for Franklin.

Word is 2015 Pittsburg DL David Lui was offered by Hawaii. I'm sure first of many. Also sounds like Hawaii likes Pitt's 2015 LB's Noah Palega and Isaiah Lopez. Thanks to the staff for sharing this info!

In the top game in NorCal today, St. Francis beat Elk Grove 2-1 behind a two hitter from lefty John Gavin. John Hull of the Elk Grove Citizen estimated 20 scouts in attendance.

Vista del Lago 2015 quarterback Matt Jimison has picked up his first offer from UAB.

Mitty WR/DB Dakari Monroe has picked up an offer from San Jose State. He was at the Rivals Camp this past weekend.

San Leandro ATH Stephen Johnson has been a fast rising star and was one of the top defensive backs at the Rivals Camp Series in NorCal. He was offered by Oregon on Friday as a wide receiver.

The Wolves improve to 2-0. Ryan Weisenberg went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Matt Winaker went 2-for-2 with a triple and a RBI.
