PENALTIES can be the undoing of a lot of teams

This season, I went to 13 games before the playoff in Sacramento and down south and here is information on these 13 games on penalties and line scores...You will see who the biggest offenders were and how a few overcame these problems with a red hot offense...
Alhambra..........06.....15.....06.....00.....27
College Park.....00.....00.....00.....14.....14
Penalties Alhambra 10 for 80 yards
CP 5 for 40 yards
Cosumnes Oaks.....00.....07.....00.....13.....20
Marin Catholic.........00....00.....00......00.....00
penalties.....CO 9 for 75 yards
MC 7 for 50 yards
CVC.................00.....14.....00.....07.....21
Monte vista .....10.....07.....00.....00.....17
Penalties CVC....7 for 55 yards
MV......5 for 50 yards
Freedom.....07.....03.....07.....14.....31
Amador......07.....00......07.....14.....28
Penalties.....Freedom.....4 for 25 yards
Amador.......3 for 20 yards
Foothill.....14.....07.....00.....07.....28
Freedom...00....00.....07.....07.....14
Penalties....Foothill 8 for 60 yards
Freedom.5 for 35 yards
Campolindo.....10.....13.....07.....07.....37
Miramonte........00.....00....00.....00......00
Penalties ...Campolindo..... 5 for 35 yards
Miramonte........4 for 35 yards
Pinole Valley.....07.....14.....07.....07.....35
Hercules............06.....00.....06.....06.....18
Penalties.....Pinole Valley.....13 for 130 yards one of the worst offenders
Hercules............8 for 50 yards
CVC..... 13.....00.....29.....00.....42
Concord.....06.....08.....00.....08.....22
Penalties.....CVC 7 for 80 yards
Concord.....3 for 15 yards
Miramonte.....14.....14.....07.....07.....42
Alhambra.......00.....13.....06.....00.....19
Penalties.....Miramonte .....10 for 95 yards
Alhambra........13 for 105 yards...This score could have been different if it wasn't for all the penalties.
Alhambra.....21.....10.....00.....00.....31
Las Lomas...00.....00.....00.....06.....06
Penalties.....Alhambra 9 for 85 yards
Las Lomas...7 for 60 yards
Campolindo.....07.....07.....00.....13.....27
Milpitas............07.....07.....03.....07.....24
Penalties.....Campolindo.....8 for 65 yards
Milpitas...........16 for 135 yards...another worst offender and it cost them the game..
Bernard......09.....00.....15.....07.....31
Beathren....03.....07.....00.....07.....17
Penalties.....Bernard 9 for 80 yards
Beathern 12 for 80 yards
Campolindo.....07.....24.....07.....07.....38
Analy...............00.....07.....07.....14.....28
Penalties......Campolindo.....7 for 60 yards
Analy............... 5 for 55 yards
Milpitas and Pinole Valley both had steam roller offenses, but a lack of discipline cost both teams .
In the playoff between Alhambra and Bishop O'Dowd, the bulldogs should have won as they had two TD's called back, but due to their foolish penalties, the Dragons won 17-14....This is a must for all teams for ther 2016 season to work on....

Blowout

It's that time of year--league mismatches. MM defeated Alhambra last night 80-17. The surprise came in the quarter scores. MM won 1st half 20-14, 2nd half 60-3. Before I get my hopes up, I wonder if MM used an unusual gesture of (in my mind) sportsmanship in this game. I'm interested in hearing from people who were actually there (not people guessing, like I am) and if possible the reaction of Alhambra fans and players.

WCAL vs EBAL

Going back in forth with a friend on which league is better/stronger. I personally think EBAL is the best league around and by adding Dublin and DV next year makes the league even stronger. I dont know the stats and I could be wrong but EBAL teams seem to do better in NorCal playoffs than WCAL teams at least recently.

Curious to hear others opinion.

Scared heart vs si

sooner or later the coach need to be held responsible. I'm watching constantly we being out coached and see the wrong personal playing the game. I don't understand a freshman and bench player playing the full 4th quarter in tonight's game. I feel like the coach needs his player more than his lack of offense plays. Someone has to be accountable not the boys. Someone wake him up! These boys can play, just need some direction.

SHC - Skyline Scrimmage

It was both teams competing with their JV and Varsity teams scrimmaging on either half of the field.

For the Varsity, the Irish running game was far ahead of their passing game although they really didn't pass very often. That was surprising since they're looking for a starting quarterback. The competition is still up for grabs from what I've been told. I couldn't tell whether the first QB was George Stefko or not since neither player had a number on their jersey. The Skyline defense did rush the passer more than once.

Skyline was the opposite. They made some pass plays but the Irish defense recorded a lot of sacks. Skyline didn't have a very effective running game. Irish need a better pass defense, but then the full roster of players didn't participate so that may be deceiving.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral running game was very good. At least three or four different times, runners pulled-off 30-yard gains. A'reon Mitchell and Jamal Lavallier (sp) looked very good and have a lot of speed. They're both sophomores. Jamar Williams-Sheppard had some family business to attend to so he didn't play.

Ronan Murphy had a boot-cast on his left foot and I'm told he'll be out for all of September. That's extra bad news for the passing game.

On the JV side, Irish dominated both ways, especially with the running game. They also had a number of 35 yard runs. Maybe 150 people showed up.

Renda to Cincy as Part of Chapman Package

http://www.smdailyjournal.com/artic...to-reds-for-closer-chapman/1776425155880.html

Question for NCSF:

Will he finally/eventually make it with a/the Big Club and stick or will some of his perceived drawbacks continue to thwart his attempts at being a Big-Leaguer.

IMO part of his late development at CAL was Coach PJ at Serra allowing TR to play SS his senior year after Karcish left. Prior to that TR played 3rdbase at Serra. He then arrived at CAL as a secondbaseman/DH.

Thoughts?

DFAL Predictions for 1/12

Campolindo over Dougherty Valley
Dublin over Las Lomas
Miramonte over Alhambra

Two great match ups tonight. Campolindo takes on the only undefeated team so far in the DFAL and with Clark back, this makes for a battle in Moraga. Dublin taking on Las Lomas might be equally as entertaining. There is no shortage of scorers in this game and front runner league MVP Falls will determine who wins this game.

San Francisco Top Ten

Week 2

1. St. Ignatius - still playing best ball in City. Win over Bellarmine; tight loss to Mitty.
2. Riordan - 1-1 in league; tight loss at home v. CCS No. 1 or 2 St. Francis
3. Mission - loss to Lowell in OT, 2-1 league. Can only beat themselves in AAA. Full strength for first time.
4. University - virtue of win over Stuart Hall. Winning the games they are suppose to.
5. SHC - 0-2 in league (home loss to Bellarmine); this week will show a lot. Even 1-1 may move them up.
6. Burtion. 3-0. Bottom feed with quality win at Lowell.
7. Lick Wlimerding - beat previous No. 9 Gateway; 14-1 but schedule keeping them down til SH and University
8. Lowell 2-1. Upset of Mission puts them in Top 10; so-so rest of week..
9. Stuart Hall - plays Urban end of week
10. Urban - plays Stuart Hall end of week.

As indicated last week, the results at end of Week Two will narrow list down. SHC@SI (USF), SI@Riordan, Riordan and SHC away at Serra will clarify the tone. A strong .500 result will strengthen/justify SF WCAL teams rankings.

Games of week in BCL Urban@University Stuart Hall@Urban, University@Lick Wilmerding (at Oracle).

Games of week in AAA, Burton @Lincoln. Lowell@Washington (Bird game at Kezar).

Plenty of City rivalry games this week; A good week to get out and watch City Basketball.

Last Week (Week 1)
1. St. Ignatius - playing best ball going into league season
2. Mission - other than lopsided loss to S.I. playing strong with 3 starters coming back in January
3. University - always a competitive schedule, ahead of Riordan by virtue of win; behind Mission by virtue of loss.
4. Riordan - quality wins over St. Mary and MV
5. SHC- relatively unknown quantity by virtue of no home schedule. Lost badly to MV.
6. Urban - good schedule with only blimp in tight game v. University
7. Stuart Hall - hot and cold, heading into league with consecutive losses.
8. Lick Wilmerding- flying under the radar, will know more once league starts
9. Gateway-will not be tested in their BCL division
10. Pick a AAA team

Will SMS's OT win vs Salesian impact their #1 National Ranking?

Missing 2 starters again with Cayton and Johnson out, SMS needed OT to beat Salesian 82-78. Kat Tudor hit critical FT's to keep SMS on top at the end and Salesian hit a 3-ptr as time ran out, but it wasn't enough. Both teams were tied at 66 at end of regulation with Salesian having the ball with a chance to pull off the upset. SMS definitely escaped this one.

So will this effect their national ranking? Or will the different committees give leniency knowing SMS was without two starters?
