SFL best league in NorCal

For a while i was on the fence, having lived in the Bay Area for 25 years of my life and now the Sacramento Area for over 15 years, I have been asking myself who has the better football. Obviously DLS is hands down the best team in NorCal. But If you look at leagues and the depth of leagues I finally have to admit that since the SFL got Folsom and OR it is hands down "THE BEST" league in Northern California. The SJS division II bracket will have an SFL Winner who placed 3rd or worse in league.... While Oak Ridge and Folsom are in their semis for D1. Year in and year out the SFL just has the most talent from top to bottom of any league in northern California. Now I have lived in Redwood City and followed the WCAL for years and although they are a great league they are just not on par with the SFL now a days. Sure they may have a really good team or two every other year, but top to bottom the SFL is just something else, especially this year with 5 teams still remaining in the playoffs...

CK McClatchy transfer

On Cal Hi Sports and Sportstars online, both are report that Courtesy Clark from Sac High now plays for McClatchy? Is she sitting or playing immediately? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Clark play for Stockton Mustangs this summer and isn't one of the CKM coaches Coach Que, who coaches Stockton Mustangs?
Jordan Cruz and the Wong sisters were on that team as well.

I thought if you moved to a school where your AAU coach was a present or past coach, as well as playing with players from your AAU team. I know I saw Courtesy, Cruz and other players playing for Stockton Mustangs against NW Blazers at the End of the Trail tournament.

If your move is athletically motivated, don't you have to sit for the year, or did the rule change?

here is the game vs. NW Blazers from the summer

TCAL Rock??

I'm going to give it a shot on

1. St Pats- I really like them winning league walker been up there for the last 3 years I think this will be the year they win it all. They return 3 starts BJ, Henderson & Mays the X factor on that team has to be the prolific prep kid they have he looks pretty good when I seen them against Moreau. Right now they are my D-4 favorite they just need to get a little deeper on the bench.

2. St. Mary's - Kevin warren can put up points quick they also have a lot coming back with rice, Brown, Thompson & they have a pretty good freshmen. They play hard for Battle every night. I see them splitting with St. Pats. Also don't surprise if they win league.

3. El Cerrito - The lost of Carlos Johnson hurts but they still have Sayeed who is the most versatile player in the league that can win them games also with much improve trey Grey & Banks. Booker always get his kids to play hard.

4. Salesian- seen them in the summer play took Mitty to the wire their guard heavy with no bigs. Salesian shows signs last year of being a good team. Every year with Salesian a kid always transfer this year it was Joshnson who would of help them. I just think Salesian is to young. They have a bunch of good guards don't see how all of them going to play.

5. St. Joes- Jade had a huge summer him Duckette are a tough match up in the back also with the freshmen from last year can help them. I just wondering can lippi get them back to where they were 3 years ago?

6. Hercules- don't know much about them just know it's going to be tough.

Advice for coaches in selecting parents

As coaches, we all have a pretty good idea how to select players for our teams. What's more problematic is screening parents, particularly the dads. So here are a couple of tips that may help.

Find out if the dad ever played ball and, if so, at what level. If he was a high school varsity starter or played college ball, you are probably ok. However, if he never made it higher than junior varsity or the end of the varsity bench, he will almost certainly be a chronic pain in the ass. The principle being that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Of course, if you find a dad who never played at all, has no personal theories, and just wants his daughter to enjoy doing her thing, that kind of dad is golden.

But regardless of the dad's experience or lack thereof, if he has Warriors season tickets you are definitely screwed.

Super Sophomore

I got my first look at Maurice Washington III of King's Academy yesterday in a wild DV playoff matchup with Carmel. Yes, I know... Small schools and Carmel hasn't made a name of itself on Defense in several years now, but this kid is as dynamic a back as I've seen in awhile in person. I saw Amir Carlisle play both as a Sophomore and as a Senior, and Washington was much more dominant than Carlisle at either stage. 6'1" 175 as a 15 year old, and just explodes through the line and seams at the 2nd and 3rd level while running well behind his pads and next to untouchable at times with his spin moves and cuts at speed. This kid should have FBS schools all over him by the time he's done, as may also be the case with his teammate, 6'3" freshman qb Michael Johnson.
