Najee Harris

At a park today with my daughter outside the BVAL area, I heard a kid playing football with his friends say "we don't need to pass the ball, let's just NAJEE HARRIS them"
I thought it was AWESOME! He's a Verb!
A legend in the making?
I later spoke with a Heritage teacher that taught him in middle school and said he's a humble and very nice boy, and he continues to be, I love that! Another person had mentioned that he was technically homeless....

I'm a fan. Not to mention him going for 400+.

St. Mary's-STOCKTON 22 Central Catholic-MODESTO 36 Final

Story on this game from the Record ... CLICK HERE

Indeed, St. Mary's kept shooting themselves in the foot with the TERRIBLE snaps in the shotgun position. Why they did not turn to just receiving the snap under center after just a few snafu's is beyond me. The worst snap, and maybe not the one causing the longest loss of yardage came in the 4th quarter when the Rams completed a long pass to get within Central Catholic's 15 yard line, knocking on the door to tie the game. Instead, the snap over SM QB Alegre sailed over his head and now the Rams were backed up on the Raiders' 40 yard line. Give credit to Central Catholic. They made the necessary adjustments at halftime to stop the Rams' aerial attack, which was working wonders in the first half after SM struggled to run the ball. The call on 3rd and 14 by Central Catholic to seal the game with Petlansky going to the air for an 80 yard TD was the nail in the coffin. It appeared the Rams were still expecting run, but with two receivers sprinting downfield the safety was caught in the middle with no help and played eenie-meanie-minie-moe in deciding who to cover. The pass was delivered nicely and the game was virtually over. The CC coaches and entire team was celebrating heavily on the sidelines and on the field. They even received an excessive celebration penalty that was assessed on the kickoff. St. Mary's indeed looked worned down in the 2nd half and completely discouraged as Central Catholic gained a 1st down on 4th and 2 deep in their territory with under a couple minutes to play. CC followed with the victory formation, and the rest is history.

This game really was a night where the Raiders from Central Catholic were more blessed than the Rams from St. Mary's. It appeared Central Catholic had a priest or deacon working as the water boy and you would swear the Raiders had the edge, possibly drinking some of that holy water. LOL! They fumbled a few times, but each time recovered their own fumble. The last fumble from the Raiders fullback fell into the hands of their RB who rumbled in for a 25 yard TD to take the lead in the second half. As reported, Petlansky picked his own number and scored the next TD on an end around keeper, and then later threw the nice 80 yard TD pass to seal the victory, putting the Raiders on top by 2 TD's.

Early on CC had the momentum as SM could not stop CC's run game. CC would stop SM on back-to-back series on downs. SM appeared to have negative yardage. Again, much due to the bad snaps that haunted them early. I thought it was going to be a long night for SM. But, they bounced back turning to the aerial attack and stole the momentum. But, with QB issues, more bad snaps, the 2nd half just wasn't theirs. Hopefully, starting QB junior Jake Dunniway returns next week when SM hosts SI in a revenge match.

To all the Pick'em participants, I tried to help and hint that CC was going to win this game. In all honesty, it appeared I might have been wrong after SM's performance late 1st half. But, the game is 4 quarters, and in the 2nd half, CC wore out SM's defense, SM's offense was a no show, and another Pick'em game hits a lot of pickers hard. Oh well.

Congrats to Central Catholic with the victory. The Holy Bowl trophy is yours for this year. Please keep it shiny for it to return to St. Mary's next year. Thanks!

Good game to both teams!

SHC Beats Terra Nova 28-13

It was really the Jamar Williams-Sheppard Show tonight at Kezar. He had at least 30 carries and 150 yards, plus an 85-yard Pick-Six on defense to top things off. I think they over-use him. All the other teams have to do is key on him as they did last year and that won't translate into a lot of wins if the coaching staff doesn't mix-up their playbook with something other than "Jamar up the middle".

Quarterback George Stefko attempted ONE pass that overthrew the receiver, but he did send it 52 yards which shows some arm strength. He also had a 16-yard run and a touchdown in the first quarter. The second QB, Rafael Suchikul also had one incomplete pass.

The defense looked good at pursuing the quarterback and had at least three sacks. Tigers are still pass-happy and they had a lot of open looks.

Sophomores Jamal Lavillier and A'reon Mitchell were impressive with both their speed and athleticism. Laviellier had two 10-yard runs. Mitchell would be a good receiver if the coach would pass more often, and on defense, he had an interception as a free safety.

Irish are 56-39-7 for season openers.

SHC JV's won 28-0. QB Andres Ruiz looked good. He had runs of 40 yards and 14 yards before he went out with what looked like an ankle injury. He was on the bench late in the second quarter with ice on his knee and ankle.

Palma Emilio Martinez NorCalPreps recruiting profile

The profile mentions to comment on message board so here goes. Agree with lots of the profile, but Emilio is more than a finesse RB. He actually runs with a lot of power and is tough to tackle. While not tall (5-9), he is very strong - benches over 300 lbs and is still a junior. He tends to turn and shift his body while keeping his feet going....not a straight ahead runner but very tough to tackle for negative yards. He will run through people at times for extra yards. He's not any easy RB for one person to tackle. Also there is a comment having to prove his durability. He's never been out of a game due to injury and is very durable. Only injury I can think of pulled hammy in track that has been fine. While no offers yet, he has already been told by a Mountain West school that they will offer.

St. Mary's-STOCKTON in 2015 SJS D1 Playoffs?

If St. Mary's-STOCKTON wins their TCAL league, a D1 league, the Rams will return to playing in the SJS D1 playoffs (not D2) based on recent changes to the CIFSJS Playoff Plan. Per the Overview ...
  • A school may only compete in one division lower than its league placement, but will compete in a higher division if its CBEDS numbers places it in a certain division. (For example, if School A were in a Division II league, the lowest division that it can compete in would be Division III. It would compete in Division I or II if its enrollment places it there.)
  • If a school wins a Section championship at a particular level, that school must play at or above that level the following year
  • League champions must play at or above the level of its league.
  • After the 72 schools are selected, they are divided into six divisions by enrollment. Divisions I, II and III will have 16 teams each. Divisions IV, V and VI will have 8 teams each.
  • A school that is misplaced due to the above criteria would be placed in its respective division and the Section staff would adjust the brackets accordingly.
