BVAL OUT LOOK

This year looks to turn the BVAL league into a war zone...Antioch, Freedom, Pittsburg Liberty and even Heritage seem to be well stocked for the 2015 season. Deer Valley did well in the passing at LMC and they showed a lot of speed, but every thing else is in question...the new coach has pumped new life into Deer Valley, so we are eager to see how Deer Valley performs..
How do the teams stack up....Right now it looks like this:
Antioch
Freedom
Pittsburg
Liberty
Heritage
Deer Valley
But Antioch, Freedom and Pittsburg bring a lot to the table which means what was just listed may not hold much water....Liberty and Heritage can not be over looked and Deer Valley has to prove its self.
ANTIOCH......Sports Nagee Harris, the terror of Antioch, he is supported by Kobie Beltram and Ryan Tayne and the D has five returning and so does the O.....Which means the fur could fly when this team goes into action...Now last year, Antioch visited Foothill in a playoff game and ran into a buzzsaw, the line play and a smart operated offense wasted little time ramsacking the Panthers.....So the Antioch team needs to be solid on
defense and give Harris plenty of room to breakout. last year, Antioch went 7-5 while the Jv's went 5-4-1 and the freshman team did poorly at 1-7....Antioch plays host to Acalanes on 8-28 and in last years contest Antioch got by Acalanes 30-28.
FREEDOM.....Has the one -two punch of Joe Sweeney and Ronnie Rivers which includes six on defense and six on offense which makes Freedom a very dangerous team to deal with...On top of this, the JV's went 8-1 and the Freshman went 9-1....With this Jv team moving up, Freedom can fill any holes and have plenty left over....Last season Freedom went 7-5, so they need to clean up the rough spots as it appears there were several let downs.
Freedom will host Tracy at 7 P.M.., so there is a big test on the horizon for Freedom..
PITTSBURG......The Pirates will enter the 2015 season with a young offense, but these guys will have to step it up as they play host to California on 8-28 who won last seasons contest 19-7....The O has four returning and the D has five which give the Pirates a strong defense....A few names that come up are Jordan Parker,Charles Ramirez and Saia Fonongalon...Pittsburg also has a strong JV team moving up at 8-2 plus a freshman team at 7-3
LIBERTY......Had a big year last season going 9-3, but lost some of their fire power to grad, but hope to fill in the spots from a JV team that struggled at 4-6....Still as an anchor, the offense has three returning and the defense has three also....The Lions will be counting on Fazion Graham, Brandon Hoctor and Trevor Robinson.
At the LMC passing tourney, Liberty went two-two,but there were some bright spots and one of them was getting by DLS 2-1, but DLS was using every body so the score may not have any meaning, although it sure gave Liberty a real lift......Liberty opens the season by playing host to Central of Fresno at 7 P.M..
HERTIAGE.....The Patriots had a rough year last season going 5-6 but things are looking up as the JV's went 6-4 as did the freshman at 6-4..this season the offense sports five returning and the defense has four...Heritage will be counting on David Letuligas;enoa, Erra Magalei and Ty Mack to beef up the team....Last season, Heritage caught Liberty by surprise with a strong defense and won 15-12...At the passing tourney at LMC, Heritage came on strong at the start and dumped CVC 4-1...After that round, Heritage struggled the rest of the way loosing the last three contests....Heritage opens the 2015 season by invading Amador Valley at 7 P.M. The Don's enter the season will stocked, so the Patriots have their hands full right at the start.... .
DEER VALLEY.......DV is the mystery team as they have a new coach so there is very little known about them except they have a lot of speed and did very well at the LMC passing tourney, going 3-1..the new coach has pumped new life into this team, but a lot of work needs to be done or DV could turn into the league whipping boy......Last season DV went 4-6 and the JV's went5-4-1 and the freshman finished at 4-5.
Deer Valley opens the season with a tough start by traveling to Granada, this will be a serious test and the game is atr 7 P.M. One other thing, a lot of players played musical chairs going from one team to another, so the fortunes of some of the BVAL teams could change depending on the outcome......

EBAL OUT LOOK

One of the toughest leagues in the area is the EBAL and again the 2015 season looks to be some hard fought league games....But we have the preseason rolling up soon and it would sure be interesting to see the EBAL teams take on some of the Valley, north coast and the WCAL teams. year after year the EBAL teams stay close to home....In the past SRV took on a valley team and did pretty well, but at the same time, the league could be keeping the expenses down.
This year we have what looks like a four or maybe five team race to be the champ....Cal ,Amador Valley, Foothill, San Ramon Valley and even Monte vista.....all five teams will field either a good defensive team or a team that will pose a strong offense.
At this time it looks like this:
California
Amador Valley
San Ramon Valley
Foothill
Monte Vista
Granada
Livermore
But who is up for that night will surely change things...Good example last year was Amador Valley downing Foothill 25-23...this wasn't expected, but it happened....And there were a lot of close games.
LIVERMORE.....The cowboys went 2-8 last season, the JV went 0-9 and the freshman went 1-9, so the 2015 season doesn't show any promise.....
GRANADA.....went 3-9 and the JV's went 6-4 and the Freshman 3-6-1...the offense has four returning and the defense has three and Granada has a jack of all trades in Andrews, so this is a team that can't be overlooked..
MONTE VISTA.....The Red and black Mustangs had A 4-7 last season and are lead by QB Haenor who is well seasoned and again, MV will surprise you if you are not sharp..
FOOTHILL.....The Falcon's on paper look very dangerous, they went 9-3 last season and have a sold defense in 8 returning and 8 returning on offense.....They have two possible QB's for the job in Woodridge and Merrimann, but it sure looks like Merrimann will be the starter....How Sweeney uses the QB's and how polished they will be is a good question. There is no room for mistakes on the part of the QB's if the Falcons want to become champ..Supporting the Falcons will be Mat Gates, Isaiah Floyd and Cash Connolly just to name a few.
Last season, Foothill jumped on Antioch early and the Panthers never recovered, but got caught by a Amador Valley team that would not quit and lost 25-23..
SAN RAMON VALLEY.....Again on paper, the wolves look real dangerous, although they went 7-5 last year, like the other EBAL teams they lost some close encounters.....They have five on offense and six on defense which will be composed of a big line...They will be fed by a JV team that went 9-1 and rumor has it that Kevin Davidson might be back at QB...The line has two big boys in Jake Javier at 260 and 6-3 plus Nick Kane at 230 and 6-2 and there should be a few polished linemen from the JV's that will make a difference.
AMADOR VALLEY......The Don's enter the 2015 season with a 6-5 record and will be led by a seasoned Jones at QB and a strong and fast runner in MCollugh ...Not much help coming up from the JV as the team went 4-5, but kids have a way of fooling you...There is enough O and D returning to make the Don's one of the teams that you had better be prepared for..
CALIFORNIA....Don't know a whole lot about the Grizzlies who went 9-4 last season, but they have a solid defense again for the 2015 season and the offense will be led by Jack Gerlach at QB and backed up by Lockler,Shell, Lark, Nonato and Norfleet...In 2014, California lost a close 21-14 battle with Foothill and joined the rest of the EBAL in close wins and losses...
The season opens on 8-28
Foothill at home against San Leandro
California visits Pittsburg
San Ramon vista Las Lomas
Monte Vista hosts Castro Valley
Amador Valley hosts Heritage
Granada hosts Deer Valley
Livermore travels to Newark Memorial
There are a lot of holes guys so I need your input....

DVAL 2015 OutLook

Again, Clayton valley charter should run the table in the DVAL, they have 70 on the roster which includes four on offense and five on defense that are returning.....The Eagles will be led again by Nate Keisel at QB and will have a strong running game with Ray Jackson at running back...Jackson, broke his am earlier this year but should be ready to go against Folsom on August 28th.
CVC went 15-1 for the varsity , 8-1 for the Jv and 6-4 for the freshman, at the passing at contest at the Jc field in Pittsburg, the Eagles went 2-2-1...Now for all five teams that came to play, most were missing a lot of their main players, so it was a good chance to lookover those that came to play..
  • Concord has a new coach in Mark Bywater who stepped up to replace Bryan Hamilton, so I doubt we will see any new glitches in both O and D....For the 2015 campaign, the minutemen have four on offense and nine on defense returning and will have a very strong defense built around Jose Rivera, Vaseen Shoh and Donald Hollars. To support the returning players, a JV team that went 8-2 should fill any holes on both D and O....
  • Concord travels to Benicia on 8-28 for what looks like a real battle as Benicia has a large returning force to face the minutemen...this should be a real good game...
  • Northgate starts the 2015 season with 53 on the squad...The Bronco's went 5-6 in the 2014 season and 2-3 in league play...They have a weak 1-9 JV team to build off, but the up coming freshman team went 7-2-1 ....The Bronco's start the 2015 season against Rodriquez of Fairfield....
  • College Park had a rough 2014 season going 3-7, but they enter the 2015 campaign with a new coach and five on offense and six on defense to build on...included on the returning team is David Jones, Waris Aziz and Mike Trisby ..the Falcons big win in 2014 was a shootout win over North Gate 40-37...College Park opens the 2015 season with a visit to Alhambra on 8-28 at 7.P.M. last year the falcons took a beating at DVC stadium to the tune of 55-13 by the bulldogs...
  • Ygnacio Valley could be a break out year for the team that went 3-8 for the 2014 season...They have six on offense and four on defense and are led by QB Drew Leonard plus RB Jesse Guzmann, a 180 pounder at 5-11 who may be tough to bring down..also in the mix is Cristian Ramirez at 5-11 and 215 who can handle both LB and OL...YG's Jv's went 5-5, so there is some good support moving up to help the varsity.....YG visits Albany on 8-28 at 7 P.M.
  • And then there is Mt. Diablo who went 3-8 for the season and 1-4 in league play...The Red devils have a 1-9 JV team to help fill the gaps and are led by QB Ronnell Hicks, a 5-11 170 pounder that is very quick and has a fair arm.....Coach Derek Clements has one of the toughest jobs in the DVAL, putting a team together as he never knows who will show up for practice on a regular basis and keep them together as a team....Mt. Diablo has many possible kids that could and should try out, but the big question is will they.
  • The Red Devils start the 2015 season with a visit from Mt. Eden at 7 P.M.
  • One of the big problem of the DVAL is how many kids transfer to CVC which really waters down each team and changes their out look.....When you watch the CVC practices,, many of these kids could be starters, but may wind up on the bench as the competition is fierce for the 22 positions on both D and O...
