#1 c/o '25 Player in CA, Tounde Yessoufou, this Saturday @ Las Positas College vs Inderkum

The lineup this Saturday at Las Positas College is very intriguing, with the addition of St. Joseph (Santa Maria) playing Inderkum at the 5pm slot. St. Joseph features Tounde Yessoufou who is ranked by some as the top player in his class in California, and top 2 in the nation! St. Joseph comes in with a 20-5 record with losses to Sierra Canyon (65-71), Bishop Montgomery (60-62), Arbor View, NV (53-55), Olympia, FL (76-77), and Modesto Christian (67-68). NorCal power Inderkum High currently sits at 21-2 with it's only two losses to Folsom and Etiwanda. Both teams are looking to finish the regular season strong with their eyes on a deep playoff run!

NFHS Network

I have a bone to pick with some coaches. If your school has the NFHS network, why aren't schools providing games when they easily could? I noticed boys teams like Mitty, BOD, SMS, De La Salle have all their boys teams on the NFHS, but the girls coaches don't seem to post their games, consistently. Are they really that concerned with scouting?

Friday's (tomorrow's) SJS Top Game of Interest

On Friday, tomorrow, in Div. 2, Sac-Joaquin Section action, Vista del Lago of Folsom (19-5, 8-0) will play at Christian Brothers of Sacramento (22-2, 7-1). VDL previously beat CBS. However, MaxPreps' computer rankings has CBS ranked higher/better than VDL. A VDL win gives them the outright Capital Athletic League Championship and should give VDL a higher/better post-season seeding than CBS in the Section tournament. This game will be a live broadcast at 7 p.m. Vista del Lago @ Christian Brothers Live on NFHS Network!

Mixon

Looks like Joe has been acting up again reading a warrant has been issued. I was curious because Samaje Perine seem to get more playing time against the Chiefs. Could the Bengals possibly be cutting ties and if they do will an6body touch Mixon?

Another top NorCal player headed to SoCal

This one pains me. Highly touted sophomore Phillip Bell out of Christian Brothers (sacramento) will be transferring to Bishop Alemany. Phillip is widely considered as one of the best sophomore players not only in California, but the country. This one’s a head scratcher but my guess is he’ll be at Bosco or MD by his senior year.

CB was projected to be good next year but this is a major blow.

WCAL Update

Things continue to go pretty much according to script.

Mitty remained unbeaten atop the WCAL standings, knocking off Sacred Heart Cathedral 69-43. The game was much closer. Sacred Heart trailed by only four late into the third quarter. These two are the class of the league and should see each other again in the WCAL tourney final and perhaps yet again in the CCS open final.

SI topped Valley 40-30 to move into a third place tie with the Warriors. SI led start to finish. It has the easier schedule for the final three league games, so would be expected to finish third.

Strange game at St. Francis. The Lancers were coming off a 30-point demolition of Valley, and a strong showing in a 10 pt loss to Sacred Heart. Presentation was coming off a loss to VC and was winless in league. Not surprisingly, SF led Presentation by 20+ at the half, but Pres cut the lead to single digits before falling 55-43.

Wednesday's SJS Games of Interest

Two Sac-Joaquin Section games of interest tonight, Wednesday.

1. In Division 4: Colfax 21-2 is at Marysville 20-3. A Colfax win would give them the outright Pioneer Valley League championship. It's interesting to sometimes watch smaller school teams play. Colfax is always a perennial power. This game will be a live broadcast tonight. Colfax @ Marysville Live on NFHS Network!

2. In the Metro League: Monterey Trail (14-9, 6-3) plays at Grant (17-8, 6-3) for 2nd place in league standings. Could have post-season seeding implications.

CCS Open Seeding

Last year CCS seeded eight teams for the Open Division. Based on MaxPreps rankings and/or SF Chronicles' top eight, here are the teams that would go.
MaxPreps: Archbishop Mitty, SHC, Los Gatos, Palo Alto, Monte Vista, Branham, S.I., Crystal Springs.
SF Chron: Archbishop Mitty, SHC, Los Gatos, Palo Alto, Crystal Springs. Pinewood, M-A. Others to consider: Evergreen Valley, Valley Christian. Thoughts? Will they send that many publics into the Open or will they place a St. Francis or other private?
