Boys open…. Roosevelt V Riordan

great season by riordan... but that defense everyone talked about.. it hits different on a nba court.. those passing lanes are now much harder to cover. riordan dominated who they should have and left no doubt..
this was my first time seeing them, and honestly i thought the team make up would be different. i swear they were all africans.. but they got a few other boxes checked
My monday morning qb would be why didnt Curtin double Burries every time he touched it? And since he opted to play straight man, why not put your best 1v1 defender on him, Rencher? Im perplexed to why Emeneke kept coming out to guard the perimter and not just stand there in the key to make inside shots alot tougher. Time after time Roosevelt drew him out and left the middle open. Tell you what, if their big hits a 3, cool, you like those odds.

I've watched Riordan all season and they always played faster than their opponent. Yesterday was really incredible to see another team play way faster than them. Anyways it was probably already over before Hilman tapped out probably a contusion to his back or spinal nerve from that nasty fall he took, but it certainly didnt help without him the rest of the way.

was one of your boxes checked that their bench players 9-15 were all the token white kids happy to be on the team? 😂

It showed that Riordan needed to be in contests where they were down and came back from double digits. I do know that from what has been reported they only play so many games allowed from CCS. That being the case they should play East Coast Teams and a schedule to match teams of SoCal. HS Wizard showed the team's leading up to the finals for Roosevelt, all talented at the level of Riordan. The Crusaders had a great season and lost to likely the nation's top team! At this point teams have to stay with what got you there and adjustments can be hard to synchronize. Riordan hat's off to your Northern California Open Championship! Enjoy that because it is a great achievement that only few teams have accomplished in Northern California!!
See you in 86 days!!!

Summer Basketball MC Tourney coming June 6th through the 8th.

Currently on paper they have a core of White, Hilman, Armstrong and Pihtovs coming back next year and the hope is Carter makes a leap into his sophomore year. Curtin probably already looking at other teams rosters to see who he can pilfer to stack his already good roster.

Have to?...2nd place philosophy
Enjoying the Northern California Championship is a win philosophy! The Game is over, and Riordan can reflect on it entirely and not appreciate the hard work it takes to make it to the Open, let alone to the Finals, let alone to win it in Northern California. Yes, they succumbed in the State Open Finals. How do you become stronger/ you learn from your mistakes and loses. Only 1 team wins.
Remember philosophy is the talk of the cereal box.

Another freshman, Jack Loevner, will on be varsity next year. He's a promising 6-4 PG. There's also Ernie Tofi who played Frosh A's. Another 2-sport basketball/football kid from the Tofi family.

I remember in 2002 Forslund said look fellas we have to throw the entire kitchen sink at them. After experiencing 2001 and losing state, he walked away with experience of knowing you got to throw it all out.

And the players knew it as well. Katley leg was rolled over and Rich was going to take him out. Happened right in front of the bench. Kately said I am not coming out I am going to win this. He had the ball out on the wing and blew by his defender and scored. Kately was such a wonder to watch. He was pro material as a high school player. Unreal drive to elbow and pull up. Literally jumped out the gym. He won play of the week multiple times with monster dunks.

Anyways good news is the future is bright at Riordan as it is evident they will always get the kids and Coach Curtin which I don’t know how many guys can say this has lost state as a player and now Coach. It’s a good experience that I believe Curtin will up his desire and passion and I hope Rirodan loads up and try’s to play in a HoopHall level tournament. Cause if they continue to bring in the horses, the league games will not be competitive at all. And as we know neither will CCS. Got to find a national loaded tournament and find a way to play a game or two against highly nationally ranked teams during league. And even if you take a few L’s it gives the kids an idea about what level they need to focus on at practice. I was shocked to see 0 dunks yesterday.
I am sure you remember the 2 point win over Clovis North, and the the 3 point win over Salesian ?
Not easy wins buy any means, no?

Here's wishing you great hoops.

I don't think "pilfering" players from other teams is exactly within the rules or ethical.
