Folsom at Grant 8-22-25

No offense but Grant has had plenty of transfers over the past couple seasons. Let’s not act like their team is full of home grown talent lately.
Who is acting like anything...
The moment one enrolls at GHS they have all rights and privileges of all students ..their HS diploma will say Grant not transfer

You quoted me..thanks...I stated FRESH may that infer new talent be it foreign or domestic to the Heights

Catholic school athletic powers typically have no one local to their institution attending within the campus radius

Yet, let the urban enclave of Grant 100% City school attract suburbia athletes it raises the eyebrows of passive observers

Grant's roster is overwhelmingly homegrown

Yet, are borders are of Grand Ave is open to ALL

THE DPH the SHRINE of City football excellence...oh yeah ..county...NorCali...STATEWIDE as in Champs!

Additionally the Head Coaching staff are Grant alumni...domestic SJS Lord

SJS Lord feel free to share any other Championship level football team--not any school -- a championship level football team coached by alumni in SJS

I never mentioned the coaches and I’m aware they’re alumni. Simply pointed out that Grant has benefited from some really good transfers lately. Nothing wrong with that by the way. Just the name of the game in 2025. Good luck to grant this season.

If the word is out that you can go to Folsom, be 3rd (which means you don't play) and still get offers, everyone else is cooked. Except Grant and a few others that have their own niche and are geographically just far enough away.

I can totally understand transfering if you're a starter at another SFL school, slide right over and take the bulk of the carries like Jackson did. The morality of it aside, it's a business decision.

But for the first time (at least in this area) we are seeing kids who literally won't play for a full season being encouraged to transfer and watch. If you can get away with that, you not only build depth but you weaken your opponent. Crazy times indeed.
Nycum is a very good player. Being 3rd on Folsom behind the #1 QB in the nation and another one with 3-4 offers already isn't a bad thing. He would start at every SFL school except Folsom. The pacers will like him alot. In limited action he was 17-19 passing for 270 yards and 5TD's last year for Folsom.
And everybody has benefited or been impacted by transfers in some way. Pretty even playing field unless you ar SJB and you are just bank rolling families and embezzling money.... ooops.

I'm sure the kid is good and has offers, but man I guess I'm antiquated.

I thought being a football player meant you actually played.

Maybe I'm off. If having offers>getting on the field then have at it.

Private schools have to right to recruit and accept players from every where....they are paying for the education...
Public school are being funded by the taxpayers...hence boundaries and rules set forth...
IMHO in todays age the need to play at a top program isnt needed as in the past as with technology life has changed the complexion of recruiting for college ball

That genie is out of the bottle. Most of the SFL schools are magnets for good football players. Those parents are typically affluent and can afford to move to the attendance area. If they make the decision late, after freshman year, they can usually afford a high powered lawyer in the event the SJS puts up roadblocks. The SJS kneels quickly when they see Esq. used as a suffix.

And in Folsom's case, it's the rare collaboration between the school and the parents.

Not only are the parents making a conscious choice to move the kid (whether they actually move is in question at times) but the school offers open enrollment and has made it clear they are building a winner intentionally and with the full backing of the district.

GB, Rocklin, OR etc. have great support, but not at that level. So it's a battle for second at best.

Exactly...let everyone drink from the well

I agree 100%. If certain schools choose to operate bargain basement programs, they should expect they will (and they are) lose the best kids.

The top tier programs will continue to draw the best athletes, who will self select to the program that best fits their need.

If Nycum was going to be 3rd at Folsom, offers or not, the move to Grant for a potential start is a no brainer.

agreed. and i'm not being a jerk when I say 3rd string. Hell 2nd string has offers! Nycum is smaller (5'10ish) so he just won't pass the eye test. But as a HS QB he is very very good. Easily capable of making grant into an open level contender in Norcal.
