Football Scoreboard - December 6/7

If they had a tougher Pre season schedule or if they were placed in a more appropriate league (REC Adobe or REC Valley) St Vincent would’ve had the opportunity of most likely being the 8 seed in D1/Open, and faced DLS.
Nice, they haven't played since they tied each other in 1973 when Bill Silva was coaching SV and Ed Conroy (longtime Rancho HC) was playing for SV.

Be great to see them match up again, 50 years is a long time between games.. Although I’d make the Spartans a favorite in a current match up. 🤣

So what is the secret sauce? Why do DLS, Serra and now Pitt seem to trip up Folsom?

D line play, DB’s, a combo of both? Or I suspect a combo of that and coaching.
I’m not a Folsom expert, but have watched plenty of Folsom over the years. Whenever they seem to play a game against an opponent who can punch back they do not seem to respond? Once or twice is a fluke, but multiple coaching staffs and decades and the back of your baseball card is who you are.

They have a nice little program, but man they have never taken that step forward to elite. Part of that I blame on not getting out of their comfort zone which at this point has been beaten to death. I guess it just seems frustrating from the outside, but if that is not the program aspirations then that is absolutely fine to not take the next step.

Folsom is undoubtedly one of the top schools in NorCal, and they have plenty to be proud of. They defeated Pittsburg last year but fell short in a close game last night. Over the years, Folsom has won numerous state and section championships and sent many athletes to college programs, with some even reaching the professional level.

Their previous coaching staff has even had tremendous success at the FBS/FCS level.

I think they're happy where they are at!

Really?…. They are Happy?…. How could that be?…. They have never made the Open or been the #1 team in Nor Cal, they have no great, signature wins….

They have actually gone BACKWARDS since 2018…. Let’s look at Folsoms “Accomplishments”…..

2019- Knocked out of the Playoffs by MT….

2021- They upset DLS (who lost to SF) in D1AA after getting Boatraced by DLS in the regular season and LOSE to a San Diego team in the D1AA SBG that DLS beat by 4TD’s In the regular season….

2022- Folsom loses to DLS in D1AA Regional…

2023- Folsom has now DROPPED down to D1A, lost to both Serra and DLS in the regular season…. Barley Scrape by NCS D1 Champ PITT in D1A regional game due to Lyons running heroics….. Then they barley beat a Division 3 So Cal team in the D1A SBG again, with Lyons Running Heroics….

2024- With 20 D1 Players, they Lose at home to a 6 loss Serra team…. Then in the D1AA regional against NCS D1 Champ PITT, they blow a 21-0 lead and are soundly beat 28-6 over the next 3 quarters and are sent home….

Folsom is going Backwards…. They are just lucky they play in what Folsom has turned into a bad league because they take all the good players from the other schools, and very watered down SJS D1 playoff bracket where the best SJS teams are all in D2….

Folsom has accomplished nothing, that have no wins over any Great teams since 2010 when they beat Grant and Serra…. Folsom has never Beat an Open Level Nor Cal team or played an Open Level So Cal Team….

Folsom should only be happy by Being the #1 team in Nor Cal and Repping Nor Cal in The Open….

20 D1 players and the best win they have is over Oak Ridge?….. Please…. What a complete wast of Talent and a Season…. 🤣

You think that the school that protested the NorCal Open is not "happy"? Many believe that they were the program that was instrumental in getting rid of it.

Is it possible that you are not happy with their success? From all accounts, they are clearly happy with their success.

Have you ever been to two exit, Folsom? Lol

They've established themselves as the premier team in the SJS and they have all but decimated the SFL. Didn't they just win a state championship last year?

Sure they haven't made an Open. But only two schools in NorCal have won the Open. It's one thing to make it to the Open. It's a whole different animal to compete and actually win.

I'm not sure about 20 D1 recruits. I'll leave that to the recruiting experts.

Totally agree. Some programs are at the highest level and upper echelon, but those are the minority and they are that’s why they are elite. Absolutely nothing wrong with not being at that level. As long as they are happy where they are at that’s great.

If they’re happy with where they’re at then that’s where they will stay. I’m sure if you poll the team they might say otherwise.

HA!…. I Guess if you Consider a team like SJS D1 Champ 8 out of the last 10 years or something Folsom Barley Beating the SS D3 Champ ranked 30 in So Cal, some kind of State Championship then great! Everyone gets a trophy…. 🤣
The thing is, Folsom has had teams and talent that were good enough to play and contend in the Open Division. What’s the point of bringing in talent from outside the school district if you’re happy staying at the 1A level.? Why not just be a regular boundary public then?Poaching players from inside their own league even.

Totally disagree…. This year was an epic fail for Folsom, a team with supposedly 20 D1 players….

They played a Cream puff schedule, Lost to a team with 6 losses at home, Blew a 21 point lead in the most important game they played, and their All World QB was exposed that he only played well against weak competition….

The only thing Folsom can hang their hat on was the won a watered down SJS D1 Title where they didn’t have to play any great teams that could slightly even challenge them….

Nothing less than an Open Birth was what Folsom needed this year…. They have taken a step back….

They have once again proven that if you punch them in the mouth they will fold like a cheap suit and they get rattled and out coached when they play teams who are very physical and can match or beat their speed….

This year was a disaster and empty year for Folsom, not 1 signature win with all that talent….
Haha.. I love the passion!

We know how you feel about Folsom, but come on OC, brotha give em a little love! Not a lot, just a little!

This was pretty much the closest they have probably ever been to getting the Open Bid. Just 2 points away.

But yes, definitely a disappointing year tho

I understand the no handshake at the end nothing good was going to come from it.Newbury kinda lost their composure in the 4th when things started going sideways for them. They had at least 3 personal fouls called against them in the quarter .Their center got ejected and a couple of off setting personnel foul penalties as well.

You could hear the PA guy imploring the kids to keep their composure over the broadcast.
That's what I said. Lincoln coaches didn't want to risk losing a kid

It sounds like you would like to see Folsom play a tougher preseason schedule and battle through a NorCal and SJS Open. Would that make you feel better about Folsom? Lol

HA!…. Sounds about right!…. 🤣

The good news for Folsom is, it doesn’t matter what I think, so as long as they are happy that is all that matters…. 🤣🍻
