Friday Night Scores

These are many of the reason to why DO defeated a very good Rocklin team. And those that paid CLOSE attention to the early downfall of DO knew this was a possible trap game for the Thunder. As tempting as it may have been to pick the Thunder at the 10 spot in Pick'em it was a safe bet to pick them a lot lower. Here's the recipe that caught Rocklin a little by surprise. DO's Injured players returning, Sophomore QB maturing, home cooking and a history of beating little brother. This gave the Golden Eagles a punchers chance in a game that most believed the Thunder should win. Once again, styles make fights. The Junkie

good take...

Picked with my heart this week despite knowing this was a healthy dangerous DO team jacked up for homecoming night. Hats off to the eagles, was really impressed with the young QB pose and stingy defense. These two teams matched up very well and it was a fun game to watch.

I’m sure Rocklin will see on film how a poor offensive showing just won’t cut it in the SFL or playoffs. But, this is SFL and both teams now 6-3, 3-1 in division will face their final league game and prepare for playoffs. Rocklin plays Granite Bay and Del Oro plays Folsom.

My take after watching Rocklin this game;

  • Watts played okay but not his usual standard.
  • The read option needs some work, perhaps RPO is the RX.
  • Significant amount of dropped balls by the receivers
  • Lots of motion, not much setup by the eye candy.
  • Overall offensive game plan stunk
  • Key fumble in the red zone sunk any momentum they had
  • Defense played really well, just got burnt (containment) on two long runs.
Both teams are very, very good! Rocklin appears to be loaded next season. Getting some quality playing with two recent pull ups from JV that are starting on Varsity.

I think it was much more Rocklin playing a lack luster game along with a game plan that wasn't working...coming off the bye week that team has lost some steam....

Was expecting a lot more from Rocklin in the trenches. If Rocklin played lack luster then it started in the trenches. DO OL & DL played a very physical and inspired game last night did not dominate the lines but they won more battles in the trenches than Rocklin which surprised me.

Rocklin had an easy TD as their WR burned DO but dropped a sure TD pass in fact the same receiver dropped up to 3 passes last night which could have contributed to a different outcome. Probably from rust coming off a bye.

I expect Rocklin to do well in playoffs. Hoping they go deep as the talent and coaching.

...

Glad DO played them coming off the bye but I will also say that the DO te that played last night were as up for a game as any I’ve seen all year.

Watts is a very good QB. He felt a lot of pressure last night and was hit pretty hard on more than one occasion. Handled it well.

Agree RR. Team was finally healthy and QB is just starting to get a rhythm. There have been so many moving pieces through out this year where it just seemed DO never established chemistry. Hoping last night is something they build on vs a one off performance. They have the Dawgs next week. Win or lose I hope they build on what we saw last night. GO DO!!

I appreciate the ground and pound as much. Just found it interesting. Play action can really make the D honest. Especially with an accurate arm and one fast guy. Some schools have both.
