Mitty owned the paint at both ends. lots of biocks, putbacks.
I didn't see the game but it was played with to very good coaches. Sounds like Doc did another excellent job working with once again a smaller (less athletic) and less deep team than his opponent. He could care less about over blown hype, or if a team is ranked higher. Sue and Mitty's size appeared to take Hannah Jump out of the game offensively. But Pinewood must have adjusted accordingly to stay in striking distance? When all else is equal or not, "coaching" can really make the difference. I know without seeing the game both teams probably had pretty good ball movement and got several people involved in the scoring. Making them harder to game plan for, adjust to, or defend. And most likely Doc didn't try to rotate as many players as Sue. Because to my knowledge Mitty is most likely a bit deeper than Pinewood, so Doc probably took that into account. He probably just rotated to keep his players out of foul trouble? Yet allowed them enough rest to adequantly match up plus stay in rhythm. Just as we talk about high level players, I can't say enough about high level coaching. I love them both !
Can anyone answer why Bri Claros didn't play for Pinewood?
Just another display of the power in the North. And even more reason why the CIF or whoever makes the decision shouldn't even think about placing CW (the 2nd ranked team in the state) in the North with Mitty the #1 ranked team in the state. The South doesn't have the typical dominant Chaminade, Brea Olinda, Mater dei, etc... Meanwhile the North has Mitty, Pinewood, Carondelet, SMS, Bishop Odowd, Salesian, CN, MM, Mc Clatchy, Vanden, Heritage, SMB, WC,Campolindo, Folsom, Lincoln, ESP, Sac, and others I left out.
Why stack all the powers up North?
