In a rather slow night for girls basketball games tonight, 1/8, Wednesday in NorCal, here are the top games:

SJS Section:
Monterey Trail 11-1 at Laguna Creek 14-1
(league game; McClatchy in same league)

NCS Section:
Analy 12-3 at Cardinal Newman 13-2
(league game)

NCS-CCS:
Bishop O'Dowd 6-3 at Mitty 9-3

Bishop O'Dowd 44 - Archbishop Mitty 64

The game was much tighter than the score shows. BOD kept it close as it was 26-24 at halftime. 2nd half Mitty came out and turned the intensity up with grueling defense and rebounding sparked by Katie Springs. This intensity allowed Mitty to separate a little bit to make it 40-31 at the end of 3. In the 4th, veteran guard Ashley Hiraki got aggressive attacking the rim and knocked down a pair of 3 point shots. BOD wasn't going down without a fight lead by Kennedy Johnson and Amaya Bonner. In the end, Mitty's aggressive defense and depth were a little too much. Mitty Forward Sydney Bourland had some big buckets down the stretch as Mitty began to separate. This was a very competitive game.

The fact they can do this with two of their best players out is down right scary. Race for 2nd place this year is on.
