1. Serra (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 26 vs. #3 Folsom

A year after going to Folsom in its season opener and picking up the win, the Padres will host the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in San Mateo. Serra is 42-2 against Northern California competition in the past four seasons.

2. De La Salle (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 25 vs. Orange Lutheran

All six of De La Salle’s non-league games are against non-NCS teams starting with an out of area game on Friday. Orange Lutheran beat Serra-Gardena 47-19 in its opener last week.

3. Folsom (1-0)

Last Week: Beat Monterey Trail 35-0
This Week: August 26 at #1 Serra

Folsom jumped out early in its season opener as sophomore quarterback Ryder Lyons threw for a touchdown and ran for two more. The Bulldogs also added a special teams touchdown.

4. St. Mary’s-Stockton (1-0)

Last Week: Beat Clovis West 38-28
This Week: August 25 vs. #8 Central Catholic

The Rams looked very sharp in getting out to a 38-14 lead en route to the 10 point win. Asante Carter rushed for more than 100 yards and Kenneth Moore III had more than 100 total yards on 12 touches. Next up is a Top 10 matchup with rival Central Catholic.

5. Oak Ridge (1-0)

Last Week: Beat Spanish Springs-Nevada 54-14
This Week: August 25 vs. #10 Grant

While the Trojans weren’t tested in their opener, they found two performances to build on in junior quarterback Joaquin Graves-Mercado and sophomore Jasen Womack, who impacted as a runner and pass catcher. The challenge increases this week against Grant.

6. Pittsburg (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 26 vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral at Kezar Stadium

The Charlie Ramirez era will begin in San Francisco with a retooled offense and a defense that is led by talented juniors in Jadyn Hudson, Jewelous Walls and Etene Pritchard.

7. St. Francis-Mountain View (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 25 vs. Helix

The Lancers start the season against one of the top teams from the San Diego Section. Helix will have a game in hand after beating Edison-Huntington Beach 38-34 on August 18.

8. Central Catholic (1-0)

Last Week: Beat Merced 42-12
This Week: August 25 at #4 St. Mary’s-Stockton

The Raiders ran for nearly 400 yards against Merced as junior Joey Alcutt and sophomore Carter Meeks each topped 100 yards. Cal bound Brooklyn Cheek had 102 of the 150 passing yards from senior Tyler Wentworth.

9. San Ramon Valley (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 25 at St. Ignatius

The Wolves start the 2023 season with a trip to San Francisco and a meeting with a St. Ignatius squad that appears to be trending up in year one of head coach Lenny Vandermade.

10. Grant (1-0)

Last Week: Beat McQueen-Nevada 52-12
This Week: August 25 at #5 Oak Ridge

Grant has many new faces to go with returning standouts from its state title team last year. In the win over McQueen, senior running back Wayshawn Parker ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Luke Alexander threw for four touchdowns.

11. Clayton Valley Charter (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 25 at Salinas

The Eagles will look to even the two year series with Salinas after the Cowboys left Concord with a win in 2022. This will mark the first game as the solo head coach for Nick Tisa.

12. Granite Bay (1-0)

Last Week: Beat Elk Grove 27-13
This Week: August 25 at Manteca

It was a workmanlike performance for the Grizzlies as they got nearly 200 yards on the ground from Carter Jackson (Cal) and sophomore Isaiah Ene. Expect more of a ground led attack this week as Granite Bay travels to Manteca and its standout back Bryson Davis.

13. Palma (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 24 vs. Soledad

Palma will start their season this Thursday led by the top senior recruit in the section in Notre Dame bound receiver Logan Saldate. Palma begins the year as the league favorites after finishing in a three way tie with Salinas and Aptos last season.

14. Windsor (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
Next Week: September 1 vs. Escalon

Windsor is one of two Top 20 teams that won’t start their regular season until September. However, it has one of the most intriguing non-league games in the region as its hosts Escalon.

15. Del Oro (1-0)

Last Week: Beat Inderkum 50-34
This Week: August 25 vs. Reed-Nevada

Get used to seeing the touchdown notices of Caden Pinnick to Tommy Poe coming out of Loomis this year. The duo connected four times for 90 yards and three scores against Inderkum. Pinnick finished with 275 yards and five touchdowns.

16. Los Gatos (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 24 vs. Soquel

Los Gatos is the second ranked CCS team that will play Thursday night football. In the non-league, the Wildcats will take on the BVAL’s top two teams in Pittsburg and Liberty.

17. Vacaville (1-0)

Last Week: Beat Davis 43-0
This Week: August 25 vs. Sheldon

Vacaville passed for more yards than it ran for in the shutout win over Davis. Air Force bound Brody Fortunati went 23-for-38 for 321 yards and four touchdowns. San Jose State bound Noa Siaosi had a team high 7 tackles including two TFLs.

18. Riordan (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 25 vs. Sacred Heart Prep

A highly anticipated season begins on Friday against a Sacred Heart Prep squad that made the CCS Division I playoffs last year. The Crusaders play four of their first five games at home.

19. Marin Catholic (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
This Week: August 26 vs. Freedom

The Wildcats start the season with back-to-back home games before traveling to San Joaquin Memorial on September 8. Last year, Marin Catholic beat Freedom 55-29.

20. McClymonds (0-0)

Last Week: Idle
Next Week: September 1 vs. Bellarmine at San Jose City College

McClymonds has put together a strong non-league including the opener against Bellarmine and Top 10 teams San Ramon Valley and De La Salle.
