- Winner of #8 Monte Vista/#9 Amador Valley could cause #1 American problems in 2nd round, #5 San Leandro has the ability to win the whole thing (21-5 record and beat Carondelet by 14 early in the season), #6 Carondelet may be having a down year but still plays with the confidence of their former selves.

- Can #15 James Logan or #14 Berkeley give #2 SRV and #3 Cal any problems?

-Bottom half of the bracket is going to be a grind with SRV, Cal, and Carondelet all capable of beating each other

Anything else stand out in D1?

I too think the MV/AV game could be a good second round match up with American. If Dublin gets past CV, they may have a shot against SRV. Dublin vs. SRV was a 5 point game with 2 minutes left to play and no head coach that game. Also like Pitt at San Leandro...will be a good game!

1-6 are all capable of winning this year in D1 with MM and Heritage out
Totally agree with this; it will likely come down to a combination of whether the matchup works in your favor or not, coaching, who is handling pressure better and so on. And of course, health of the main players always makes a difference.

No surprises at all in NCS D1, D2 or D3 tonight (Other than Donnie Dublin being surprised at no upsets). All the top 8 seeds move on in all 3 divisions, so we’ve got 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5 in each.

For a lot of teams, making NCS is the goal -- and justifiably. If you're trying to build a program, or validate the time and effort of the coaches and players, getting into NCS is something to celebrate. And realistically, how many teams in any 16-team bracket in any sport at any level have a legitimate chance to win the tournament?

So you make the tournament, you play hard and you lose to a better team -- and you should be happy on the ride home. After all, at the end of all this, only eight teams that reach postseason will end the year with a win in their final game.

Just noticed Albany forfeited to Alhambra last night... Anyone have any idea what happened there?
