NCS open-division 3 seedings

who do you suggest to be his div 2 replacement?
Hmmmm..D2 is always tough cause it's historically the weakest division in the NCS.

BUT...

Taking a quick look...

How about:
Colin Hamilton - San Rafael

This year: 18-9 and a 1st rd section win last night over Piner.

Last 3 years for reference:

12-15
8-18
6-20

After those 3 previous seasons an 18-9 season with a section playoff win seems like a pretty good season.

***and how is the Redwood coach not in there? They just beat Montgomery (Arrow) by 20 last night. Seems to me TWO solid candidates to replace.

Odowd bounced out 1st round by 13 to amador 🤢

What happened to cornerstone ? Lost by 18 to Eden 😮
St Joseph narrowly escapes past Washington
It was just a bad year for BOD all the way around. They were the #11 seed for a reason. They’ll be back.

MV was missing 3 players due to injury last night, or they may have taken down YV. Disea #3, Cojocaru #23 & Nishikawa #25 were all sidelined. All 3 are sophomores, as is the 6’8” kid McMillan. They’ll also be back.

Yes Nishikawa can play. He may of started as a freshmen last season. They will have a strong team in a couple of years.

I am listening about Arrow. We were impressed with how steady Monty ranking was all season. Seem to of been div 1 for most of the season.

Redwood - when coach lands one of the top “today” players in all of nor cal . Standards and expectations are going to be very high for that coach and team. In a week and half if they are div 1 champs. Tune starts changing some. Still not enough though! Big boy moves come with big boy expectations .

Hell, look at Taylor from Newman. He is a winner. They don't have a bunch of college kids. Just a very good HS teams that plays hard. Probably has averaged 24 wins a game since he's been there.
And how about that bottom bracket in D2 now with St Marys of Berkeley losing to 14 Heritage. Talk about a team that went off the rails.

And as for Redwood... You aren't talking about a D1 kid. You are talking about an ACC big time player. Redwood will see the likes of him 1x every 25 years if they are lucky.

Can’t deny 12-0 league record and playing up two divisions vs base of d4. Most certainly d4 candidate coach of the year . We can talk even bigger if players are from within a standard school boundary ? Or is this more of an upper 707 all star team ?

For coach Marshall first season at st mary's to get them rolling and being a 3 seed he
Definitely has put people on notice that
They will be a force to be reckon with to say they are a disappointment when he has his team in the playoffs in YEAR 1 some people think wins just fall off a tree it's a process for any coach to instill there culture and set there
Standards for success I'm sure coach k
is glad he wasn't judged off his first few years at Duke!

My statement wasn't directly meant for ankle another poster also mentioned how st mary's went off the rails some of these teams that are in the playoff should be judged on there entire body of work that's
All I was really trying to say especially programs that have improved dramatically from previous seasons let's give these players and coaches some credit!

Looking at Liberty’s 24-2 record early on, it first appeared they hadn’t really played anybody. But with last night’s Weston Ranch beating Sheldon, and Heritage beating SMB it’s looking a lot more solid.

A bad home loss to a down Campo, but beyond that their only loss was to 26-3 Lincoln-Stockton. In addition to WR & Heritage twice, they’ve beaten Vanden (21-8), Enoch’s (18-10), San Luis Obispo (21-8), Frontier-Bako (19-12), Natomas (22-7), and Grant (20-9).

Dublin better come to play tonight!

Since you asked...

Santa Rosa schools are Open enrollment so the no boundaries advantage doesn't exist.

All the CN players are Sonoma County kids.

The Cal/ SRV game should also be very entertaining also you have SRV who has been there and done that these last 2 years and coming off a tough home loss to DLS I'm sure they will take the floor ready to
go. Cal high is having a great season can they go into SRV and steal one tonight?

Looks like football team made open bracket , baseball team are NCS and nor cal champions. Newman looks like De La Salle of north bay. Does not mean he is not a good coach. Just best to group him with other private school, schools/with lots of transfers and coaches. It is a much different comparison when wins have a huge part in factoring in a quality season. Due to competitive advantages Newman coach needs to compete at the highest level. Example below of coaches of the year at highest levels

Dublin
Cal high

When you group him with the aforementioned. He is not coach of the year. Costello or Ohlmeyer stronger candidates. Go bigger ! Or win d2 then win regionals. To be continued …

The DLS of the north? Lol..not quite but as a CN alum I appreciate the compliment.

The biggest advantage that CN has going forward in the new MP seeding era is that the CN teams can only be put as high as D2 with of course the exceptions in football and girls basketball where both squads should be in the Open every year for the foreseeable future. Im hoping BIG TIME that the boys basketball can take that same step very soon and be a perennial Open team also.

Yea. He put some people on notice that he choked like a chicken! Lol. Wasn't supposed to lose that game to Heritage. The season started off hot for St Marys, then they seemed to cool off drastically. Be on the lookout, he might be coaching at Encinal next year. He moves pretty regularly....

You are correct they did suffer immense losses . I know they brought in a junior. Did they grab anyone else out of the portal ?

If we are digging into d 5 . How about San Domenico Coach ?

Meanwhile, Moreau (base division IV) looks like they're gonna run thru D2 like Grant took Richmond. That, of course, is the highest they can go unless invited to Open. Maybe that's what shoulda happened? I think they could compete...

Redwood, Moreau and Dougherty . All share one thing in common.

Each has a Div 1 committed player .

7 team open this year was the play. Let other two fight for their first section div 1 title .

There was a post on the girls' side of this forum that suggested an 8-team Open with pool play like the CCS does. Then all eight are nominated to NorCals... and the other 17 nomination slots distributed appropriately, 4,4,3,3,3.

Of course, that means at least one team in most years would be a sacrificial lamb in the section Open tourney, but a guaranteed nomination to NorCals is a fine tradeoff.
